    Yes! When dancers talk about musicality, they mean rhythm. And they love to show how they can count. When I teach them, I let them know that musicality is not only shown through rhythmic accuracy. Language is a great buffer.
    However, no. If this teacher came into my middle school music room and asked these questions, he would get vocal responses he did not expect and would not tie in or further the point he’s trying to make. The middle-schoolers I teach might likely hear “the long note in the first one” which is not the case in 1/8, 1/4, 1/8.
    Shaping delivery and crafting language. Very tricky some times depending on audience.
