Love the videos. I would say Fuji made a video camera in the X-H2S, the stacked sensor is much better with rolling shutter, and lots of slow-mo options. 6.2k open gate. It's not a cinema camera, but it's video focused.

If you’re not a photographer.
You know, as a Fuji shooter for a time I used to watch and feel so validated. Now I watch for anti-validation. It’s not even commiseration any more. So I feel like watching is now like spiritual training, to learn to accept responsibilities for my actions and inactions.
The problem with Canon is once you decide you want Canon you have to then decide which Canon lens mount system, of the 23 Canon lens mount systems, that you want to sink coin into. Or have friends instead.
No you don't, there are adapters even for M42 vintage lens, Minolta and FD.
Yes, of late, I have switched over to using almost 100% using Leica M mount lens for my mirrorless cameras. I have the Voightlander 28mm f/2.0, 35mm f/2.0 APO, 50mm f/3.5 Vintage and the 75mm f/1.5 Vintage. I find using fully manual lenses so easy and fast to use and unlike AF lenses they don't hunt in low light. What a relieve ! Forget shooting at 20 fps with the eye tracking or vehicle tracking mode. No body does that when shooting film in the old days. Its always " one shot, one kill" if you are a well trained photographer like Steve McCurry.
For 1080p, the best and cheapest to use is the Canon M100. Good enough foe me.

Their too stupid to turn the thing sideways before recording every second of their meaningless life and eventually will be too old to see the postage stamp thing they made when they were younger! If you pair the XH2S with a Fuji LM lens, tweak the AF speed, and turn off face detect and set it to Single-Eye detect, the AF is legit.
can you turn off face detect and still have eye AF on? what speed do you choose?
@@jaegerschtulmann I worded it poorly, it’s not completely off. One reason Fuji cameras pulse so much in video is because they switch between left and right eyes constantly during continuous af. So to reduce that, you go into face detection and select left or right eye priority. Another reason it’s annoying is that the af speed is really fast by default. For general purpose I like to use -3 so the focusing looks nice and smooth. Reducing tracking sensitivity also reduces the hunting. I use 0.
Thank you for providing useful feedback as in, this is how I make my Fuji work for video. It's so easy for lamers to just say "Oh the AF sucks, get a Sony" when it's really not that simple. It's the obverse of "I picked up a Sony and those menus were godawful. Back to Fuji for me.."
Let me tell you's a secret their all great. Nikon, Canon, Fuji, Sony, Olympus, just slightly different settings from one another.
Hi Kasey, I sold my XT3 for a Sony A7IV. For video it made a huge difference, no more focus hunting. But I lost the fun of taking pictures. It's a full frame, it's a great camera, but I do not enjoy it like I did with the Fuj. I decided to buy a Pixii, it's a rangefinder camera hand made in France that does not do video. It does not have a flippy screen, in fact it has no screen at all. It's all manual, I will use my old Leica R lenses on it. What do you think about the Pixii camera? what would you say to Pixii users?
Are you trolling? Haven't you watched the first 7 seasons of How Kasey Met Your Mother? He hates the photographer species. He actually has never taken pictures. He doesn't like the sound that the shutter makes. Also, he doesn't know that a lot of cameras have silent shutters.
@@smashingfables6307 I believe that the photographer inside Kasey is still alive. And how do I know this? I know it because inherently he is a loser, like many of us (that's why we love him). And that makes him a photographer. In fact he has an instagram account. He will come out of the photo closet someday, I'm sure. And I believe that a Pixii camera might be the camera to unleash his photographic skills. Besides, he is a great stills narrator proven by scientology
I still haven't found af that works for video, a7iv included. I also still shoot concert stills with manual focusing unless it's in broad daylight.
@@fredriksvard2603 For the type of work you do, I would also use manual focus. In my case for daylight, one person interview, in the street, locked to his eye and face, the A7IV hase never messed up a shot.I never cared about AF, in fact for years I used Leica R manual lenses. With Fuji, never trusted the AF, the A7IV is the first camera that I can rely on the AF, at least in my experience. But for low light situations, I would probably go manual

When you carry your phone in your backpack make sure you have an EMF mitigation device of sorts so your vitals don't get irradiated over time.
Let's be direct here. Canon is hands down the most boring, generic, soulless, unaesthetic camera you can buy. I wouldn't buy one even if i was the biggest stereotypical canon user: the wedding photographer. So i perfectly understand the guy who sold it. I'b probably buy first a fridge with an incorporated webcam to take pictures on the street than i would buy a canon to take pictures alone inside the house, i would feel less ashamed of myself.
You could offer a cold beer to everyone who lets you take their picture :-D

I'm probably everything you hate XH2, 18mm F.1.4 using the joby gorilla pod. I came back to Fuji after a 15 year break, last camera was the S9600. Honestly I was worried that coming into a interchange lens system after so long would be a steep learning curve so I wanted the familiar feel which is still there 😅. Now I make UA-cam videos using the 18mm prime which is pretty good though not as good as the 23mm. Amazing video but too tight. Youre right the stabilisation is jerky as hell handheld even with IBIS and Boost enabled, the autofocus to be honest works for me (set prices to camera most of the time). Videos come off the camera looking amazing which is great for me as I know nothing about Flog, 10bit, colour grading or all the other stuff you talks about 😂. I would like to ask about the upcoming tamron 11-20 F.2.8 for X mount. Very close focus distance so good lens right?

I'm an old film photographer, obviously, light years behind the digital video camera curve, but it would seem to me, if I were vlogging with a camera phone, I'd want to be able to switch from selfie mode to forward camera mode, on the fly. To see one or the other mode, on my viewing screen. Show the viewer where you're going and what you're seeing ahead and then back to selfie commentary mode -- with just a flip of a switch at the base of the vlogging pole. If this is already a thing and common knowledge... ignore my ignorance.
there is even an app that could record video at the same time from two inputs, the front and back cameras, and overlay one with another, creating a small circle in a corner for the selfie camera video. Pretty handy.
The sluggish AF of Fuji is really puzzling considering that if you have ever been to a TV studio it's mostly Fujinon lenses.
Or maybe it's because TV studios never need their lens to autofocus?

Sony Alpha rumours says a full frame zv camera is coming out March 31, A7siii sensor but with A7rV AF, in A7C size body, no viewfinder and seems to over heat easily, hopefully they fix that before release, 4K 120p no crop, $2500. Thoughts?

I don't bring my phone out, I use like a light WiFi-enabled portable landline. For casual thing I don't want to boot up a computer for.
People used to only be able to contact you if you were home. I liked that, I went back to it. If you waited until the last second to get hold of me then that's in you. I make plans to meet with people and I stick to them. I don't get pinged in the day by corporations telling me to engage because I'm an untapped resource for 15 seconds.
I carry my Ricoh GRIII though. Life is good. I'm more focused, and I'm not looking down as much in the day so I have less back and shoulder pain. Recommend swapping out the phone for a tool that's built for purpose.
I run the Sony zv1 with a ULANZI BG-2 Power bank Grip and ulanzi wide angle lens that doubles for maco too. It's a dream.
The ZV-1 and ZV-1F are very different cameras. In short, you want the 1F. There are a lot of videos that compare the two. Despite the fact that the 1F is less expensive, it has Sony's newer technology, and they didn't intentionally cripple it. It just works.

@@POVwithRC I have the ZV-1F. Contract Detect Autofocus are definitely words in the English language, but who cares as long as it stays in focus? And it does. I've never had anything even slightly out of focus.

Regarding the S5ii's 1080p - they don't have PDAF above 1080p30. Not a huge support for fHD from Panasonic there.

Does your perfect camera still need to have a detachable screen (or a remote screen)?
If so have you ever thought of vlogging with a drone (not flying but velcro mounted to something like a gorilla-pod).
As you record your audio separately, (as you should) it wouldn’t matter that the drone only records video (not audio).
Advantages are the footage should be silky stable (as they have built in gimbals) & - it could fly!
Whilst it might not have super slow mo, your camera could at least be super fast! & fly up to 50km/h+ up to 10km away (always keep line of sight of your drone 🦍).

Very different cameras. The ZV 1 is point and shoot 1" sensor camera with a fixed lens and the A7C is a full frame with interchangeable lenses. I've had them both
@@peterat100 I personally don't like the RX1 R as a main camera. The new one coming is the ZV E1 (probably that name) next week. It'll be a mini A7Siii with no viewfinder. If it has good stabilization, it will be amazing

I’m just about ready to ditch canon for Sony. I’m now dealing with Canon R6 ii issues recording HDR PQ enabled, my editing program and playback hate it. Stuttering and in some cases not playing, yet plays fine on my iPhone 14 Pro Max 🤦🏻♂️
How big is the zoom on the iPhone 17 Pro Max? 20x optical. Are you from the future? You only have problems editing because you knuckle drag by using a Windows based PC. My little Mac Mini M1 blows away PCs 4x the price. I know because I have both. One is a work computer
@@smashingfables6307 I’m a PC guy. It’s just what it is. I use Adobe premiere and that’s the way it’s been. It comes down to my pc not having proper codec and MP4 being more compatible on Mac. I wrote 14 Pro Max and my phone auto corrected to 17 😂- maybe it knows something I don’t.

This was brought about by Apple's final 'security update' causing my dual G5 Power Mac to go from happily crunching dual video streams to stuttering its way through one, slower than my old G3 used to. Oops, I guess you have to buy a new Mac.. Apple swore up and down that they'd keep supporting that $5,000 PPC server box you just bought two years ago.. nope. Now I run Linux.
All y'all on x86 Macs got about another year left. Maybe. Then you'll see.

I don't know, as a fuji user for several years I got tired from the system too for several reasons
Maybe, in the end, no matter what's the camera, it's about what keeps us happy to go out and capture snapshots of life as we know it, and look back many years from now.
@@GunsNScoop for me, one of the most important factor why I got tired from fuji is the film sims that everyone so much in love with. At some point you realize that you can't disable them and get clean more genuine image for color correction, as you can on other systems, fuji sims stay always turned on. Also fuji sometimes gives very dirty orangy look, that I honestly don't like, but sometimes fuji images are stunning in terms of colors straight out of camera. This inconsistency annoying..
Also, I think they made a mistake be a photocentric system and not doing full frame cameras, full frame is a sweet spot for photography, crop is more suitable for compacts and video cameras.
@@pshelnh Full frame=yet another niche player competing with Canon and Sony and Nikon. They continue to make the right play by offering the most complete APS-C system out there, along with the most affordable and increasingly versatile medium format system that there is.

Yes, watching content on phones is really strange, I have big quality screens and amazing audio at home. Why do I need to watch stuff on my tiny phone screen and crappy audio.
As for why the point in pushing production values on youtube videos, it may be because it's not 2009 and almost no one can get away with filming content at potato quality for the lowest comen denominator.
If only most of UA-cam's compression didn't reduce content to potato quality for the lowest common denominator. It's 2023, why am I seeing so much banding and artifacts?!?!

Would Sony APSC with the extra crop offer any advantage over full frame for wildlife photography? I have Sony A6600 with Sony 70-350, and Sony A7IV with no telephoto lens yet. Should I sell A6600 to get Sony 200-600, or stick with APSC?
For videography you probably wouldn't notice the difference as much in good lighting, but for stills, it's far better to buy the 200-600 and ditch the A6600. If you want to save money, then you can get more reach and a little less weight by getting a bigger APSC zoom lens

Yes, colour science in the Canon RP is far superior to that of the R6/R8 and even the R5. The colours are more pleasing and skintone much more natural. Even the R is worse then the RP: watch your old footage.
The best Canon colours came with the EOS 5D and the 5D mkll, both fantastic for different reasons.
