Hey Scott I know this is an old video but just wanted to say I appreciate everything you have done over the years. I've been reading and watching No Life Til Metal stuff since I found the website randomly one day as a teen. I learned about so many bands from you.
Thanks. Started off as death metal and moved into various other forms of metal after the first three albums. Steve Rowe is a good friend of mine. I've been a fanatic of them since 1991.
What an amazing band! I saw Mortification live at Cornerstone Festival back in the early 90s. Steve Rowe came down to our campsite one night to hang out with us and jam by campfire light!
Great collection Scott! I thoroughly enjoy your video's, and I love your job of , musician, promoter, producer , and sound engineer! Your a truly talented and wonderful person! The VC is a great place to discover music that is either new, or music I may have looked over in my youth!
Loved your video, great work on it and great info. I first heard them when I was with a friend on the road. Just getting back to hearing them and found your video. Awesome stuff you have on your channel. Keep up the great work! By any chance have you heard of the band called Angel 7, it is a Russian Christian Band with some pretty cool songs. The album you should check out it "Black and white"
Nice! There's a handful of items there that I don't have. My promo copy of "Scrolls" was just "Scrolls" by itself, did not have a 2nd disc/band on it. Was surprised you did not have more of the Metal Mind remasters (I managed to score them all, myself). Have never seen the original "Break the Curse" cassette. Knew it existed but have never seen the artwork for it until now. Very cool. I think I went a bit overboard with my own Mort collection, trying to get every pressing of every CD. Only missing a handful, myself now. not including vinyl and VHS tapes. A killer collection there. Oh, by the way, you had the "Ancient Prophecy/Overseer" as being released in 2015 and it was 2017 that it and the Post Momentary Affliction" vinyl were released.
I only grabbed one of the Metal Mind releases because I already have 2, 3 and 4 copies of all their albums already. The one I grabbed was Blood World because it has an awesome bonus track that wasn't really released on anything else outside the compilation it originally was released on. I also had the terrible KMG re-releases for a few years but eventually traded those off. After I posted the video I found a few errors. I guess I was rushed. Several typos and yup, wrong year on the 10" EP. Good catch.
Thanks, lol. Yeah, those KMG rereleases were pretty cheap. I really only like the ones that had the albums in their entirety as opposed to those ones that left off tracks. At the time, it was the only way to get some of those albums as most of that stuff was out of print. There were quite a few of those tracks I had not heard of until I picked up all of the Metal Mind releases. Still glad I picked them all up, regardless of all the previously released stuff on them. This is one of the few bands I have been trying to collect nearly everything they ever released in almost all formats, minus cassettes, though there are a few I'd still like to get my hands on, especially the Lightforce stuff. I was only ever able to get the compilation album they put out in 1994, which I picked up at a Mortification concert as well as that Mortification/Tourniquet split album. And now, only recently, was I able to pick up a promo copy of the "Erasing the Goblin" CD with the original cover/tracklisting.
WOW....that there is a lot or Morty.....I went and took a look through my colIection and I have a copy with the mispelled Nuclear blast versionou as well..pretty stoked about that...think I might have to go shopping for a couple to complete my collection...Cheers brother
Yup, wasn't even all of it. Forgot about their latest compilation (which sucks due to terrible or no mastering.) Do you have Triumph of Mercy in your CD collection? If not, I have a very special copy I will send you.
Scott Waters np I dont have copy of it...I have a toral of 16 cds and 4 lps....dude....i was on line looking for a copy of erasing the goblin....thats an awesome CD
Love your collection, Scott. I've watched it a couple times as I try to beef up my own collection. Cool thing about those Metal Mind reissue's is they are gold disc. I've found several of these fairly cheap on eBay recently.
Great video. Thanks for doing that. When I was an early teen in the mid 90's, my local Christian Bookstore employed this total metalhead to look after the music section. I'm certain he was responsible for bringing in Mortification and other bands to southeast Texas. One day, he convinced my friend and I to each buy a Mortification album. I think it was 1995. My friend bought Scrolls and I got Blood World. Until then, the heaviest band I listened to was probably Bride. It took a little while for me to adjust, but once I did, it was awesome. Scrolls, Post, and Blood remain my faves with honorable mentions going to Envision, Triumph, and Hammer. I also didn't know who you were until you mentioned you're band, Ultimatum. Awesome. I remember listening to songs released on Roweproductions compilations. Fun! \m/
Awesome video!!! I have a few releases from Mortification and still at this day... Still crank it it up but after when everyone in the original line up... I lost interest in them... It's great to see Steve Rowe still killing it... I seen them live here in town when he was sick and he was killer!!! Thanks again brother man for the video!!!
A lot of people didn't really care for them after Sherlock left the band. They definitely experimented with their sound a lot, so I totally understand why some people didn't care for them.
I hope you are not flipping off the viewers while holding the vinyls. Haha! Good video, Scott. I remember listening their self-titled album three years ago while practicing the online permit driving test. Doesn't get any brutal than that! Hehe. I should listen to their music more often. They are one of the most legendary Christian Death Metal bands of all time. I hope you are having a great week. Take care. 😌
I like some early death metal stuff. I got bored with death metal in the 90's, but I still love the straight forward grunt-n-grind death metal bands from the early 90's. Obituary, Mortification, Gorfest, Carcass, Metanoia, Crimson Thorn, Six Feet Under...etc.
I would agree that "Scrolls of the Megilloth" is one of the best in the genre. I listened to many death metal bands back then from Death to Gorguts, to Entombed, Cynic, etc. Did not know that Jayson Sherlock designed those covers, that's pretty impressive.
I actually got my oldest nephew Kris into Mortification. I always played their albums. When he heard the song Nocturnal he was like what is that because of the insects in the beginning. Now he loves them along with Tourniquet and more. Kris listens to you also... Both of us are trying to get Mortification on vinyl
Great collection of Mortification - I feel like you could have talked for an hour. There's so much history and lineup changes. I had no idea of the special Nuclear Blast release of Blood World that has the song Entering the eternal dawn - I'll be looking for that for sure.
Oh I definitely could have talked for an hour. I left out so much information I would have liked to discussed. The Blood World release with Entering the Eternal Dawn is on Metal Mind Records.
I have a few shirts. I have their patches on my vest. Also have promo photos, flyers, concert posters, etc. Been a bit of a fanatic since the early 90's.
Had the first Mortification with original cover, found it in a Christian music store, then heard about the "controversy" Also had Scrolls Had a couple others, first compilation and Envision, for the most part liked everything Steve did How about a Tourniquet collection video?
I still love that first self-titled album. Simplistic grunt-n-grind death metal. I think I did a Tourniquet video already... ua-cam.com/video/TOxaJrbSjk0/v-deo.html
Jayson painted the cover for the third album for Intense Records. I believe that Nuclear Blast wanted something different for their release, thus the Nuclear Blast cover. I don't think it was a big controversy like the first album.
That's an awesome collection! Funny thing, The Silver Cord is Severed is one of my favorite Mortification albums. I can see why people dislike it, but to me it has a straightforward power, cohesion and tightness that just blows my mind. I don't like as much the stuff after Relentless.
I own 4 of Mortifications albums Scrolls of the Megilloth, Bloodworld, Hammer of God and Primitive Rhythm Machine And I really love Jayson Sherlock's drumming and his side projects such a talented man God has bestowed upon us My top favorites of Mortification's albums are Mortification and Scrolls of the Megilloth 1990 and 1980 Death Metal is the best.
Agree that the late 80's and early 90's death metal is best. Tended to get boring to me after that. There are still some great bands. Morta Skuld comes to mind.
Cannibal Corpse Obituary Crimson Thorn Autopsy ABORTED Death Have to be some of the best I've heard especially Autopsy Chris Reifert is an awesome vocalist and drummer
I can't believe that I missed this album. It's just hard keeping up while I'm stuck in this hotel. The only time the internet will play a video without constant freezing is super late at night. Amazing collection from beginning to end. Not a bad album to be had. The Light Force album is pretty high on the want list. I would love for one of yalls to repress that bad boy! I really hope that Soundmass keeps going and releases everything from Mort. Didn't know that Jayson did the artwork for PMA. I love just about everything that Jayson has been involved in. Have you checked out his latest project Revulsed? If so what do you think of the album?
I haven't heard Revulsed yet. I've heard good things about it. I'm anxious for the vinyl release of Terraphobia on Roxx. Another Roxx family release. Great straight-forward death metal album. It will be the next in the Underground Series. I wonder if Soundmass will release the Lightforce album at some point? It was a Pure Metal release so it may be wrapped up in contracts and legal garbage like much of the old Pure Metal stuff. Who knows?
Hey Scott, a ton of stuff! I'm not a big death metal person , as a matter of fact the only death metal I like is death and I never knew they were death metal until this year. You make motification sound good , I'll check them out . I'll be in touch.
Mortification's early albums fall more on the side of early death metal much like Death, Kreator, Sodom, etc. I think you might like Post Momentary Affliction, Break the Curse or their first self-titled album.
LOVE Believer! And if you like Believer I assume you also like Sacrament? I'm so pumped that the two Sacrament albums are getting a vinyl release this year.
I do like Sacrament but had no idea they were getting reissued. That's awesome! I can only hope the early Believer records get reissued, they're my favorite Christian thrash band for sure.
Been one of my favorites since 1991. They were fairly popular in the 90's when death metal was the rage. They were in the news all the time for other death metal and black metal bands threatening to kill them if they came to their town. Pretty ridiculous.
Yup have their first 2 on CD. I was in a death metal phase for awhile in early late 80s early 90s. Musically i love the death sound I'm just super picky bout vocalist when it comes to that death style vocal.
Hey Scott I know this is an old video but just wanted to say I appreciate everything you have done over the years. I've been reading and watching No Life Til Metal stuff since I found the website randomly one day as a teen. I learned about so many bands from you.
I have never heard of these guys, You seem to love them.
Nice dedication to Sherrie.
Thanks. Started off as death metal and moved into various other forms of metal after the first three albums. Steve Rowe is a good friend of mine. I've been a fanatic of them since 1991.
What an amazing band! I saw Mortification live at Cornerstone Festival back in the early 90s. Steve Rowe came down to our campsite one night to hang out with us and jam by campfire light!
watching in Dubai, I've got a few of those albums - God bless Steve for keeping the faith
Awesome Video Scott! I'm fan of Mortification too.
Awesome! Thank you for watching.
Great collection Scott! I thoroughly enjoy your video's, and I love your job of , musician, promoter, producer , and sound engineer! Your a truly talented and wonderful person! The VC is a great place to discover music that is either new, or music I may have looked over in my youth!
Thank you for the kind words. Heck yes, I discover all sorts of bands I missed back in the day thanks to the VC. Glad to be a part of it.
Thanks for doing this Scott !!
Welcome. Appreciate you watching.
Fellow UA-camr BrainSmasher turned me onto that Paramæcium cd. What an incredible Death Doom masterpiece.
Heck yes. Exhumed of the Earth is a death/doom masterpiece.
I remember enjoying their early stuff in high school. Not into them anymore but I'm glad they are still putting out stuff.
Last I heard Steve Rowe isn't doing very well so they may not be putting anything further out. Hope he is well and pulls through.
Scott Waters Damn that sucks. Hopefully he gets back on his feet.
Impressive mortification collection Scott👍
Loved your video, great work on it and great info.
I first heard them when I was with a friend on the road.

Hello Márllon. Thanks for watching brother.

LOL! Not consciously. Yup, I'd agree that they are a legendary band.
I have the DVD of Live Humanitarian. Very good concert and sound.
Didn't strike me as a death metal guy!!! That's so cool!
Scott Waters a band you defiantly need to check out is Gatecreeper then. They sound right up your alley
killer video Scott, awesome mortification collection \m/ stay metal brother cheers Christian
Thanks Christian. Did you do a Mortification collection video a while back?
No, just i have mortification the curse album brother cheers

Scott Waters Metal mind records - ahh thanks for correcting me. The good thing is you go into great detail on your website for each release.
I've got most of their CDs, just a few more to get. I wish i had their patches and shirts, missed out on those.
I have a few shirts. I have their patches on my vest. Also have promo photos, flyers, concert posters, etc. Been a bit of a fanatic since the early 90's.
I've got a scrolls of the megiloth and the break the curse t shirt I will take them to my grave lol you can find a bunch of there merch at Metalhelm
Had the first Mortification with original cover, found it in a Christian music store, then heard about the "controversy"

post momentary affliction is my fave
Just ordered the reissue of Light Force Mystical Thieves on vinyl
Nice. Classic album with a NWOBHM feel like early Maiden, Tank or the first Tygers of Pan Tang. Raw heavy metal with a punk ethic.
Post momentary affliction and scrolls are essential listens in my opinion. The first few Mortification albums hold up really well…cheers
I love Mortification
Hey Scott thanks for the great video. How could I get in touch with you if I wanted to speak with you ?
Eddie Maiden ultmetal@yahoo.com or Scott Waters on Facebook.
Do you know what happened to Cameron Hall? Is he still active in music?
Awesome collection man. I love Mortification! Do you like Believer by any chance?

Only 300 copies being pressed. Grab 'em quick. I'd love to see the first three Believer albums reissued as well.
just an all-around great band The Early stuff dude I would put right in there with Morbid Angel Benediction and other bands like that
I totally agree, especially Scrolls and Post Momentary.
I was praying for Steve
Interesting video, even though I don't know anything by the band :)
Been one of my favorites since 1991. They were fairly popular in the 90's when death metal was the rage. They were in the news all the time for other death metal and black metal bands threatening to kill them if they came to their town. Pretty ridiculous.
Not a big fan but killer collection Scott \m/
Have you heard much Mortification?
Yup have their first 2 on CD. I was in a death metal phase for awhile in early late 80s early 90s. Musically i love the death sound I'm just super picky bout vocalist when it comes to that death style vocal.
I seen them live envision tour
