Be a good idea to have a way to connect fallout shelters so that you can keep adding them one at a time as you can afford them. Working your way up to a large shelter over time.

@@bastionwolf yes. Look at his bigger bunkers. He connects the ''smaller' ones to make 1 big one. In theory you could dig up the bunker and just add another part on. This would of course make the price rise significantly since you need to excavate multiple times and do demolition if you want concrete around your bunker

That's great that you're making more options available, specially for smaller or confined yards.
I think I could utilize this size by putting 2 together along with an escape hatch.
I don't have a family, just me and dog, we could use one side to relax and the other for additional storage...all those dog treats take up lots of space...it would also make an excellent COM room too!

Hey. I’m considering either the 8x16, or the 10x20. The price difference is far crazier than you’d think. An extra 2x4 is tens upon tens of thousands more after delivery and installation. I was quoted $100k for the 8x16 after delivery and install, and $175k for the 10x20 after delivery and install. Insane. I’ve thought about my dog. I’m not sure how that would work. Feces, urine, dog food, water. I’m not sure if it’s doable, unless someone has hundreds upon hundreds of thousands to spend.

I don't see any provision for plumbing. Of course nothing is impossible, but if you really want plumbing, it probably wouldn't cost much more to upgrade your shelter to one that comes equipped for it. To go it on the cheap, maybe buy a large cassette toilet from an RV supply center and get an extra cassette.

I don't see any plumbing capability. However there are chemical toilets that can be stored in the shelter along with the needed food and water. Things will get a little smelly in a week or two, but it would work if you can cope with boredom in the dark.

In one of his videos of the bigger bunkers he mentioned a connection to a septic tank. However that was for an acreage that already had septic and he didn’t elaborate on the system.
This under garage bunker is a bit stupid not to be connected to the house utilities. It’d be simpler to use ICF to build hidden basement extension under garage, driveway or patio. Then you could use the water tank regularly and keep it fresh.

I don't understand how the inflatable shelter actually does anything in a nuclear situation. Where is the shielding from gamma radiation? Where is the protection from blast effects? • @WorldWalker128
      @WorldWalker128 2 роки тому +2

Well, a problem is that with a nuclear detonation, it can also create an EMP. It might not just level and irradiate the area, but also fry any electronics in the area that survive the blast wave, thus rendering that entirely useless. Then there's also taking into account how long a battery lasts constantly in use without a recharge. Probably not more than a day or two at the most. A nuke would probably knock out the power in your area even if you weren't directly affected by the destruction beyond that. How effective are the filters as well? Filtering out pollution and dust would certainly help, but would it be enough? Then finally, cars aren't built to be airtight. Even if the car's filter protects you from irradiated particles coming in through your vents, does it pull enough air so that everywhere else where air could get in is only flowing outward instead?

Our water level gets high enough that the radon pipes make a gurgling sound sometimes because they are pulling water and our basement had a couple feet of water in it once, so we assumed that our property wouldn't be a candidate for a bunker. $40k is not currently in the budget but it's not so high that it couldn't be planned for someday in the future.

A high-water table is not the problem - it is flooding. Does it flood higher than 6 inches above ground as that is the hatch height. If not, then 2 things can be done for your shelter, one; foam (urethane foam) the outside so the steel is protected as much as possible and two; install 4 antimony blocks on the corners for sacrificial anodes. The water will allow corrosion of the metal when present.

Here is an idea - can you raise the ground in a berm like structure? Maybe have a berm, in the yard, that is a flower garden, a landscaping design. That raises the hatch up off the ground and hides everything in plants.

VM, search UA-cam for "Installing Two Big Boy Bomb Shelters Side-by-Side". The installation includes watertight welding, french drains, and sump pumps.

Atlas shelter During forest fires one of the worst places someone can hide is inside of a cave. Because the fire will suck the oxygen out of the cave. How does your bunkers stop this from happening?

Why filters located inside living space? All radiation particles will stay inside the filter and blast everyone with radiation. Any reason for this design?

How can that thin nuclear fallout tent, keep out radiation? it seems to go against both mass and distance, i could understand it if you dig it down under a meter of dirt, but fallout will land on the top of the tent, and unless there is thick matterials like led plates all around the sides and top of the tent, i would say it dont work, atleast you wont survive for that many years after`?

Hey, I was wondering if there was any "bomb shelter" option on sale, something that could protect you from the nuclear blast as well as the fallout? Anyone feel free to answer!

You should not make the escape route hold sand above the door. In case of an nuclear explosion all the sand will turn to glass!
