What I like about the big bosses in GU, both Nakarkos and Ahtal-Ka, is that they're not just "big, bad monsters" but also extremely intelligent, true to their insect and squid nature. They have got to be one of the most creative monsters ever, without being too unrealistic that they don't fit within the ecology of the Monster Hunter world (which got us worried at first when we first thought Narkakos is a straight up two-headed dragon which would be too "fantasy" for Monster Hunter). Too bad that GU is a celebratory title without a proper story leading up to these bosses, even though their settings are super interesting and would legit make for a really good storyline! I mean Narkakos is said to be so gluttonous that it can literally devoured ecosystems, turning them into bony wastelands. It preys on just about anything, even the badass monsters like Glavenus and Brachydios, all mere snacks to this thing. I would have loved to see a full on story where you're tasked to check on what's been wiping out ecosystems one after another which then leads to the confrontation with Narkakos. Same for Ahtal-Ka, too, as she's also a disaster on a similar level, but maybe even worse as she aims for human settlements specifically to expand her territory and her giant mech. Anyway, I love to fight Narkakos with the Prowlers. I always saved up the Rath-of-Meow tank to use when it fires the giant laser beam, then I just drove the tank right through the laser! XD
Nakarkos tips! Pay attention for the next time you fight it! > Ballista shots have an arc to them, so make sure to aim up to adjust for their drop over distances > Sonic Bombs will destroy the alternate Monster part on a tentacle and make it normal again, though not while the tentacles are in the middle of an attack and not when they're in their normal state > Time the Sonic Bombs to hit both tentacles when he's twirling them together above his head and he'll hit himself and be stunned > Damaging both tentacles enough will briefly stun it and dispel the blue ink, allowing you to hit the face enough to stun it more to go to the back of its shell where its rainbow weakpoint is > When it's firing its massive Dragon laser, throw Tranq Bombs into its mouth to stop it > It takes 1 more Tranq Bomb each time to stop the beam from firing (1->2->3, you get the idea)
@@Uno_Hunter Yeah, Dragon Element is Nakarkos's biggest weakness. With these other tips in mind and if you keep up with your equipment grind, G-Rank Nakarkos should theoretically be simple enough. I say theoretically since I myself haven't attempted it yet. Too busy getting my ass kicked by G-Rank Silver Rathalos. His wife is a lot simpler for me at the moment.
The Nakarkos fight had me absolutely FLOORED. If they make Nakarkos, or any other old ED show up, I'm fucking busting nuts, legumes, raisins, chex mix, all the trail mix snacks my guy.
I've been taking my time before getting into G rank for GU, Right now I'm just grinding deviants and making sure that I don't getting absolutely slaughtered by the more difficult G rank monsters because all the quests are balanced for 4 players, so going in solo has worrying me.
its not balanced for 4 players, the old games are balanced around 2 players, you can find the datamines, and some more info on a test CantaPerMe did. Basically its much more managable than people make it out to be.
@17:25 - "Speed Gather" WAS a skill in MH3 and 4, but it got removed in Generations, in part due to the continuous gathering when you hold the button (making it a step faster than previous games). My first time against HR7 Nakarkos was on the 3DS and I tried doing it with my Prowler ... lasted 49min before a final cart but if I played just a little better I might have HAD him. (I tried again with my hunter, a Dragon weapon, and won in about 35min).
While I think the repel phase quest brings the Nakarkos experience just a teensy bit down, this is among the coolest unique looking elder dragons, specially with that Dragon laser show
Now that you have gotten to this fight there will be a certain phase in which you can use those trunks as a last ditch effort to like stop him from doing his deadly One-Shot power move. I can't wait to see you go through g rank everyone else has been saying the same thing but that last elder just makes everyone smile. Also bloodbath but you know that's for another reason
Binge your video, really love your first meeting video its fun and give me courage to fight many boss solo (still get kicked in the ass tho) hope many will find your channel My first fight with nakarkos went weird because im using aerial gs and i had trouble hitting the tentacle so i go straight to its body lmao Also dont apologize for a long video, thats the best form imo
From your Intro, I see you didn't noticed my Tipps. Well, If you have to repeat the Fight, break a Tentacle, and then go for the Head, to KO him. 8:40 Like all of us, he instantly runs toward the wrong Side. Theres a Rainbowcolored Thing on his Side, your suppose to hit. Its behind the biggest Spike. Looks like the Thingy on his Head. 18:20 theres Ballistaammo and a Binder in the Box btw. If you know what to hit, you can finish that Hunt in 25 Minutes no Problem. 30:04 you have to aim higher. If your fare away, the Ammo ends up hitting the Ground. You know if you hit, by seeing a Shakeing Effect. 44:30 I had some Problems killing him whit Bow, and so I notices, if hes near Dead, he allways spams the double, and then does the exact same Combination of Moves after that. 48:16 great Work, Congratulation.
48:00 i was getting ready to end up writing here offering a HBG kill for you so you wouldnt have to go through the tedious solo again but looks like i wont need to do that haha also, just a bit of a warning, if you dont bring stuff to craft them do not use max potions to heal midbattle--save those for possible carts. if you dont do this on G rank youll end up being one shotted from vanilla health, not recommended. crafting ancient potions works too but might be space hefty since youll need several book of combos for the best results. note i dont die often unless its boltreaver astalos or some other deviants but i always save my max potions for potential accidents, its better to be safe in this case
Hey Uno! I love your content. Just wanted to know if you have a discord or something where it would be possible to play with you for some chill hunts maybe in mhwi?
Hes not to bad, if you understand him, you can cut the Time in Halve. Just break one Tentacle, and you get rid of the blue Mist. Also his Armor was weak to Dragon.
@@Sunaki1000 thanks for the information but i don't think i'll ever be able to fight him since i can't afford a switch or play it on a 3ds, i can't play it on a 3ds emulator either cause of how bad my pc is, though i'd like to try to fight him someday.
I just died to this guy twice ... both more than half an hour into it ... FFS. Ive been doing longsword but just take random OHKO's. Also aerial GS cause apparently that's supposed to be OP. Still dont seem to be doing much, only got like one stun off. Guess its back to the drawing board.

I went back after getting a Deviljho weapon and it took me around 28 minutes my second go around.

My favorite monster. Cuttlefish, kraken, hydra, necromancer, puppet master, that eats entire ecosystems out of existence because he loves food.

It's always painful watching blademasters skim over ballista ammo and binders because they assume it's just more bowgun ammo lol
nice... I didn't know that we can climb up to it... I just killed it when I did this quest but man took you awhile

you should probably take the free ballista shots from the box more, takes less time then picking them up
