Aw, I'm happy your channel has grown so much! I remember when I was researching Vanicream and found your review and it was a baby channel. Now I'm watching videos on micellar water whilst putting off lesson planning for this week xD
*also, “baby” as in just starting out!
Hey Zach! 🤗
Glad to hear that you are still around!
Yes, my channel has grown a bit😅
Thank you for stopping by!🥰
Happy Friday Melissa! Have a great weekend...thanks for sharing! Can you or will you ever do videos on Korean brand skin care products?
Happy Friday Jose! :)
I did already some videos on Korean Skincare products and I still have a few to do ( I will get more into this overtime).
However, are you thinking about specific brands?
Love your make-up and hair style here Melissa….🥰 stay safe always..

Hello! Lastly I’ve been obsessed with watching your videos and I wanted to ask if my routine was fine:
1. CeraVe Foaming cleanser normal to oily skin
2. The ordinary peeling solution AHA 30% + BHA 2% (once a week at night)
3. Caudalie vinopure purifying toner
4. Revox just niacinamide 10%
5. Caudalie vinopue moisturising mattifying fluid
6. (Only am) th pharma facial photoprotection spf 50+
Thank you! 🥰
Hey! :)
Thank you🥰
The order of application looks great! You may just want to skip your toner when using the Peeling Solution, the rest looks good :)
Love your hairdo and also your makeup……I have been using Cerave for a few years so now I use ordinary and cerave
Hey! :)
Thank you so much!🥰
Glad to hear that you enjoy CeraVe and The Ordinary products! :) They are great!
Aww you have such gorgeous skin Melissa! I use cerave SA smoothing cleanser. To help with little bumps on the skin. As I’m using Retinoid 2% at night, are these 2 products ok to use one after each other? So the Cerave SA cleanser followed by Granactive Retinoid 2% Emulsion (TO)?
In this video, I had gorgeous skin. But it's an up and down :) Especially if I have lots of stress.
And yes, that's okay :)
Thankyou so much
Your hair looks great! 🌸🌼🌸
I prefer to shake the bottle (of micellar water) to create bubbles and then push them out (by squeezing the bottle a little) to a sponge 🧽 Then I go everywhere on the skin (I usually just wear mascara and brow-shadow+gel in terms of makeup and spf of course and maybe a little setting powder).
But I find it necessary to double cleanse or at least wash away the micellar water with regular tap water so I don’t still have the residue.
I heard one person say it’s just fine to leave the micellar water on the skin, like, you’re good to go.
But that’s risking irritation and/or breakouts, isn’t it? I saw that you rinsed the micellar water off, and that’s what I’ve been taught to do as well. What do you think? Is it without risks to leave the micellar water on the skin?
Thank you for a very good video! 🙏
🌸💗🌸💗🌸
Hey! :)
Thank you!
I just got a new hair-straightener for my short hair and gel + spray😉
Yes, you can also use micellar water on a cloth or sponge. I used cotton pads as I think it’s quite common to use them when using micellar water.
Personally, I have to rinse off my micellar water, I don't like the residue. Doesn't matter from what brand I'm using the micellar water. However, it's fine to not rinse it off, just make sure that your SPF and makeup is properly removed.
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Thank you for your answer! Yes, your hair always looks great!
I love my sponges and my face cloths.
I have a minor handicap in my left hand so I find anything like sponges, brushes or face/skincare brushes very helpful.
Yeah, it’s the residue afterwards I’m thinking about. It’s not a very nice feeling. And I think it can cause both irritation and dryness as well as it can cause breakouts. It’s better to wash it off, just to be safe.
Have a splendid weekend! 💫
Hi, I love your videos🥰 my evening routine is exactly like this (but I use a different micellar water) and I was wondering if I can use bye bye blackhead 30 days miracle right after this routine or not? and what about the cream after this and after bye bye blackhead? ❤️
Hey! :)
Are you referring to this:
How to use Some By Mi Bye Bye Blackhead 30 Days Miracle Green Tea Tox Bubble Cleanser: ua-cam.com/video/EFaXAY0EBDI/v-deo.html
If so, yes. However, you may not be able to use that cleanser daily. Yes, it's fine to use a moisturiser afterwards :)
I absolutely HATE washing over the sink, but the issue is its hard to wash in the shower unless youre also washing your hair at the same time, and I'm a person who washes/wets my hair every other day.
Also: Do you ever reapply toner/micellar water halfway through swiping it over your face if you feel like the cotton pad has run out of product?
Yes, me too. I prefer washing my face in the shower, mainly in the evening. When I'm not washing my hair with shampoo, I just 'wash' it with water so I can still properly wash my face, especially when removing sunscreen and makeup.
Yes, I sometimes do this. I just change the side of the cotton pad or take a new one when I'm working with micellar water and if the cotton pad is already full with sunscreen or makeup.
So informative n exactly what i was looking for however just want to know if this method good for oily acne prone skin? Read somewhere that micellar water is bad for acne. Your take on this please? Ps. I want to do this to remove my waterproof sunscreen so is it okay? Can I do it especially if i never wear any makeup? Ps. Subscribed❤
Glad to hear that the video was helpful for you! 😊 Hmm, I have acne-prone skin, and I use micellar water mainly to remove my makeup (not so much sunscreen). I haven't experienced any problems; however, I still prefer to rinse off my micellar water, whether I use it on its own or do a double cleanse. I also use a microfiber/makeup removal washcloth, which works extremely well to take off sunscreen and/or makeup.
So, I would say, either use micellar water or a washcloth ;)
ive been hearing about double cleansing and I thought it was only w an oil cleanser and turns out I've been double cleansing w micellar water aahaha
- I use the garnier w rose water and then wash my face w the cerave hydrating cleanser in the shower works amazing
"Originally," I think, it was with an oil/balm cleanser, and it is usually done in Asian cultures, but double cleansing just refers to cleansing the face twice.
But honestly, I also like to use Micellar water to remove most of it and use my La Roche Posay cleanser in the shower to do the rest works amazingly, yes! But it seems to be not as popular really do not know why 🤷♀️
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial it should b way more popular bc it’s probably something a lot of people r doing just they don’t see it as double cleansing :3
@@jaleman6595 Yes, for sure. I guess it also has something to do with the name itself as it is called Micellar Water and not cleanser😉
Hi Melissa 😄
Thank you so much for your videos, question I always want to know what someone with your knowledge think about my issue. I started my day around 5:30 AM and by 4PM and ready to wash my face but is too early for my night skin care routine, what you recommend because I want to feel fresh and I don’t want to wait until 9 PM to wash my face
Please help 🙏🙏
Hey! :)
It's fine to wash your face earlier; that's what I meant with late afternoon or do it in the evening. Either one is fine. However, if you use Retinol, I recommend applying it just before going to bed as it is sensitive to sunlight.
Love your vids 💕are u doing any make up videos Anymore.
Thank you! :)
I haven't done makeup videos in a while, as of now, I'm not planning to. I'm currently keeping my focus on skincare and crypto! :)
Loving your videos! Wondering if you could pls give me your thoughts on my new routine for am & pm:
1️⃣micellar water
2️⃣ cerave foaming cleanser
3️⃣salicylic acid 2% - the ordinary
4️⃣alpha arbutin - the ordinary
5️⃣nicinamide - the ordinary
6️⃣hyaluronic acid - the ordinary
7️⃣moisturizer
8️⃣ spf - am only
Does this sound OK?
Only started a few days ago, have had some purging but not too much. No irritation or dry skin. Sometimes I get cystic acne. Would I be OK to add Benzoyl Peroxide 2.5% on certain spots using my current skin routine? Thank you so much!! Love your vids. So informative 🙏🏼💗
Hey! :)
Overall the routine looks good!
However, you may want to split the routine into an AM and PM routine.
Like so:
AM:
- Cleanser
- Salicylic Acid
- Niacinamide
- Alpha Arbutin
- (Optional) Moisturizer
- SPF
PM:
- Micellar Water
- Cleanser
- Benzoyl Peroxide
- Hyaluronic Acid
- (Optional) Moisturizer
What Salicylic Acid serum do you use?
Also, what's your skin type?
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial wow! Thank you for the reply. 🙏🏼 I have oily skin with breakouts about 1x a week 🙁 I get both cystic here and there and white heads. 😣
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial I have 2.
1️⃣ revolution - 2% salicylic acid & fruit enzymes
2️⃣ the ordinary - salicylic acid 2% solution (the just rereleased one)
Which should I use mostly? Thank you again!!!
@@nom8871 Either one of them is fine! See which one you prefer :)
Have you already started with the routine or are you about to start?
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial I started about 4 days with the routine I outlined above then I tried the routine you mentioned 2 mornings and one night already (I’m in Australia and see your responses when I wake up 🙃). I was using Alpha Arbutin as step #2 in my routine because I have some hyperpigmentation and am skin of colour. Since acne is #1 concern, the second is pigmentation. I’ll try out using the revolution salicylic, but I do love the ordinary’s products.
i’ve heard people say that cleansing balms are better for getting makeup off. but i don’t wear any makeup, only s tinted mineral sunscreen so do you think i should get a micellar water or cleansing balm?
Overall this depends on your personal preference and what type of makeup you may be wearing. There is no right or wrong.
When it comes to sunscreens;
Chemical sunscreens are easier to remove therefore, you can remove them with Micellar Water or an Oil/Balm cleanser. Whereas mineral ones (at least the ones I have tried so far) are a bit trickier to remove. So, you're probably going with an Oil/Balm cleanser as they are stronger.
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficialHoney what do I do my face still brings dirt even after cleaning with miscellaneous water, cleanser and when I use d water again it will still be dirty 😊
@@Evangelist_EstherEyituoyo You probably want to cleanse your face a bit better! :)
I find the Micellar water doesn’t help remove my broad spectrum 50 sunscreen. I have to redo a second time before using my face wash
Yes, some mineral sunscreens are just terrible. 😕 Therefore, I wouldn't say I like to use them as much. 😉
But which one do you use? 🤔
Newsubsriber lov ur content, iam at teenage 18 can i start use 2% salicylic acid serum,my skin is oily , and hyper pigmented , how long it will take to get my original skin tone back by using serum, or anyother option to achieve my older skin , acne free and even tone plz say mam
Hey! :)
Look into a 2% Salicylic Acid Cleanser or Serum or a 4%-5% Benzoyl Peroxide Cleanser. This can help to improve active acne.
As for your hyperpigmentation, look into Niacinamide, Vitamin C or Tranexamic Acid.
Also, don't forget to use sunscreen during the day.
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Oki mam some u tubers . Are confusing that teenagers that 17 yrs should not use serum, that's y iam confused,
@@foxyking35 Yeah, I am not sure why they are telling this 🤷🏼 But it's best to start taking care of your skin from early on and help to prevent the condition as long as possible because later on, it has done too much damage to the skin and is even more difficult to heal, improve or maintain. But of course, do not use products if you do not need them and constantly adjust them to your current skin condition and needs! :) Maybe that's what some of them meant.
I have trouble with my sensitive skin and these are the products I listed for my AM and PM routine. But I'm not sure if this good..
1. Cerave Micellar water
2. Cetaphil gentle cleanser(for all skin types)
3. The ordinary squalane skin cleanser
4. The ordinary unhydrous salicylic Acid 2%
5. Cetaphil Sunscreen SPf-50 (AM only!)

@@ZirahPastel i think you also need to incorporate a moisturizer in your routine. i recommend the Simple moisturizer since it’s perfect for sensitive combo skin.

AM:
- Cetaphil Cleanser
- SPF
PM:
- Micellar Water and/or The Ordinary Cleanser
- Salicylic Acid
- (Optional) Moisturizer
Do you experience dryness? If not, you do not necessarily need to use a moisturizer. What about stress, hormones or diet?

Hey! :)
Well, this depends on your Micellar Water. Some companies say that you can use their Micellar Water after cleansing and use it 'like a toner' (which isn’t wrong), whereas others say to use it to remove makeup, etc...so it's the first step.
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficial Thank you so much for replying ❤ I am using garnier micellar water with rosewater but from what i read i think i am supposed to use it as a first step in my skin care routine. Thank you again for replying ❤
One last doubt sister finaly shall I buy bha clensers for my hyperpigmentation will it cure in 3months, or I should buy a exfoliating sleeping bha mask plz say people around me are confusing me
It will not cure it, but it can help to improve it. But what kind of hyperpigmentation do you have? 🤔 Dark spots or sun-damaged skin or melasma?
@@MelissaVanDijkOfficiali have uneven skin tone that my elbow, chest are white but my face and hands are dark, it's from childhood
You may have more luck using an AHA exfoliant instead of BHA. Also, don't forget to protect it with sunscreen if you want to prevent it from tanning.
Is it ok to wash my face with only plain water after using micellar water and use cleanser after 1/2 hours of using micellar water ?
The issue with only patting product into the face is that you can not get the product around all the contours of your face as well as rubbing it around
So I think a combo of rubbing and patting would be better
Yes, true. But I also do not fully understand each treatment and how large the affected area is where it is absorbed. So with some spot treatments, the area around is heavily influenced by it. So that may also be another point to consider.
Still patting and rubbing, or as I now do, just rubbing/blending works well for me. In the beginning, I always had issues with layering The Ordinary serums, but that was because I used too much or did not remove the water drops from the skin surface, which becomes a mess with some of their serums ;)
