Very good - Paul's cauls.
I would probably stain or paint the flat side of the caul with high contrast for easy orientation. Great video!
Thanks for spelling out just how much relief you need for cauls. Interesting idea using the matchfit clamps to simplify clamping - cauls have always been a royal PITA for me to clamp, like a one-armed juggler, so I haven't used them as much as I perhaps should have. Good video!
Thanks
Very nice work.... One thing I just haven't done thus far, cambered cauls...lol... in due time
I ask, Why the Dovetail grooves... 'Be Patent!'. Wait until further into the video. Yes that makes sense. I have been frustrated in the past trying to get the clamps on the Cauls. So now I know how to do it. Thanks Paul.
Hehe, if it helps I had the "brilliant" idea, ordered more clamps then got to routing the dovetail before I realised the bit/clamp didn't actually mate up the way I needed it to. I was asking myself "why the dovetails" for a few hours too! 😂
Argh! Adding the match-fit track was a brilliant idea, getting the squeeze clamps on mine has always been such a hassle!
Do any of your squeeze/quick clamps have a removable fixed head? I wonder if you could do something similar by bolting on a flat bar or something and using that in a groove. Wouldn't even have to be fully captured to make it easier to hook in!
@@TheWoodKnight I'm liking the match fit clamps, might just pick up a couple ;)

I don’t understand why you had to rip, flip, and glue the dovetail groove when you stated you forgot how the clamps work. What am I missing here?
The shape of the dovetail clamp means it can only go in one orientation. If I had left it in that orientation, the clamping force would have been too close to the edge and been relatively pointless having the caul at all.
Alternatively to ripping, I could have glued on an extra block afterwards
What brand are those clamps?
The green parallel clamps are Torquata Parallel clamps from Timbecon (they're actually Jet brand clamps, but in green) - I did a review on them awhile back ua-cam.com/video/hiWYSKvEF8Q/v-deo.html
The dovetail clamps are Microjig's "Matchfit" clamps.
@@TheWoodKnight Thanks green is my favorite color.
I’m just hoping I can get them in the United States.
Have you done something different with your voice over part? It's feels like your voice has been sped up a little bit or silences removed or something. Awesome video though thought about making these a few times and this is as great way of doing it!
The bits where my face isn't on camera are actually text to speech synthesized from my voice! I struggle with recording audio at times due to daily migraines, so I'm experimenting with software to let me make videos easier. RoboPaul will hopefully be a little better next time
