After watching this podcast I recently went to Cuttack, Odisha from Delhi for some work and tried this, it was good but the masala chhach served after dahi bada was amazing, so amazing.
I went to cuttack for national games , dav school was empited for all the players from india to stay ,my foot got injured 2 days before my performance, but in medical camp dav kids took care of me so well, next day they came to room to put medicine on my foot . 3rd day I win national games 2 gold medals . But such a lovely memory of that place ..food & people are just awesome there...
Yes...had it recently and totally blown away by the burst of flavours..best part was the chach that was given at the end ...tried cooking at home but failed .wish we could have this in delhi too
During my 4 years in Bhubaneswar this was my favourite breakfast and will still be in the list of my favourite foods.... Whenever I revisit Odisha I'm surely gonna taste it again 😌

No West Bengal doesn't suppress Odisha cuisine... Both are somewhat similar, but both are very different. But one thing is there, Odisha people after becoming famous after some days,they degrade the quality. That is why Kolkata food tastes better, it's sad but true.

I am sorry for writting wrong comment on something that I never tasted or not even know much about it. And I respect our culture weather it's odia or gujrati . And every Indian should promote it without any hesitation. I don't know very much about odisha and it's cultural values , food or other things. But I will try to explore 🙏
Go for Cuttack one. And even if you dont like something don’t go around in social media talking shit about it. Finally odia cuisine is getting recognition and there are people like you.

Yup , I tried that dish first time in a stall, it was outside of Gupt Vrindavan, and ended up eating 2 plates, can't forgot that taste. In every stall I saw that dish I ate it, but the best one was that stall. I miss it man.
Dahi bada aloo dum actually has a complex flavour n texture.. you'll only know when you try it. Baripada's 'mudhi mangsho' is another one of the countless gems from Odisha..
I also loved this dis... I ate it in puri i went to puri several tyms n i just ate 2 plates of dahi bade dum aloo n my tummy was full for whole day n last he gives the khatta chaas with chilly oh my God what flavour.. N its a road side dish... Wowww A must try dish Sasta n soooo delicious... I could eat it several tyms... I loved it that much I am from u.p. bt lived in odisha for about 6 years...
This combination comes from Odisha being closely situated with WestBengal and some part of south! So they basically have mixed food culture,some Bengali touch with some south cuisine. I am a Bengali and every time I go to Odisha I feel the same.
