FAIL! CHEAPEST Wiring Harness On AMAZON - DON'T Buy This Junk!

- It's everyone's favorite automotive task.... WIRING!
We have done alot to out 1957 Chevy Bel Air. The car is basically ready to hit the road (if the snow ever melts). One of the most overlooked system on any old car is the wiring. Years of other people cutting, adding and splicing into the harness is never a good thing. I've seen to many nice old cars end up in flames due to poor wiring.
Typically I buy cheap knock off wiring harnesses off Amazon. They are lower quality but I have good luck in the past. This time, my luck ran out. This 12 circuit harness had miss labeled wires though out the whole mess of wires. Left was right and right was left. It was extremely frustrating!
Best of luck to ya if you decide to go with a cheap, know off harness on your hotrod.

I got lucky with my Painless Performance kit for my bus. I reached out to them and asked for the $800 kit and I would do an install video and they agreed. They sent me shirts and banners and all but never asked anything from me other than showing me install it. Score!
Oh u saved I bus right I think I recalled ur name
@@shawnl5634 yes!
I've made a few wiring harnesses in my life it sure is nice you can buy them these days. First one I did was my first car a 53 ford custom flathead V8 from 6 volt to 12 volt conversion at 13yrs old, I just took everything from a 68 ford and made it work with a Chilton’s manual help. Grill was a great touch and find.
Electrical is by far my favourite either on a boat , car or truck . It’s fun to map / lay everything out and when you see each part come to life when you roll the ignition what a pay off !!! . Cheers
I’ve built a few cars and never bought a wiring harness. I enjoy making my own but I think it would look a lot better if I used some kind of kit.
I love the car and I love your work DAN but that interior is clown pants. eyeball vandalism .
ha ha keep up the nice work though. It’s coming along great .
What could be better than watching DD's speed shop? Not Much! 😂 love your humor.
Watch PUDDINS FAB SHOP FOR HUMOR
Calling a simple garage, "DD speed shop" is the funny part. 🤣🤣🤣
Lookin cool ain’t cheap, and lookin cheap ain’t cool!!!!!!😂🤣😂👍
Thank you for the wiring tutorial!!! It's still looks a little intimidating, but very doable!
Love shows but the rich Americans little bit much news flash not all us own 6 7 8 running hot rods so it doesn't fit all to a rich Canadian
Nice job Dan. Wiring sucks. Not yours, wiring in general.
The name "A Team" should have been your first clue. If you ever watched the TV show you know that the A Team was a bunch of hacks that fixed their junk with duct tape, paper clips, and bailing wire.
Hey Dan enjoyed the wiring video learned a lot thanks for taking time keep hot rodding
I have a 1985 cadillac fleetwood brougham. I just had a wiring harness for under the hood for $879. Darnit it's expensive! Love your show brother! Athens Georgia. Hey y'all!
Should pour glitter down the defrost, it could cure her of that glitter problem.
Wiring can be the most monotonous chore of the entire job but.... Gotta keep those dogs safe lol
Love the whole car, the grill was a kicker🎉, & the license plate is top notch happy for you Dani also great work on the wiring Dan!
Car looks great Dan, I honestly think the interior, though colorful, is really really cool, prolly nobody has one like it! Surf's up!
Hey Dan👋, car coming a long good . Wiring is not that bad , if you have the patience for it. But keep up the great videos and have a great day 👋
Dan on a serious note, you could cute the rod out at the box take 3 in. Out and add a knuckle on the steering column. Because we know there a pain in the ass and not just that but in wrecks they go straight through the driver. They even had a name for them was the impeller column. Love the grill and them tires you got are for racing they are soft so when sitting I keep them on stands or move it a lot because they flat spot easy . Then they ride funny and they burn up quick. Headlights are a great touch. On video the passenger side door sticks out to straight could we paint the bottom of that fender just because it would look better in videos
Timmy, like in this video @0:57. Those non- collapsible steering columns are deadly. ua-cam.com/video/fPF4fBGNK0U/v-deo.html
I used the cheap 21 circuit harness on my square body and it was pretty dang simple to install. My advice is go through every wire and separate and label them in groups like "tail lights" , "under hood" "under dash" and "headlights"
Yepp mine was already separated
Come for the car projects, stay for the humor. Your sarcastic wording and comments are comedic gold.
What is It with you people the other side of the pond with burning rubber £420 on tyres just to leave most of it on one spot on the road 😂
Because it's fun and we still can.😊
Ya it's a good idea to leave enough extra length on the wires for easy repairs and maintenance and for the inevitable mistakes. 😊
Dan only you can make a tedious job like wiring actually entertaining. Pointing out the flaws in the cheap harness hopefully chased away many bargain basement shoppers. Dani seems quite excited about getting her ride on the road for the nice weather coming soon.
I would have put led bulbs in the dash while it was out
you got ripped off, GSKMOTOR Universal 20 Circuit is only $100 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just ordered a 22 circuit from kwik wire
480 shipped to my door
Don’t tell my boss but I love the satisfaction of re wiring old and broken circuits. Great vid Dan. After watching this I think I would just grab a fuse block and a spool of 2,3,4 wire. Scrapyard relays and fuses baby. Lol
I won't tell Mike if you finish wiring my car!😆
Doug here, DD Speed Shop fan.............Dan, what's your all time top 3 favorite Mopars?
I’ll never ever ever EVER install another Amazon aka Deep China harness. After hours of WTH!? I found out that all unlabeled black wires were NOT in fact grounds. That was just one of the issues too.
Not want to hurt anyone's feelings but it should be one person working on the car LIKE EVERYONE ELSE the second person works camera a d never shows themselv or talks JUST SAYIN !!¡!¡!!
Hey, I found these 30amp fused relays with on Amazon with 14ga harness, and they cost $13.49 for 5 of them!
Nilight 50023R 5 Pack 30A Fuse Relay car Truck Socket kit-30A Switch Harness Set-12V DC 4-Pin SPST Automotive 14 AWG Hot Wires-Auto Switches & Starters Set, 2 Years Warranty.
dani needs a stereo
I'm sick in the head I love wiring I find it therapeutic lol
DD SPEED SHOP
I might be crazy, but you’ve referenced Model A’s in the last 3 vids!!! You got something cooking??? I have a 30 Coupe and think a DD Speedshopification of one would be bad ass.
The did the 100 dollar ebay harness for the 64 c10 on my channel and somehow got lucky with it being perfect. I feel Iike you gotta just go cheap as possible
SRC put a later model chevelle 3 spoke wheel in their grandfathers 55. Actually he did back in the 70s. Looks gooder. Where is the front bumper dude.
I'm doing the same exact thing right now to my 55! I went with American Autowire. It was a little pricier but in my option well worth it! Keep the videos coming.....enjoy watching you guys!
Great video. Wiring 101
Im going to need to use something like that as I have a new 2019 LT and digital dash that runs off the OBDII so half of the "factory" harness in 55 kits would be trimmed out anyway.
Off topic; taking glances at the carpet (heal pad), I'm now wondering if you got the wrong carpet and/or it was manufactured wrong?
Either way, I guess you're stuck with the heal pad being useless.
Looks like someone(s) at the factory wasn't paying attention on what wires get what markings? ;-)
It’s about being able to identify a circuit and isolating a circuit (knowing everything in that circuit without accidentally moving into a different circuit) once someone is able to do that, it’s easy to look past the clutter of all that rainbow spaghetti. Then you do your hookups one circuit at a time. Before you know it you’ve attached all the wires and shit works!
That is why I went with American Autowire harness for my Mustang. Having never tackled wiring a car before, installing the AAW harness was fairly easy.
Dan ,jay Leno garage, had a 1975 bricklin sv-1 owned by Jeff Dunham, made in Canada,u may wanna check it out
A Team has been junk for me. I've never had good luck. I got my harness from EZ wiring probably the same supplier but I had good luck with them and so have all my friends
Everything is going up in price, you know, just because. Except for people's wages.
I will NOT use any kit. They all blow chunks. I custom wire my my car with all toggle switches n a push button start. Power comes off battery into relay blocks. My headlites are split circuits for low n hi beams. Dist fuel pump choke on its own circuit. I can't use those kits. I helped a friend with a kit never again. My 1 wire all charges the batt only. All power comes from batt
I always put the instrument cluster on a plug. Makes it much easier to work on.
Sorry Queen D, but that interior makes my head hurt!
Yep,wiring ain’t fun but of course needed.
what would finish that interior off would be a white material like the doors for the head liner to match the white roof of the car
Definitely getting a thumbs up but as far as electrical goes I don’t mind electrical I have an issue with seeing this crap not my favorite thing wonder why BlindGuysGarage well glade to see it almost done for now
Hey Dan you really should do voice over and just do the work and explain as you go along. it would make your videos shorter. I watch a lot of videos and the old man's garage, [SRC] is one of my favorites. Other than that your videos are quite entertaining and are more like real world average guy stuff!!
The butt connectors with the heat shrink work really good, I've used them on my semi truck, and the worst place for exposure to the elements is the taillights on the back of the frame, they have no protection at all, and I've had those connectors on there for 500,000 miles with no sign of corrosion. They work.
TEAM DANI! Her name IS NOT Danielle! Come on…..get it right! 😡. Lmoa😂
Sorry Dan could you clarify the "love of my life" comment? I think I missed something 🤭🤭
FYI , I always use REBEL wiring kits. awesome quality, great price!
Hey Dan
Good video, great car.
Take care of Yourselves
Edit; Happy for you Dannie 🙂
Just Wondering, are Radiator Caps in Short Supply in Canada ?? LOL
This kit is similar to the speedway motors 12 circuit harness. I just installed it on a t bucket hot rod and it was fairly simple. I left the unused wiring tucked up behind the dash to future proof the car. The one you describe, seems a little different than the speedway motors harness. It seems fairly good though, by looking at your video.
That interior is as loud as the exhaust will be 😂
But I ain't no hater! If that's what the Queen D wants, that's her thing and it's cool.
After spending more time than I would like to admit wiring my last car with a no name brand harness spent the big bucks on the American Autowire this time round. Expensive but more than worth it. Done in a day. Love Danni’s car but disappointed in the tyre destruction….
Wiring can be done in a day ? Yeah like really , more like a week . The blinker/brake light circuit is a Joke . Great wiring job , just a few extra feet of wires . The 23 circuit kits are a frigging Nightmare , but you do get plenty of extra wire that you can wire your trailer or another car . You get what you pay for ? Great video .
Those of you on team Danielle...thanks alot...I know who you are...bwahhhh 😅😂
Hi Dan, years ago I built a '56 chevy Belair, and customer bought a Mexican built wiring harness. It was a nightmare, customer wanted me to use it so he had to pay me for he's of work. I spread new harness out on my shop floor, there were scores of mistakes. I had to use an ohm meter to check every wire, for instance they had the signal lights and the gas gauge wired together, plus the colors were a disaster. I got it sorted and installed. Customer commented he could have bought a painless wire harness for what he had in the one he brought me. No shit I said. I tried to tell you that . I always used painless wiring setup never any problems plus they have great customer service. Great hotrod products. I highly recommend them. Today I'm sure there are many more options available, but in the early 80s painless was the best. Good luck you'll get it done!!
Great job, showing the average person can make an attempt at wiring your own ride. In addition, love the channel because you don't have the fancy shop and keep it fairly basic. Just an extension of Uncle Tony's showing how to have fun at a minimum cost.
The channel Chad's fab does a lot of wiring videos for Matt's off road recovery and Fab rats.👍
Kind of a pian buying a good collection of connectors esp water tight. It gets expensive especially if you want to make sure everything plugs in. I hate having to cut wires, even my gauges are all routed through a connector.
Try rebel wiring out of Tennessee… American made with proper automotive wires. Mid level price
*team glitter here, YOURE WELCOME. 😂👊🏻
This will help me with my 69 Impala
You shuda tried to trigger some people and do a spoof scene of you just twisting wires together and poorly wrapping it in some blue painters tape saying ahhh I'm no fancy ladd this doesn't look the greatest but is more than sufficient, connectors and or soldering is pointless it's no better it's just to looks fancy. A real gear head does it like this, besides that it makes it waaaay easier to change wiring around, you just yank it and bam it's apart... Lol
if I was gonna rewire my '64 el camino I would just buy a premade loom from OPGI
My neighbor has a 50 Oldsmobile chop top cruiser, calls me up and says he needs a hand on his car. I get over to see what he has going, long story short he decided to rewire the car with a new harness. I start looking at what he bought, he tells me it was a generic cheapest no name harness kit he could find, bonus round (not!!!)
I never use an expensive wire harness kit. I do it from scratch one circuit at a time. I find it easier that way.
Hey Dan, so the wires you didn't need that you snipped off, where exactly did you snipped them off at and is it safe to say just snipped away? Hey that rhymes, no electric tape at the ends Yada Yada Yada lmk eh
I Hate doing wiring! Great content Dan.🤯🤯
Blue white and pink Chevy Bellaire hot rod...🤔😳👍🎉
Next time you do a tri 5,pay up and get American Autowires Classic update harness. It isnt cheap but its leaps and bounds above. You wont be sorry.
Temps here in ND are below freezing for highs too 🥶
I used American Auto wiring on my 56 it worked perfectly
Yikes hope the 21 circuit I bought of Amazon is better than yours. 😮
I'm planning on getting a painless universal harness to out in my Duster. Guess I'm going to splice the connectors from the original harness or try to find the pins for a 70's mopar harness.
This car cries out for 'HELLO KITTY!' seat covers!
Great video....rich Americans lol, hey I'm a non rich American
Putting a new harness in is enough fun, without adding mislabeled wires into the mix..Maybe you need to pay a little more for the next one!🤣
Yes I am on team Danielle! You have 3 SHE HAS ONE 🤷🏻♂️
Dan, next do a Speedway universal wiring kit, inexpensive and good kits!!
Hi my husband bought a wiring harness from Amazon and it was a total flop but even worse Amazon will not stand behind it nor give me any seller contact info
You get what you pay for is all I have to say wiring is something I don't skimp on in my shop I don't want my clients cars burning to the ground
The extra 100$ on the grill is the covid tax. Just like everything else going up
I feel your pain. $200 for a grill, when the car was about $2300 new.
How come your heel pad on driver side carpet is in the middle of the foot well? Say it ain't so., rubber tape?
I bought one of those for my 63 C10, haven't installed it yet
Looks great Dan. Coming along really nicely. She’s going to be so happy to drive it. 👍😎✌️
Lol I wouldnt say I'm all the way on team Danielle, but it is her car. So with that, youre welcome buddy
I know nothing about wiring so I do like watching the videos about wiring in the hopes I might learn something! 😅 Thanks for sharing! 😊👍
You know…I think it Dani when with all pink door panels it would look okay. I think the blue and pink is too many colors. Just a thought.
Cheap makes a good teaching video try making a pin out and trace board on plywood with the original harness if you have enough of one with it all labeled out with a general routing and measurements marked and you could make a copy of the original pretty quickly and have the same routing as the factory harness and can use the other side of the board for a deluxe harness or a different year or a super basic harness then the cheap harnesseses arent so bad to work with or get loomed up and taped to look way cleaner installed lots of folks got more time than money when it comes to fixing up old cars or building one from a basket case
I posted the opposite video today. I stripped down a wiring harness to the bare bones to make a race truck run.
Careful, Glitter might become your nick name.
I think it would look better with the black steelies and dog dish rims off the Red Ragtop but thats just me.
