God, no wonder you felt burnout. I felt it too after I first watched this episode and I wasn't recording nothing, lol. Thanks for muddling through this one Sessk.
Here's some trivia. The pink R2 droid designation is R2-KT, it was created for Albin Johnson, the founder of the SW cosplay group known as the 501st in honor of Katie, his daughter who died of cancer on 2005 at the age of 7. This was a way for Dave Filoni to pay a tribute to Katie, it's the first appearance in canon of the droid, and it has been seen in other shows and comics since then.
I thought R2-KT appeared in the Clone Wars film? I remember her chuckling with R2 as Ahsoks tells the 501st how she saved Anakin by pulling down a wall around him.
The team at Lucasfilm built a real life pink droid for Katie , but I think she died of her terminal illness shortly afterwards. The animated version came later. There were really 2 different pink droids: QT-KT was Aayla's Secura's astromech, and then R2-KT came along.
Funnily, I have a massive soft spot for this droid arc, and love Colonel Meebur Gascon despite the fact that he is a terrible and flawed individual. The fact that he multiple times has to be reminded of the usefulness of the droids I think is a deliberate choice and not a writing flaw; it just shows how prejudiced and out of his depth they all are. WAC is delusional and R2 is the audiences viewpoint into the story. I know people like to skip it on rewatches but I will never miss out on watching this arc 😊
Fun fact, “ A Sunny Day in the Void” is George Lucas’ favorite episode of the series. Can’t say I agree but he’s allowed to like weird and non action episodes. First half of the arc is rough but the next 2 episodes are pretty good especially if you are a fan of Clone Commandos like I am
The day in the Void is George Lucas's favorite episode... Interesting ha...lol He even said so himself during an interview you can probably find the video on UA-cam
Most story arcs now are 4 episodes long from now on there are a few that are only two but that's next season but for the most part they're all 4 ...Also keep in mind that season 5 was the last season of the clone wars..Then Netflix picked up season 6 Star Wars rebels came and gone before Season 7 was made in 2020,Around the same time the bad batch came out for Disney+ it's why season 5 feels so epic They really put a lot into it especially after this story arc... love it all
I've already watched clone wars but I'm watching it with my wife for the first time and I'm caught up to you now. So i get to watch the episode then watch your reaction. This is a nice chilled arc before we get to the last two big arcs of this series.
This arc gets better at the end, but yeah it's a pretty rough arc, not much to it. Don't worry though this is about as bad as it gets. Hope you enjoyed your break!
Yep, I nearly gave up on Clone Wars after Sunny Day myself... I can understand character interplay... but usually SOMETHING has to happen. Especially when 2/3rds of the characters don't speak!
Welcome back, I don't mind this arc even if it isn't the best. The hero of this arc is R2 and it does get better. I do my best to ignore Wac and shorty.
You're taking this hilarious, comedic, and existential episode very seriously, but MISSED YOU! Glad to have these back! I LOVE the character building of this episode. Try to look at it like a movie like The Goonies where they all learn something about each other and become sort of a family at the end.
This is one of the only major problems with The Clone Wars, with each season the best episodes get even better while the weaker ones become worse. I get what they were trying to do but the 'comedy' falls flat and WAC and Gascon are two of the show's most grating characters. It does pick up in the second half imo, but I'd be very surprised if someone genuinely defended this as their favourite episodes. Just know that we always appreciate the honest opinion Sesska!
The real crime of this is as you say we have a four-part arc starring droids on a big mission, and no C-3PO. ...Now, if that isn’t blasphemy, I don’t know what is.
Don't feel bad about reacting negatively to this story, it's the worst arc in TCW and very skippable. It's just so boring and the characters are not likeable or having a good time. The next two episodes are a bit better, but A Sunny Day in the Void is just... eh... I hate it. It has potential to be great but it's just kinda predictable and doesn't do anything interesting the whole time.
This arc is by far the weakest arc in Clone Wars, in my opinion. However, the next two episodes finishing this arc off are better than this two, and they do lead to some cool connections to Rebels and Bad Batch if you end up watching them. But after this arc things definitely pick up and you will be much, much, much more into most of the episodes, and I am definitely going to say no more about why 🙂
You know, I like to come back from break with a banger of a story arc.
I can’t wait to see your reaction to THAT FIGHT!
God, no wonder you felt burnout. I felt it too after I first watched this episode and I wasn't recording nothing, lol.
Thanks for muddling through this one Sessk.
It Gets better I swear
Would you consider this a a “filler episode?
These are the episodes that convinced Jess to go on break 😂😂
Fun fact: the second episode is the result of George Lucas telling the team to make an episode where nothing happens.
And is also George's favourite 👌

@@PerovNigma Oh yeah, I forgot about that, and about the movie too 🤣, sorry, my bad.

Which one is R7?

Can't remember but I think this is George Lucas's favorite arc
You are correct. I can't honestly claim I share his opinion.
I like this one. We need more existentialism in Star Wars.
This is the last light-hearted arc for a while.
Trust me, you’re not the only one who feels this way, but it is the roughest CW gets imo. Things will turn around soon…
am i the only one who finds this arc kinda enjoyable and charming?
Fun fact, “ A Sunny Day in the Void” is George Lucas’ favorite episode of the series. Can’t say I agree but he’s allowed to like weird and non action episodes.

Star Wars Explained made a good video on why it's Lucas' favourite.

Would you believe that THIS was gonna be jar jar at one point? This little guy.
he's a miniature version of Grell. only against droids

I always really likes the blue opening
I think R2-KT (the pink one) getting a starring role was really sweet. If you know the story behind that droid, you'll know why...💔
I wouldn't worry, this one was disliked by many as I recall.
Curiously George Lucas says it's his favourite.
Oh man, I've missed these. The "D Squad" stuff is about to improve, don't sweat it.
It's so hilarious that this is Lucas favourite arc
George Lucas’ favorite CW arc lol
This arc felt like it was 10 episodes lmao interesting idea but it could have been like one episode
I've already watched clone wars but I'm watching it with my wife for the first time and I'm caught up to you now. So i get to watch the episode then watch your reaction. This is a nice chilled arc before we get to the last two big arcs of this series.

Omg is that Mr. Krabbs?
R2D2, the hero or how I like to call him, Master Jedi R2D2
Welcome back, I don't mind this arc even if it isn't the best. The hero of this arc is R2 and it does get better. I do my best to ignore Wac and shorty.
I felt similar the first time I saw this arc, but found it an easier watch on subsequent viewings of the series.
Glad to see you back.
Welcome back, Sesska.

OH MY GOD I KNOW WHAT COMES NEXT AND I'M SO EXCITED!!!!

Actually I like this arc once you get to the second half of the story. LoL
Fact: This is George Lucas' favourite arc. Why is beyond me but it's his show so I won't question him
This is the arc I usually skip whilst watching clone wars to be completely honest
Every season has to have a meh or crappy episode or arc. Yes its kinda not great, but you are about to hit some of the best stuff ever!
Great reaction
Have u seen the trailer for the walking dead part 3?
It's not the best, but it gets better soon after this.
Welcome back ❤️😊
The real crime of this is as you say we have a four-part arc starring droids on a big mission, and no C-3PO. ...Now, if that isn’t blasphemy, I don’t know what is.
Yeah we can blame George Lucas for A Sunny Day in the Void.
Hey like these clone wars reactions make my life please
One of the many reasons I can't tell people they'll just love this show. It's got too many annoying episodes mixed in with the good ones lol.
Well if it makes you feel better, I feel pretty safe in saying that this is THE low point of the series, it’s only up from this standard.
Bring back Wac!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Lol your reaction was great! This arc really is not as enjoyable as the others...
:D
Tbh this is the weakest story arc in the entire show, however the next two arcs are the best
Don't feel bad about reacting negatively to this story, it's the worst arc in TCW and very skippable. It's just so boring and the characters are not likeable or having a good time. Can I say this is my least favourite arc in all of Clone wars. With a sunny day in the void my least favourite episode of all time
omg i hate these ahahah
This arc is not the best.
