Just wanted to give a little insight as an airline employee, Departure time means we need to get the plane pushed off the gate taxiing to the runway by that time. Yes the plane is physically still there but the cabin doors are probably sealed and locked for departure already. We NEED to close the flight for boarding 15 before because we need to do the paperwork and checks before the aircraft is clear to release the breaks. Once we closed the flight on the boarding system it alerts the flight crew and operations to start the final paperwork. It's not as simple as "just board and go even tho the plane is still here" because everything is in the middle of getting finalized already. Especially if the late passenger has bags, those bags are already pulled and on the way back to the bag room. Once we finalize boarding your reservation is gone from that flight so if you showed up and wanted to board we have to RE DO your ticket and that takes time. What a lot of people don't know is that ground crew get an unbelievable amount of shit from the higher ups if a flight is even late by a minute pushing out from the gate. I've literally cried because a flight couldn't release the breaks fast enough and it showed we were 1 minute late because we decided to wait for a first class passenger who was taking their sweet time because now we all have to write an incident email on why we didn't make the time despite there being no IRROP (irregular ops like weather, crew delay or mechanical) to cause the delay. I've heard of some airlines that even demand that the aircraft is AIRBORNE by the time of departure which is extremely stressful and difficult to do if you close boarding on time at just 15 mins before because you still need to push off and actually taxi to the runway. Can't imagine the pressure the ground crew is on in those situations. Not sure which airline they flew with but on the boarding pass it should read "boarding closes 15 mins prior to departure time" or "boarding begins 10:25 and boarding ENDS 10:45". It's easy to judge and be frustrated when you don't know what goes on behind the scenes, I get it but remember that we are human too, please be kind we're only doing our jobs. Please show up on time to the boarding gate. Can't speak for the gate agents at the flight Geo and Bart were supposed to be on but just wanted everyone to know that a lot of stuff goes on behind the scenes to operate a flight.
but they got there fifteen minutes before BOARDING ended. So departure is usually 30 - 45 minutes after so they were actually early for boarding. So I think what you said is understood and makes sense but it’s not applicable here which is why it was confusing.
@@DavidSoComedy so boarding ended at 11 and they got there at 10:45 correct? hmm that's weird they weren't let on, the only reason I can think of is that one of their crew members were really close on timing out so they rushed boarding/boarded earlier and closed it earlier to prevent the flight from doing delayed from having to find another crew member. Hope the airline rebooked them quick.
I worked in an airport: the 15 mins is bc they need more than that time to check your bags in and to put your luggage in the plane bc they stack all the luggage into multiple metal boxes which means theyd have to open up the cargo and take an already sealed box out, move the box away from the plane, load the luggage, and move it back. Also, I know that the airport that I was working in, every minute over that the plane hasnt departured on time is a $2K fine. Also, sometimes they oversell seats knowing people will no show so since it was the last 15 minutes, it couldve been a combo of the two. But the way they attempted to explain it was mad dumb
I think that makes sense but that’s not up to the customer to figure out ya know? That’s why on the ticket it states boarding time and departure. As a customer it’s up to us to get their by the boarding time or before. As was explained to me by my flight attendant friend The departure time is the variable that counts for all the baggage not the boarding. We just need to get their by then unless some shit happens lol
@@DavidSoComedy I think you have until 30 mins or something before the stated departure time to board. But airlines should put that shit in big bold letters
Everytime i watch this podcast i get flashbacks of my childhood. Example this one brings up the fact I was dragged behind a someone’s car in elementary school. The driver forgot I was getting in the car
I don't know if you guys heard of Khamzat Chimaev in the UFC but bro that guy is like Khabib 2.0 (same mentality and comes from Chechnya in the Caucuses mountain's) he's only done 2 fights so far in the UFC, but bro I feel that guy has potential to be a champion in his division.
David you know it’s crazy my high school wrestling coach is friends with Israel Martinez who is one of Jon Jon’s and Holly Holm’s coaches. He was at Fight Island in Abu Dhabi .He also coaches a private Catholic school called Montini Catholic who won the state championship in wrestling for the last 8 years. I got to see the team Wrestle and my coach told me they had 5 D1 wrestlers
