While my deputy chief's truck was in the shop getting upfitted he ended up getting the demo as a loaner. Talk about craziness! Got to use it on a couple of calls and it was awesome. He particularly liked the steady flash and the ability to dim at night, though he still found it a bit to bright lol. We all loved it as well and found an excuse to "move it"

I never understood crossovers until a cop explained it to me: "A crossover is a wagon that looks like an SUV and is therefore cooler." Considering how heavily wagons are used overseas for police work the PIU's sales numbers made a lot more sense once I was told that. Great job from whelen and pro-gard (I do like pro-gard's slick shield setup a lot), look forward to more demonstrator vehicles being paraded around the sirennet facility :)

Do you think a used AWD Ford Explore interceptor is good vehicle to get for personal vehicle for volunteer fire fighter or a used AWD Ford Taurus Police interceptor?
Our police chief in Goreville ILL is wanting to get a new 4by4 for the winter and he's thinking either a pickup truck or one of these explorers (depending on which he can afford and such) so I am wondering in your opinion which is better for a unmarked patrol unit (especially for the winter when it snows a lot) the Ford F-150 pickup or the explorer? And for the pickup which is a better design for unmarked, one with the camper and lights in the camper or one with a bed cover or just have the bed open?
Hi Brandon... Our preference would be the F-150 with a camper. Solid 4x4 capability and room to carry a lot of gear safely and most importantly- dry and out of the snow and ice.

What lighting spots should be key when for a public works 2013 ford interceptor utility. I do emergency communications for my county, but since it's not through the PD or FD I am restricted to Amber/White lighting. Also, due to recent times, I would find it more advantageous to have hideaway lights to look less like law enforcement. Any recommendations, tips, or tricks?
Key locations for adding Lighting; front grille, front side fenders, rearview mirrors, side third window, rear upper hatch, mid-hatch/license plate area. In our opinion an overhead lighting bar helps provide the most lighting but if you'd like to stay with a discrete look, you'll definitely want to go with a 2-piece interior bar and something about the width of the rear hatch for brighter warning and traffic directing (if there's the need).

When the Utility is On and idling, the Electrical System can support the Lighting, Control and Radios/ MDT without an issue. If the Rig were shut-off, the Radios and Computer will drawn more then the LED Warning System. It is a lot of Lighting, so the battery won't last hours without a restart. To get around this and keep from having a completely dead battery, a Module like the Havis Charge Guard is idea to use.

Amazing car, I love the lights on the bumper for illumination, but next time, could you guys include outer edge lighting on the rear of the vehicle

The single color ION's use the TIR lens while the DUO and TRIO use a linear diffuser over the diodes with a non-optic lens.

Not very often. So long as power managements done correctly, everything should work safely.
SIRENNET, which controller did that vehicle use? How did they flash the m2's and then run them on steady burn?
It's using Whelen Engineering's Cantrol system. The lighting wires directly to the main control unit and the settings are programmed from there.

The Explorer and Utility differ on the partitions. You'll need to use the correct version otherwise the fit will be off.
