Great info as a review Michelle! I thoroughly enjoyed all the classes you brought to Calgary over the years.

Thank you so much! I miss the live teaching! Who knows maybe someday I can figure it out again!

I have had quite a few of my markers dry out. They were properly filled with ink. I make sure I click the lids in place and keep them cleaned routinely. I am clumsy and have dropped some markers on the floor. But I am not sure those are the ones that dried out. I have seen people say it could be a hairline fracture in the marker. How can I determine if this is the case? I have not noticed any obvious cracks. I am just wondering if I have missed some detective thing. 🙂
Also, could you do a video on the airbrush system? I think I would like to give it a try. I do not make cards. I only use my Copics for coloring. So doing backgrounds with the airbrush system sounds great to me. But I don’t have a clue what could be used to mask an image. And how hard is it to use?

yes on the airbrush, I did a couple a while back but a review would be great so I will add it to the list. The drying out...if the lids are on tightly dropping them should not make a difference. The cracks that have been discovered are often in the interior of the lid. The easiest way to see them is often while cleaning them out sometimes you can see the crack and sometimes a little ink will actually get caught in the crack making it easier to see.
BUT if you have refilled them and they are drying out just sitting there you have a leak one way or another, a small crack, lids not fitting correctly. Hope this helps!

@@CopicintheCraftRoom Thank you! I’ll be sure to look closer inside the lids if it happens again. But I hope it doesn’t.

I too have markers that I don’t use often and they are dry, makes me sad because they are an investment. I’m glad to know what to look for, and will need to replace a few of my sketch markers because I keep filling them up, don’t use them and they are dry next time I want to use them. Thank you Michelle for sharing your knowledge.

Which is better, pulling the lid straight off or twisting it slightly to remove. Does this cause the hairline fracture over time? I have the sketch, and several of mine are coming up on my second decade of owning. I often find the lid tight and hard to remove. I took a class from you in Des Moines.

Pulling off but a slight twist should not case cracks. Are your caps clean on the inside Debbie? Mine definitely get sticky if I have old ink in there on the plastic.

I was doing marker maintenance today. Have about a fourth of them done. Yes clean the caps and barrel. And refill. Thank you for your answer, I appreciate it. Mine definitely have some that get sticky, but some is my arthritis it’s hard to just pop that lid off. Again thank you so much.
