Benefits of working for a big business is you get lower cost healthcare for you and your family. Most companies will also offer a partial or full 401k match which is tax deductible. Barbers make a decent living if your shop has traffic. If you’re a great barber there will always be clients waiting. For anyone saying that a barber won’t be able to retire is making a false claim.
I’m approaching 40 and have always had an interest in barbering, especially when COVID hit and all our big companies were struggling. I’ve been fortunate to have had a decent career since I was 21 years old, but I am completely burned out in this field. Making a career change at this age is pretty scary for me, especially when retirement is not that far off :-/
@peupeuguy310 Your not too old to try it. I did it for 24 years, starting at 32. I just retired after my arm and shoulder gave out. I cut a LOT of hair!
