Some troubling trends creeping in for these jets. 1. Slow sleepy starts. 2. Sub par nhl d core. Pionk constantly makes blunders in his own end and demelo is not a #2. A total lack of a decent 3rd pairing without miller in the lineup. Won’t win with this core as it’s currently constructed. 3. Wish they could finally solve the 2c problem. 7 is a decent player but but is better suited to a 4th line role. 4. Lack of true depth scoring. 4th line adds absolutely nothing offensively besides iafallo. Barron hasn’t scored a goal at even strength all year. 5. The metrics at 5v5 are not pretty lately. Relying on that pp way too much
I agree with you on at least the first, second (TBD in the latter case on specifics on the subpar blue line) and fourth points that you make. These Jets knew, going into their December California road trip, they were going to be playing games on consecutive evenings Central Time, against two of the lowest ranked teams in the Pacific Division. The Jets didn’t start off great against the Sharks and we’re lucky to squeak by them and thought that maybe the same strategy would work against the Ducks. Yes the Jets earned a split on their California road trip, earning two out of a possible four standings points, but were lucky to earn the two points they had earned considering sloppy play in both games.
Yeah that’s fair. That’s what I (Dave) said awhile ago because it gives them an opportunity to evaluate fully now so they can make an informed decision before trade deadline.
The talent level is not fraudulent but the effort sure seemed to be. Looks like the second half slump has arrived early this year.

I'd rather the team play this way now than later and going into post season.
