Always nice to see how genius they all were considering the times they had their own territories where they could carry out any idea they may have had it was entirely a failure. I have a confession, I'm the guy who brought Hogan to WCW. I was on the set at the MGM studio for thunder in paradise. I changed the garbage and sweapt the floor while Hogan sat before Bischoff showed up. You're welcome Eric off to do the toilets now

Some of these comments are pure GOLD 😂😂😂 How do I put this……. Greg seems like a nice guy, but obviously has an inferiority complex… and is known to… umm…. overstate his contributions to pro wrestling.
Everyone loves taking credit for making the call and getting Hogan to WCW. Yet none of them mention that by this point Hogan had been in multiple films and has an agent. So getting Hogan “committed to sit down and talk,” would be as easy as calling his agent and setting up a meeting. Fucking carnies.
When you can’t admit your own faults, can you be believed? Surely, him and his Dad aren’t the geniuses he’s trying to portray, or else they’d still be in business?
@@uncledrosselmeyer6480 According to Greg, both him and his dad were absolute wrestling geniuses who had all these brilliant ideas, and never screwed anyone ever yet claim it was everyone else who screwed them over. It’s absolutely ridiculous. I don’t think either one of them (I know for sure Greg hasn’t, not sure about Verne) ever admitted that it was a MASSIVE mistake not pulling the trigger on Hulk Hogan and having him win the AWA title in April 1983. That was the time for him to win it because he was absolutely white hot, but they did that stupid Dusty finish and those fans in St. Paul nearly rioted. And I think that’s what sped up Hogan’s decision to go to WWF, that along with Verne wanting a percentage of the money Hulk was making in Japan. But if you listen to Greg, he’d have you believe they had all these big plans for Hogan yet they got screwed over by Hogan, Vince, and to some extent Andre
I've watched shoots with just about everybody who claims to have been behind the scenes at WCW. They all claim to have brought Hogan in and they all were the ones with the ideas that made the ratings climb. The one thing everybody else seems to agree on is that Bischoff was the one that ran it in the ground.
Funny how that seems to work out. Weird how they never had those genius ideas anywhere else though. But somehow that never registers to them. Almost wonder if they’ve lied about this stuff for so long that they actually believe it by now.
Odd note on that. This could be the only grain of truth. WCW is the company that paid over the hill Iron Sheik and forgot to fire him and paid him for another year!
@@robertpeacock894 I know at one point they were signing Janetty, Poffo, Rick Martel et al to 2-3 year deals and proceeded to pretty much allow them to sit at home, with Poffo working a grand total of 5 matches in three years... so I could easily see Iron Sheik being 'locked down' and whatever expense that extra year cost they chalked up to 'it keeps him away from WWE' which is about the only reason they'd have had to hire Janetty at the time
At 10:52 Greg states that Eric some how got Hulks number. Actully it was Hogan who contacted Eric right after Greg called him, because Hulk really never trusted Greg or Vern. Thats why Hulk wanted to make the deal with Eric and not Greg. Thats what Eric says. Im no fan of Eric Bischoff, but I beleive his take on this one. Then Eric and Ric visited the Hulk on the set of Thunder in Paradise to close the deal.
That's great Greg, but the fact remains you guys had Hogan, Flair, Iron Sheik, Rhodes, Race, hell everybody ! And you didn't move them up or develop them. Instead you kept Crusher on top when he was around 60 and could barely move. I was there, I saw it.
Since Greg is such a "genius" why is that he couldn't save his dad's company? With a mind like that Greg could have made AWA a global entity that surpassed WWE
Don't you know AWA only Failed because Hulk Didn't have faith in Verne (wonder why) to actually push him with the belt after 3? 'Dusty Finishes' (more like Verne Specials) where Hogan 'won' the strap only to have it reversed on a technicality - They were gonna put Hogan/Andre on CBS , but no one told Hulk because they wanted it to be a surprise
Greg should know one thing, everyone that I know thought the AWA was the best wrestling organization ever. I personally want to thank him and if I could his dad for bringing great entertainment into the homes of people in the midwest, while we dealt with our rough winters. The wrestlers were amazing. I saw several matches around Minnesota and the state. I was happily entertained by all of them. We loved The Crusher, Super Destroyer, Butcher and Mad Dog Vachon, even Jessie Ventura, but our absolute favorite was Nick Bockwinkle......nalturally we enjoyed the Gagne's. Fantastic entertainment. I think Pro Wrestling was even more popular in the midwest than the Vikings or even the Twins, at least for a time....You guys put on the best show and matches.
Being older now i relize how cool AWA was ,, they came to a small town in U.P MICHIGAN and i was trying to find my seat came up to ropes at the end of a aile and think should i cross then Hulk Hogan walks out right in front of me he was huge and yes he was at least ,6/7 maybe bigger his arms never seen arms like and my cousin had 20 inch arms he was a body builder but Hogans were bigger point at the ring to he he was wrestling. The Baron , Mad Dog , Bockwinkle ,Greg it was great then later a high school they did they WWF would never do they should with the smaller less known guys to get them ring time
17:30 - His AWA vs NWA scenario shows how much Greg is now as delusional as his father was. Just a terrible idea, good god...and he compares it to the nWo and say it would have been stronger!? Holy hell man, how delusional can one guy be!? 😕😕😕
The story of who got Hogan into WCW is very simple, both Flair and Bischoff have said that Bischoff asked Flair to contact Hogan and set up a meeting. Chances are that's what happend. Though that being said, according to Jim Ross, Hogan had tried to get into WCW in 1993 when Bill Watts was still in charge, but, Hogan didn't like Watts so it didn't happen.
Hogan, Flair, and Bischoff all tell the same exact story in 3 different books in various shoots. Flair and Bischoff didn't bury the hatchet until years after these books so it's not like Bischoff or Flair didn't have reason to lie. But Hogan's book was first and he tells the same story.
18:35 So what's the secret? How would they have kept it going? Being a few decades later now, he never explains that part of it either. Another thing, if Eric screwed him over several times like he claims, then why did he keep going back to him and offering advice and help?
Why would anyone in their right mind give Greg a % of Hogan's merchandise, PPV's etc etc just in return for him giving them his number to set up a meeting - this guy is full of himself
Some of these Greg stories have changed over the years. He used to say that he didn't read the contract before he signed it. Now he says there was no contract to sign because the deal was done. As Jim Brunzell said, Greg is fos like Verne but only Verne could get away with it. In the end not even Verne got away with it.
That entire story is bullshit anyway and has been debunked by many people. It was Flair who got Hogan to come to WCW. Had it been Greg who contacted Hulk about coming in, Hogan would’ve never agreed to it. He still hated the Gagnes for how he was treated in AWA

I have a confession, I'm the guy who brought Hogan to WCW. I was on the set at the MGM studio for thunder in paradise. I changed the garbage and sweapt the floor while Hogan sat before Bischoff showed up. You're welcome Eric off to do the toilets now
Haha LOL!
Greg letting the world know that Biscoff was making a fool out of him at every turn…which is hilarious.
Looking like the respectable man that misters Verne and Greg are the only ones that I was watching since I can remember I recall stuff from late 76. I have nothing but respect for your family.. thank you for the fun memories. My father worked at American Freight for 27 years worked with the boys in the business and worked loading trucks by hand and my father had ut most respect for curt,Scott hall,Jerry Blackwell..
Who is this? Marty Miller?
Very good interview. I was late for work listening to it.
Some of these comments are pure GOLD 😂😂😂
How do I put this……. Greg seems like a nice guy, but obviously has an inferiority complex… and is known to… umm…. overstate his contributions to pro wrestling.
Greg Gagne is the TK Kirkland of the Wrestling business
I was thinking the same thing
God has Greg Gagne on speed dial in case God needs advice.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
26:20 exactly how I feel about this interview 😆
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂pahahahahahahahahah!!!!
I think Gagné is projecting when he says stuff like that lol
how many people got hogan into wcw ?
frieza LOL right. Was it Greg?Mike Graham? Ric Flair? Kevin Sullivan?
Everyone loves taking credit for making the call and getting Hogan to WCW. Yet none of them mention that by this point Hogan had been in multiple films and has an agent. So getting Hogan “committed to sit down and talk,” would be as easy as calling his agent and setting up a meeting.
Fucking carnies.
Bischoff always said it was Flair who talked to Hogan.
@@robkearsy2995 That's how I always understood it, Flair being the middleman between Turner and Hogan
From what I gathered it was flair... hogan said it was flair
When you can’t admit your own faults, can you be believed? Surely, him and his Dad aren’t the geniuses he’s trying to portray, or else they’d still be in business?
What’re you talking about??
I learned my lesson by not signing the contract. Then he asked me what can I do but then I proceed to tell him how before signing the contract.
Interesting note, in Hogan's first book, there is no mention of Greg Gagne being the man behind the Hulkster moving to WCW. Not at I recall.
I've watched shoots with just about everybody who claims to have been behind the scenes at WCW. They all claim to have brought Hogan in and they all were the ones with the ideas that made the ratings climb. The one thing everybody else seems to agree on is that Bischoff was the one that ran it in the ground.
Mike Graham & Kevin Sullivan were the reasons Hulk went there
I believe Mike Grahams version over Gregs... Hogan Dicked over Verne I'm sure Greg stayed on good terms with Hogan after that...Gimme a break
Funny how that seems to work out. Weird how they never had those genius ideas anywhere else though. But somehow that never registers to them. Almost wonder if they’ve lied about this stuff for so long that they actually believe it by now.
Greg Gagne has the credibility of a used car salesman, which ironically is what he became after he was no longer employable in professional wrestling.
I can see him selling used Oldsmobile 4 door cutlass Supreme..
@@jamie.777 Loved my 73 2 door cutlass Supreme. My first car and plenty of power in that engine. Sort of a muscle car unlike Greg's look.
😂😂😂😂😂 "employable"
For some reason I never believe a word he says...
I agree
He’s a liar
@@Batony why?
his stories never change though.
I bet he would be a great car salesman lol

Greg Gagne was the main advisor during the writing of the Bible.
"So I told Vince,ya gotta go national and expand!"
Wait. WCW offered him a contract. The “same as the top guys were getting”. Does he really expect anyone to believe that???
No wrestling fan on earth believes that
not even with Verne in the office would Ted have allowed that debit on his Checkbook
Odd note on that. This could be the only grain of truth. WCW is the company that paid over the hill Iron Sheik and forgot to fire him and paid him for another year!
@@robertpeacock894 I know at one point they were signing Janetty, Poffo, Rick Martel et al to 2-3 year deals and proceeded to pretty much allow them to sit at home, with Poffo working a grand total of 5 matches in three years... so I could easily see Iron Sheik being 'locked down' and whatever expense that extra year cost they chalked up to 'it keeps him away from WWE' which is about the only reason they'd have had to hire Janetty at the time
I can see the offer being real since they wanted the ESPN time slot...wouldn't have been the first time WCW overpaid to get what they wanted.
Why take credit for getting rid of JR when he went on to become the greatest announcer ever.? He even kept the southern accent too imagine that.
No, Flair contacted Hogan for Bischoff. All three have verified this. Gagne had nothing to do with it.
That's great Greg, but the fact remains you guys had Hogan, Flair, Iron Sheik, Rhodes, Race, hell everybody ! And you didn't move them up or develop them. Instead you kept Crusher on top when he was around 60 and could barely move. I was there, I saw it.
Also had Dr.D, Heenan, Jesse, Brody, Hansen, Hennig, Hall, and Shawn Michaels
The talent the AWA had in the early to mid 80s was insane. But Verne was too behind in the times to evolve.
Since Greg is such a "genius" why is that he couldn't save his dad's company? With a mind like that Greg could have made AWA a global entity that surpassed WWE
How so??
Don't you know AWA only Failed because Hulk Didn't have faith in Verne (wonder why) to actually push him with the belt after 3? 'Dusty Finishes' (more like Verne Specials) where Hogan 'won' the strap only to have it reversed on a technicality
- They were gonna put Hogan/Andre on CBS , but no one told Hulk because they wanted it to be a surprise
@@TJ52359 He did tell him On November 14,1983 down in Phoenix before Hogan jetted off to Japan.
Who to believe.... I'd love to believe Greg given how much I love the AWA but.......
"I gave Linda Lovelace a sore throat" -Greg Gagne.

Greg GAGne
This pro wrestling gurus genius mind doesn't read his own damn contract, hmmmmm
Greg Gagne is the Jackie Jr. of pro wrestling.
Tremendous comparison. “My father……”

Eric "long pause" Bischoff. Priceless!!
I love to hear Greg Gagne stories.Do I believe everything he says I dont know.I wasnt there but it sure is entertaining
That's a shoot
Never knew Greg worked out😂
Greg ,definitely lives in a fantasy world .
Did the interveiwer not listen to anything Greg said?
Being older now i relize how cool AWA was ,, they came to a small town in U.P MICHIGAN and i was trying to find my seat came up to ropes at the end of a aile and think should i cross then Hulk Hogan walks out right in front of me he was huge and yes he was at least ,6/7 maybe bigger his arms never seen arms like and my cousin had 20 inch arms he was a body builder but Hogans were bigger point at the ring to he he was wrestling. The Baron , Mad Dog , Bockwinkle ,Greg it was great then later a high school they did they WWF would never do they should with the smaller less known guys to get them ring time
So Greg got Hogan into WCW, went behind Bischoff's back with Hogan to try and do a big money deal, and then was going to murder Bischoff.....
I thought Flair got Hogan for Bischoff, originally
Dan you’re right Flair got Hogan in with assistance of Bischoff. Contract was so large it also needed Ted’s approval.
He needs to come back to earth!! Man!!
lol everyone taking credit for bringing in hogan.
hayesc0 He also brought in Beefcake and told Bischoff OWN
I'M SPARTACUS!!!
17:30 - His AWA vs NWA scenario shows how much Greg is now as delusional as his father was. Just a terrible idea, good god...and he compares it to the nWo and say it would have been stronger!? Holy hell man, how delusional can one guy be!? 😕😕😕
But he knew the secret...you know, the one to keep it going. No one else knows it except him.
@@Kaneseb😂😂😂😂that's why the AWA is still going strong as the number one federation in the world.
It’s 2am and I’m listening to Greg Gagne
Greg Gagne invented wrestling.
Greg, are you still with us?
Greg Gagne was so heavy on lies here but still this was funny
Another guy that brought Hogan over. 🤦♂️
Lol yeah he has said this in many interviews and again so have so many its endless
When Flair couldn't get Hulk he immediately called Mike Graham and Greg Gagne.
18:35 So what's the secret? How would they have kept it going? Being a few decades later now, he never explains that part of it either. Another thing, if Eric screwed him over several times like he claims, then why did he keep going back to him and offering advice and help?
I can just feel my intelligence level dropping
👍
Why would anyone in their right mind give Greg a % of Hogan's merchandise, PPV's etc etc just in return for him giving them his number to set up a meeting - this guy is full of himself
Another Mike Graham. Woulda,Coulda,Shouida. 😃
Never drew a dime! Both of them!
Some of these Greg stories have changed over the years. He used to say that he didn't read the contract before he signed it. Now he says there was no contract to sign because the deal was done. As Jim Brunzell said, Greg is fos like Verne but only Verne could get away with it. In the end not even Verne got away with it.
They were working 366 days a year....
“They got Hogan and never got my deal.” Why would they give him a piece? He did literally nothing.
What’s the difference?
That entire story is bullshit anyway and has been debunked by many people. It was Flair who got Hogan to come to WCW. Had it been Greg who contacted Hulk about coming in, Hogan would’ve never agreed to it. He still hated the Gagnes for how he was treated in AWA
"the first day,as you know, I created the heavens and the earth"
