I have the nexus 310 to. What I did with mine, was installing a extra air tube along side the bottom. This air tube alone has 120 liters pump. And it will clean the chamber totally. Should be noted that my pond is only 14.000 liters. And with mild stock koi. Only got 9 kois. From 30cm to 70cm.
So have now got my new pond finished and waiting for styrene to cure and clear. This one also Has a window. I’m about to have a Nexus filter put on it. The pond is outside but I live in Jersey channel islands and we do not really get terribly cold weather . I would like to have a water blade going into the pond for the extra air ration and I love to hear the sound of water running. Do you have a video or can you tell me what I would need to run a 450 cm stainless steel water blade with this filter ! would I need a separate pump or can it be done through the filter . Many thanks. . You always post brilliant videos and I always check them before doing anything with my koi as I have had them for quite a while now and they are quite big I would hate anything to happen or hurt them . I am looking forward to them going into their new big pond with its window as they love looking out and following me around the garden with their eyes of course ! Obviously not literally getting out the pond and following me 😃🤣
Hi Adam. I am in the middle of re doing my pond. It’s going to be a rectangle shape and around the 3500gallon mark. Would you recommend getting a oase proficlear compact? Or a nexus 320 with a Cetus sieve? Any info/advice would be great.
hi adam i have seen a lot of your video's and your ponds look fantastic ! i have a small discus fish hatchery and use a sand filled swimming pool filter which is a lot easier to operate and keeps my water sparkling clean . my question is this , why mess around with these filters that need cleaning and maintenance ,....i have not done a thing to my filter in years and the fish are content and breeding . sand has an enormous surface area per volume , fluidized or not . is it a matter of water flow or are there other reasons , i cant imagine that you never thought of it .
ive got 2 of the original 300's which have been faultless for the last 11 years, the middle stem pipe is perfect for flushing out the media after draining, can't believe they have done away with it. To be honest they have never been as dirty as your chamber and your media looks like its turning black, i have always used the lids on mine and even after 2 weeks they have never had anything that a standard hose can't remove, I'm thinking that yours is going like that because they are not kept in darkness and all the nutrients trapped in your filter from fish waste is making your life harder then it needs to be turning everything green
really nice setup good stuff see u like your koi having them in ya livingroom good man gave u got ant suggestions on algea thanks steve string algea get it every year really starting to pee me off now thanks again
Hi, Thanks. Its called blanket weed, you can get a product called Cloverlead Blanket Answer. this will solve your problems by killing all the blanket weed. just be carefull that you know what your ponds volume is and use the correct dose and you will be fine. Adam
To clean the bottom part of the nexus easier -what about turning the air bar over so it blows air at the bottom before rising and boiling k1 to clean. Just a thought
Stuart Barrowcliff The air line is actually about 2” from the bottom and the air would just turn around and go straight up anyway .Good though it might work if the air line was on the bottom of the Nexus. Adam
I think if the air pump was powerful enough you'd be surprised how effective it is. Seen it done on an Eazypod and nexus 200 both worked brill. Great set up by the way. Good stuff.
John Davison no deffinatly not table salt it has chemicles in it to stop clumping and so on that arnt good for koi i use PDV salt its also really cheep i get it for £7.50 for 25kg bag. thanks for the kind words Adam
Adam .Julyan Thanks Adam. It's something I've never done before. I only have a small koi pond similar to your old pond before your 'mega pond build'. I only have 4 Koi in about 1500 gallons so the water stays pretty clear. I didn't want to put too many in to see how the system copes with them.
I am surprised you used the 310 and not the 320 which can filter 7,500 gals. I use one of these and a sieve and my pool is 6,200 gal. Really you need 2 x 310 Filters to cope with the amount of water. Again it depends on how may fish, how often you feed them, your pool is indoors which make a difference. I am cleaning my filter 2-3 times a week with around 26 Koi.
Jason Beard the 310 and 320 are exactly the same but the 320 is a newer model that atempts to solve some issues. yes i would have been better off with 2 nexus but i chose one and a bead filter. later i added another bead after the nexus which worked fantastic and i would reccomend everyone with a nexus put a bead after it. but i didnt know this at the time its one of those trial and error things and i didnt really have room for another nexus. anyway i have removed the nexus and replaced it with a drum filter now which was definatly a good choice.
Don't you think drums are a bit poncey i like the baki shower yet ugly as hell but best on market..sorry was getting 210s mixed ed up. Im limited to space but find i get great water quality..but still maturing only 2.5 months old the new pond
Jason Beard their is nothing poncey about a drum they are a machine that does the job. seriously if you think your water lookes good now put a drum on. the sun shines into my water on a morning and you carnt even see a beam it just hits the bottom. the fish look like the are swiming trough air when at the windows. also its been running 1 month or so and i havent touched it yet great for going on holiday. check out my current setup drum and bakki river so far my water has never been as good and the river is my own idea not saying its any better looking that a bakki shower buts its a lot less noisy for indoor use. ua-cam.com/video/Lvz4ImT_hcQ/v-deo.html&feature=gp-n-y&google_comment_id=z13hjf0odvz4gbyrn04cehmyjm3qwltj3kc0k
Hi Adam...>Great set up...I am new to Nexus...I have a 2nd hand 300...Very nice it is too...However I have a question re cleaning...No problems at all with the main bit..My problem is the return hole back into the pond..Situated immediately above the Nexus sign...Mine has a mesh cage in front of it... The overflow pipe sits here...What I am finding is once drained filthy water remains...This obviously gets returned to the pond...I am obviously doing something wrong..Help please.. Regards Steve
+Patrick Sarmiento I was using 250litre of K1 although there was not many fish in the pond at that time and it did struggle at times that is why i have now replaced it and with a more appropriate setup although the Nexus was not my only filtraton it also had two bead filters.
you "feed the fish a lot" yeah its obvious since you can tell they're all obese! It's not good to feed fish that much. To put it simply, they will have health issues just like humans that eat too much. Please do some research on fish diet. Just google "overfeeding Koi". So many people overfeed their fish and your video is a perfect example of a hobbyist loving something to death

With that load, how many Liters of K1 you are using?
