i would clarify that mecha is underutilized in that it's be completely relegated to strategy tactics and arcade arena battlers for the longest time. it was either regular extreme VSs or Super Robot wars/SD gundam. rarely did e mech action game appear especially one that got translated
One of the interesting bits of lore from the anime that was sadly never touched on in the game. The main reason Bahram uses mostly A.I. piloted O.F. is because Metatron seems to draw out either the worst or kindest personality traits from the pilots. This can be seen with the main character of the OVA, the homicidal tendencies of the pilots from the first game, and Nohman's ever deepening madness. Side note; check out the Gameboy Advance game Fists of Mars, it is similar to a mix of Front Mission and Fire Emblem. Its pretty fun.
This is the game where the word cockpit makes sense. Also I could not agree more with the title of the video. Z.O.E. 1 = DMC1 while Z.O.E. 2 = DMC 3. In that "Dynasty Warriors" mission I just vector cannon with extreme prejudice the field each wave and the heal my allies.
