Is the intent to see if these people can tell which is cheaper/more expensive, or is it for them to pick their preferred item and then seeing if they picked the expensive one? It seems to me like they always play to "win", but that doesn't really show if they have expensive "taste". Often times, they actually prefer the cheaper one but know its cheap.
