I think this is the best tip for mixing a song I have heard anywhere. Period. I have been recording some songs with remote artists and it has helped immensely. Thanks!
Thank you so much, i was just in the middle of the mix of my first ever album and this notification popped up. I think that’s what I needed. I think i’ll be able to finish it now. So Thank you, you’re doing god’s work. More love and power to you, brother ❤️
Nice video, Dylan! I did a CD with my school's Motown band years back. One of the singers was a little "ahead" of the beat. When the sound engineer nudged her back a bit (not sure by how much) the song went from ok to amazing! Nice info here. Thanks!
Woah this confused me for a sec... now I get it: "Nudge it Back or Forward" refers to the placement on the timeline but I assumed you meant placement to the beat. Otherwise, great video and love your work!!
I don't get it. You say that the drums race ahead lika a runaway train, and then it appears that you move them forward? The first time, you can even see the drums jumping forward. Same thing but reversed with the vocals - you press the left arrow. Moving stuff to the left is backing, not forwarding, or...? Please explain.
If they are too ahead or rushing the song, you move them forward so they lag a bit more. Remember the song plays from left to right, so putting them forward actually slows them.
@@verdean11 i I am embarrassed. I get it now. Thanks for replying. Another question: do you think these timing issues sometimes may be due to the recording process, rather than the musicians having a sense of timing that’s not ideal?
I love the channel, the quality of the content is and always has been excellent. But: please don't keep you on the screen during the screencasts. There is no need, we're supposed to be looking at Logic, and it's very distracting. Especially with the bright cyan frame. (No offense, I truly mean this as constructive criticism. There are waaaaay too many who do this IMO.)

I swear my head bumped symultaniously to yours 😂😂
Not a bad video. I was actually feeling the groove by the end of the video.
Hey Dylan, I love your work. Can you make a video about saving CPU Power/Logic overload problem? Thanks!

So glad I could help! It's one of my favorite moments in a mix when you nudge something back and it just suddenly "feels" right...

Your videos are the best. So much value. Wish I could sub again
Q. Just wondering do you keep track of your nudges, as in a log of some kind? So you know what got adjusted and where etc.
I will use it on a production with only guitar and voice, I'm sure it will work!
Great tip.👍
Great video

Nudging tracks is a nightmare scenario
At one point the drums and the 16th notes on the keyboard were out of synch.
