- This video shows all three deaths of Kratos in the God of War series. Kratos died three times, Ares (the former God of War) killed Kratos in the Temple of Pandora for the first time, then Kratos was betrayed and killed by Zeus in Rhodes, and finally, after Kratos killed all the gods, he sacrificed himself.

Can we just pause for a second. Homeboy threw a pillar from across the globe and somehow managed to miss mountains, trees, etc. not only that, but it hit Kratos perfectly. Not only that, but Kratos took the hit and still lived temporarily.
Simple. He is a God of War. He can use telekinesis. Thats why he can use weapon even without touching or kill the barbarians with no hands at all

In 2007 God of War 2, Zeus says: “You will never be the ruler of Olympus. The cycle ends here.”
In 2018 God of War, Kratos says: “The cycle ends here, we must be better than this.”

Both tried fruitlessly to end their own respective cycles, both ended up only becoming another turn in the wheels of fate.
@@horseaphoenix1016 This is not the case for Kratos. Zeus said "The Cycle ends here" for his own benefit and rule. Kratos says it not for his own gain, rather the opposite, he does it so that another god does not go on the path of ruthless vengeance against all that oppose him.

No matter the intent, like a Greek tragedy, they are all pawns in the hands of fate. And I would argue that Kratos did do it for his own benefit, he did it to save Atreus seeing essentially the same thing as what he did in Greece. If Atreus wasn’t there Kratos wouldn’t have even bother to interfere imo.
It's almost amazing how good Zeus looks at 7:27. The games are fantastic, few others can age so gracefully

He didn't want that. He wanted you to remove the memories/torment that came from his sins.
"I sheltered you from the wrath of Olympus."
He got killed by Zeus. You didn't really help with the Fates or convince them to make it right. In fact, you helped build this path by not allowing the man to finally end his torment, repeatedly stopping himself from committing suicide. There would've been no need for wrath from Olympus.
"I delivered your revenge on Zeus."
You actively delayed it and made certain more would perish by defending Zeus. Moreover, the need to have revenge would not have existed had you been up front and honest with your intentions. You locked in the cycle of father vs son.
Like I'm going super simple, there's a lot more details then that, but that line has always pissed me off. Like this is why Olympus needed to go.
If Zeus and Athena had any decency as gods, they would've guided Kratos through his journey to free himself from Ares (Ascension), helped him in his quest to defeat the god of war (GoW1) and then just let him die and reunite with his family on Elysium.
Although Athena changed her allegiances after being infected by Greed and Zeus became an even worse dictator when infected by Fear, they were already poor gods to begin with. Like Mimir said, the Pantheon had it coming.
I really hate her in God of war.

Tbf, I have always seen that Athena already planned it all along, only to spectacularly fail thanks to Kratos.
- She might have known the Marked Warrior was Kratos all along, not Deimos, which was why she prevented Ares from killing Kratos when Ares took Deimos.
- When Kratos made his mistake, leading him to swear allegiance to Ares, then breaking the oath, and killing the Sisters of Furies, Athena was the one who approached Kratos, not the other Olympians, not Zeus, not Poseidon, which was as if she already knew Kratos would survive and try to get his revenge on Ares.
- She warned Kratos not to rescue Calisto and Deimos, but made no effort whatsoever to prevent it, which was as if to make Kratos' hatred on the Olympians grow.
- Athena was a goddess of Wisdom. It is highly likely she had already predicted all of these events after she herself hid the power of Hope, and the outcome of the battle between Kratos and the entirety of Olympus. But she didn't foresee that Kratos would release the power to human instead of giving it back to her.
Great explanation dude... I'm 100% sure that athena is the real villain on the Greek Mythology story 😂

Kratos still has hades' soul so he's immortal and he only released hope back to the world, he must have absorbed his god of war abilities back from the sword. That's why the sword had no power at the end.
And that's why God of war 4 exist

@@denarus3939 Actually, if you really see the scene, the soul of hades enters Kratos as it is needed in order to pass through the hyperion gate and swim the river styx. Its similar to what Hades did when he pulled Atlas soul from his body and absorbed it into his own.

The first game had the perfect story start to finish. It will always be the best in my oppinion. 2 and 3 were cool and badass, the music the voice acting was all on point. The new god of war is very intriguing and has great world building. But yeah first one set up the story that carries entire series. Truly a masterpiece

@Nelson Toizam in the original god of war 1, he was not dragged to hades, he was falling from the sky into the underworld. God of war 2, is where he was being dragged down.
But when Kratos was killed in the temple of Pandora’s box, his body was impaled by the stone and was trapped there. So how did his body end up in the underworld is his question?

Thats why Kratos always escapes hell as if he is still alive.

Something tells me Athena isn't truly dead. She's like a Wraithful spirit. I imagine her being an antagonist in a future game, with her possessing enemies to fight Kratos and he has to use hades claws to absorb her soul and end her wrath once and for all.

Kind of a common trope in greek myth. Not as much in Norse myth. It happens but not as frequently or nearly as easily and basically only by gods

Instead it was greed because when she foresaw that Kratos is the one to end the pantheon she tried everything to help him after her sacrifice because it was an opportunity for her to rule because the other gods were dead.
