I owned a 1953 Spartanette in the 70’s. Very cool trailer! Best of luck.

Did the same digging when I rescued my 51 Spartanette Tandem from a small AZ desert town. I brought solvent, grease and cotter pins for the wheel bearings though. My hitch was in good enough shape to tow it out from where it sat since the early 70’s.

It did take a few trips up to the trailer before I was able to move it. At an hour each way it added up!

I just got the same trailer, permanently parked, out of a trailer park. Took 5 days with no wheels, a frozen brake drum and hitch, and plumbing and electrical connections to take apart!

Yes, it takes a lot of time! I took 5 trips up to Vermont to get it ready before I could have it on a trailer

Replacing those wheels and tires can be tricky. I've had to Jack the whole trailer up to get them on or off before . if you can a guy wants to hitch up , roll the one tire up onto a block of wood to ram it up into the fender well driving the other wheel/tire down so you can get to it . They are brutal at times .

And it was brutal! Working outside on soft and uneven ground made it all the more difficult

I just bought a 1949 Spartan Royal Mansion, and I feel for you. I've spent several hours trying to put new tires non it and still have had no success. The tires are too big even though they are the same size as the originals. I will try to jack it up higher tomorrow or maybe removing the bucket that hold the leaf springs up. Wish me luck. Please. Please....

You have a diamond in the rough, do get it under a roof over even if you do not have plans to restore it now. Restored this mobile home is worth a lot of money. I would think that you do not need to have it "trailer-ed" to move it, we moved one on original tires, for 250 miles. It's the digging it out so you can pull out that is going to be the hassle. I would have someone change the tires out, and though the rims are old, it is possible to find the old tires that fit it... May take some calls, but you can get the old tires to fit those rims, rims will probably need to be sanded due to rust so that they do not bust the new tires... hassle yes, but do-able.

Thank you Carrie! We are halfway through the restoration and have more videos coming on this project soon! It was cheaper for me to have it trailered to my shop due to many reasons and how remote the trailer was located. In this video I replaced the wheels with brand new rims and tires to do away with the old split rims and original tires. Thank you for following along!

You seem like a nice young man. You have a tremendous amount of work ahead of you. You might (as often happens) be overwhelmed. The value keeps going up and up on Spartans...the tiny home craze points to the fact that riveted aircraft aluminum outside skin and framing is superior to steel, wood or fiberglass.
Likely, you will need to strip the entire interior. In 70 years, the insulation has surely failed (gravity takes most to the bottom 1/3). Also, though originally plumbed in copper and properly wired, with the interior stripped is when you replace or throughly check and repair. Unfortunately, even the best kept of them will require the same. The outside body and frame are what you will want to concentrate on first. Best to you.
Your wood cabinets look very nice. They set the Spartan above most other brands.
New wheels and tires shouldn't come to good use for some time but hopefully will tend to inspire you to go on.

do you know what the bolt pattern is on the spartanette?

What size are the tires? I just reciently rescued a 1953 Spartan manor and I can’t read the tire size on any of the original tires I’m guessing 225/75r15. Actually if you could tell me what you actually ordered that would be great
