Thibs is just a limited coach: incapable of being creative and too rigid to adjust to maximize your players skill sets. Thibs is the kinda coach who helps reset a franchise but then you swap him out for a more modern coach to take over. The offense can’t be a snail’s pace with a lot of ISO ball in this era anymore. Honestly I don’t even think he’s good at developing players, I think we let talented players walk and any development that’s happened with people we kept was from them working on their own. As long as he’s coaching the Knicks with randle as the number 1 option it’ll be the exact same as the raptors before kawhi in that yeah we’ll consistently make the playoffs but will get bounced by the second round at best. Knicks now in that purgatory of not good enough to compete but also too good to make any necessary shakeups to get over the hump

The team will be fine imo. But I am concerned with the guard jam. Honestly, if the shooting doesnt pan out as expected...we need to play fournier. We have streaky shooters and not enough consistent shooters.

I liked seeing the flashes of the young guys. I was very impressed with Mcbride seems like he's been working on his midrange and being able to create for himself off the dribble. I liked how RJ and Grimes both stood out and had their games... HOWEVER like you mentioned I worry about how this team will mesh with lineups, and if Thibs will open up the rotation. I feel like last years 9 man doesn't work with this roster. There is too much talent not to play these guys which makes me hopeful for a big trade either by the deadline or in the next off season. But I'm excited for this team it really feels like they are headed in the right direction.
Randle had glimpses. It’s like when he scores at times, it still looks sloppy. His passes usually come out of the result of him not having a basket to go get, instead of rhythm passes. We have to stop looking at numbers and really look inside his game. Yes, he does amazing things at times and makes crazy 1 legged shots, but cmon man. He needs to clean up his game. I shouldn’t be seeing loose dribbling because eventually those turn into many turnovers especially in the playoffs. He’s like in his 8th year and i don’t see the cleanliness, crafty part of his game with a high level iq. To me, randle is just the guy thats great at numbers and can help a lottery team. Not a team trying to contend for a chip UNLESS HE CLEANS UP HIS GAME AND DRIBBLING. Pass the ball in rhythm and not just when you dont have a shot. I literally saw him drive to basket, double teamed and still shot a brick instead of passing out to the open man on the wing. When are we going to learn? There’s a reason people like playing with a jokic type. Find the open man IN RHYTHM
N.Y. problems stem from coach not really really communicating with players then he has his favorites - smh.
I said it before and I’ll say it again. The Knicks defense is going to take a step back this season. We can sign all the 3nD players we want, that is not gonna change the fact the Knicks roster is undersized and has a PF that doesn’t defend the interior nor the perimeter. There’s a reason Mike Muscala and Naz Ried balled out.

I never thought Thibs was the coach for Knicks. All his teams plateau & reach a ceiling they cant get past. He grinds his players down too.

I haven’t watched much preseason but I assume these small lineups ain’t working, idk I feel like thibs isn’t a good enough coach to figure this type of thing out hope I’m wrong. But regardless I think overall we should be fine.

Knicks are going to be fouling A LOT this season. They also might benefit from getting fouled a lot, so lets hope they work on their free throws. And other players (aside from Mitchell Robinson) are going to have to step up on the offensive boards. Who that is, I don't know. But, there's no doubt in my mind that the Knicks are going to be in a half court situation more than they'd like to be. They're just going to have to play with a lot of pressure, a lot of grind, and guts! I wish them all the best. F**k all the haters. Lets GO KNICKS!!!

Don’t really understand Knick commentators, when we had Obi everyone begged Thibs to play more small ball and now that we are playing small ball it’s a negative. And in reality we are only going to be small when Julius is out … which is for about 5 seconds a game not 1/2 a game like in preseason
