Two of the founding legions are close to being vampires in space, the Night Lords and the Blood Angels. I figure if the sides of traitors and loyalists were reversed, the Blood Angels would truly become space vampires while the Night Lords would become an army Batmans
I can very well imagine that Angels Vermilion suffering fever and fever cases of Black Rage is the sign of them falling further away from the connection to their primarch through the blood rituals they perform. In the sense of those rituals slowly transforming them from blood angels sucessor chapter into something else entirely.
They exist, they're called the Genesis Chapter. They're so alike they can borrow marines off each other to fill gaps in their ranks without any difficulty - not talking about Aspirants or Scouts, but full Battle Brothers. They even live 'next door' to each other, Galactically speaking.

True, but I suppose that is out of necessity, since the entire galaxy would probably be ripped apart by demons without the emperor constantly holding back the chaos gods in the warp... What a lovely place the 41st millennium is, eh?
Chris Dawkins You could make the argument that what the angels vermillion do is also out of necessity, to prevent space marines from succumbing to the black rage and slaughtering everything. Besides, the Flesh Tearers, Soul Drinkers, Mortifactors, and several other chapters are just as bad.
I am Dream A single chapter of space marines joining the ruinous powers is more manageable than having an army of daemons pour out of a warp rift to murder fuck every life form in the galaxy.
We need a new Dante model, for such a great leader and him now being the highest ranked, below only Guilliman himself he needs a much more robust and ornate armour set. I love the old model but it's just not grand enough for a warrior of his age and status.
It's also a reminder of a time when everything wasn't overdesigned fragile plastic bullshit for 5 times the price, a fool and their money are soon parted though so I'm sure you'll get your wish soon.
Even from back in the 2nd ed Angels of Death codex I believe it was hinted that the Angels Vermillion leaned more heavily into their vampiric side out of all of the many offshoots of the Blood Angels. All of this updated narrative about them is really interesting and entertaining. It's really nice to see more successors getting fleshed out backgrounds in the setting.
This is why I like the wolves. Didn't bother making any successor chapters (we'll just ignore that one time that didn't work out so great...), don't have to worry about this kind of shit. And if anyone else commits atrocities against civilians, Logan is quite happy to teleport onto their flagship and behead an inquisitor or two until they stop. A bit of casual bestiality is surely worth it for such peace of mind.
Same with the Salamanders. Only less furry and heretical. Though part of it is, I suspect the chapters specially designated gene seed along with that of the Alpha Legion that have prevented any use of it for new chapters. At least openly.
When I was going through the Devastation of Bhaal and Dante said common in Knights of Blood (which are like an even worst version of the Flesh Tearers) and he said hell no to the Angels Vermillion, I was like, "What the hell did they do!?"After looking it up, yeah that is some Khorne worshiper crap.
I think its just that the Angels vermilion raise the fear of falling into Khorne's worship in a way that even the flesh tearer's do not. Both do not seem to hold civilians in any real regard but the FT chapter does it in combat and not in ritual observance. In the grand scheme of things one seems better than the other. The blood god does not care from where the blood flows, and sacrificing a sanguinary priest smacks of heresy.

well, fact that angels vermillion chapter being closet cannibals in it's entirety is an open secret amongst blood angels and their successors, and since we know how knights of blood were looking at the near end of devastation of baal, it wouldn't be far fetched, since it is known khorne has a big hard on for the angels just as much slaanesh does. Though if we consider the older fluff about blood god, i'd say this mechanized slaughter of innocents would avert the blood god's gaze just as much as black rage.. since back then khorne was pretty big on fighting worthy foes in open battles..
I’ve been thinking about what the situation would be like if the Loyalist and Traitor Legions were flipped during the Heresy, about what would happen if Guilliman and the others were the ones who betrayed the Emperor while Horus and his crew fought against them. How’s this sound? 1. Guilliman would be the new Lorgar. Horrified that the Emperor had forced his Legion to destroy Monarchia in his name, he would seek some answer as to why the Emperor was so determined to deny the existence of the supernatural, and learn about the true nature of the Warp in the process. I could see him turning as his desire to have everything under his control could lead him to become obsessive. I would also think Guilliman would try to establish Imperium Secundus to show the Emperor that they were in charge, and he might even nominate Sanguinius for the role of leadership. 2. I could see both the Blood Angels with their blood-drinking fetish and the Space Wolves with their uncontrollable bestial rage leading either of them becoming disciples of Khorne, or perhaps even both - It might be interesting for their two Legions to have an eternal rivalry for the Blood God’s favor. 3. I could also see Blood Angels falling to Slaaneshi worship, since behind the scenes they’re so obsessed with proving to themselves that they’re not monsters by making beautiful works of art. And with Sanguinius being seemingly perfect but him knowing deep down he’s flawed, it could be just enough to push him towards an endless search for ‘perfection’. 4. I could see Lion as a possible candidate for Warmaster in place of Horus - replacing a Wolf with a Lion is an interesting way to mix it up. And it would make some sort of sense for him to become Warmaster, since his was the first Legion. Alternatively, their pension for keeping secrets might make them appealing to Tzeentch, or make them a counter to the Alpha Legion. 5. Imperial Fists is a hard one to call. Maybe they could become a counterpoint to the Iron Warriors, though I would probably place the Iron Hands as the tech-based heretical Legion. They could be possible Nurgle worshippers... Nurgle’s Fists? Maybe? 6. Iron Hands = See Imperial Fists example. 7. White Scars I’m of two minds on. On the one hand, they have a history of sorcery that could lead to them worshipping Tzeentch. On the other hand, when I think of the idea of traitor White Scars, the term ‘Blight Scars’ keeps coming into my head. It’s possible, right? 8. Raven Guard could either take the Alpha Legion path and be involved with espionage, or maybe go the full Night Lords and turn into flying blood-crazed loonie birds. 9. Wouldn’t Vulkan make a tragic Warmaster? He probably would’ve started the Heresy out of a desire to protect those who were being lied to by the Emperor, only to end up causing more harm than good. Other than that, there’s a lot of ways you could go with the Salamanders - Huge scary dudes with glowing red eyes and charcoal black skin would make intimidating villains. Almost as if they were some kind of black legion? Okay it’s cheap, but I had to add that in somewhere. Otherwise, they could make use of the impressive toys Vulkan likes to make in his spare time, or perhaps become Nurgle-worshippers who like to make the best use of their acidic attacks by spitting at their enemies. Or they could make scary-looking dragon-themed Khorne worshippers.

I love how utterly screwed the space marines are and how little unification there actually is in the Emperium. It makes for harrowing times, but really good stories.
Honestly they might be onto something. Just not quite right. The blood of Sanguinius is the thing helping them. In the Blood Angels omnibus, they use one of the.. conversion coffins (I forgot the name) to purge the bad stuff out of a marine. The clan of the pure blood, ironically enough has impure blood.
It's likely the mirror on the dark side of blood angels that had the largest impact their actions just reinforced the underlying fear and shame of taint that Dante holds.
I imagine the Lamenters getting the news that Baal was under siege and being about to come to their parent chapter’s aid, when some arse of an Ordo Hereticus Inquisitor just steps in and waves his finger like “y’all are STILL on a penitent crusade, don’t be getting any funny ideas”.
Not to mention all the chapter masters of the Blood Angels successors falling over themselves to be like "nah, we got enough guys you don't have to come. (Aside: what's that old Terran ritual for good luck again? Something to do with salt?)"
Honestly a simple solution here. Annual planet-wide blood drives for the "Guard at the battle fronts" collect the blood over 50 years in a stasis chamber and sacrifice one Astartes at the end or do the same thing there with the Astartes blood. No loss of innocent life and Astartes and you still have all the blood you need. Next challenge!

I like how each of the successor chapters of the Blood Angels all have different gene seed mutations and deal with the Black Rage and the Red Thirst in different ways. It gives them all an interesting twist. The Devastation of Baal has this in spades.
This is the reason i adore the blood angels they walk the fine line between Loved paragons of the Emperors astartes and Hated Heretical monsters, The Angels Vermillion going down this path dont suffer from the black rage as much but have to get worse and worse to stave it off, while those that dont do these horrible acts are more likely to suffer the black rage, Khorne may hate trickery but this is one horribly tricky move hes pulled.
They were too busy to take Dante's call. I wouldn't be surprised if they rushed to Baal after surviving the Tyranids only to find the battle long over.
Some of the Angels Vermillion made good on their commitment when they were hammered while coming to aid Baal. They admitted fault and came to make a sacrifice of themselves. As far as the rest of their chapter, whatever remains of the hundred, I can't remember if any of them remained after the battle, should be held aside and the remainder of the primaris and normal Blood Angels successor chapters should be led in a scouring of the main host of the Angels Vermillion. Tyranids nearly did the job for him. Now the majority of the BA and their successors are Primaris Marines.
I'm a simple man. If I see a theory/video relating to descendants of the 9th Legion Astartes, then I click.
I can very well imagine that Angels Vermilion suffering fever and fever cases of Black Rage is the sign of them falling further away from the connection to their primarch through the blood rituals they perform. In the sense of those rituals slowly transforming them from blood angels sucessor chapter into something else entirely.
I'm early let me tell a joke

What about their techmarines?
Red Smurfs are canon.
They exist, they're called the Genesis Chapter. They're so alike they can borrow marines off each other to fill gaps in their ranks without any difficulty - not talking about Aspirants or Scouts, but full Battle Brothers. They even live 'next door' to each other, Galactically speaking.

Not much different than how the Emperor powers the Golden Throne.

Not to mention that Russ is the only loyalist primarch who injured and cornered Horus..

Another fine "Loyalist Chapter"
Even tho the MM are bastards in their purest form, I somehow like them😂
Honestly, even if they ratted out the Blood Angels, I'm sure first founding privledge would have saved them
I’ve been thinking about what the situation would be like if the Loyalist and Traitor Legions were flipped during the Heresy, about what would happen if Guilliman and the others were the ones who betrayed the Emperor while Horus and his crew fought against them.
Dante becomes Lord Commander of Imperium Nilus. Guilliman leaves Ball. Dante calls together all the succesor chapter masters to a secret meeting they all cast there votes they all unanimously agree the first order of business is to remove the stain of the Angles Vermilion
Das a big power axe
It's likely the mirror on the dark side of blood angels that had the largest impact their actions just reinforced the underlying fear and shame of taint that Dante holds.
Angels Vermillion don't have first captains, they have thirst captains.
I subscribed 10 minutes before the notification
probably what he was waiting for before he upload. Good job.
shame, I thought it was because they borrowed Dante's hedgetrimmer 700 years ago and never returned it.
From the Blood Ravens Vaults: a vox recording believed to be of Primarch Konrad Curze, at the end of the Heresy era.
"So, I'm talking to Sanguinius on my last night hanging out at his pad in the soon-to-be Unremembered Empire, and we start talking about the kids. 'Bro,' I tell him, 'I've seen what's going down. My brood are just violent screw-ups thinking their atrocities are going to win points from their daddy. Too bad for them I stopped giving a damn about 'em, and they're just going to be carnage carnies in space. But yours ... oh boy, good guy vampires serving a superstitious lot that would burn them at the stake.'
The Angel gets all huffy, saying it's not his fault and I just laugh. 'It's always our fault! We got Wonder Dad on the gold chair being the biggest hypocrite in the galaxy, claiming we're perfection when he slipped in a bunch of untested weird genes that really aren't working out in order to make us demigods -- tell me, do I look like perfection and a god? Does Mortarion smell like an angel? And then guys like you and me attracting the eyes of things he doesn't tell us about, except Magnus -- and he's freaking out because his Space Marines are growing eyes on their noses and turning inside out, all while he's too ignorant to realize that warp he dabbles with IS the reason they're mutating. And of course Dad being Dad, he drops off the muties and leaves Magnus to figure warp magic and DNA issues out alone -- and look where that got him. You think Dad is going to help you figure this one out if you get to Earth? Might as well be Angron, and he was stupid enough to ask Lorgar for help with his hair.'
"I must have hit a nerve, cause Sang just froze and did the Munch scream, and that second sight of mine -- thanks, Dad -- showed me it was freaking out his kids down the road. A bunch of pale, fanged Space Marines that would be mistaken for Drukhari 'roid rejects, with blood dribbling down their chins, screaming for heretic burgers and snarfing down shroom-skins. 'Eat, my brothers! EAT!'
"Hey humanity, sorry to tell you: we're boned, and it just gets worse from here on. But on the bright side, ya'll taste like fine pork chops. One of the first things I learned, by the way -- oh so civilized Dad gave me cannibalism perks. So do yourself a favor and head off to places getting terrorized by warp spawn, giant bugs from another galaxy or Angels Vermillion and ask to be eaten first. (Slurps evilly) Let the galaxy charbroil, piggies."

This popped up while finishing up a chapter in The Devastation of Baal where the Angels Vermillion showed. Are you sure you're not CIA?
sounds very similar to the warrior lodges the idea can be made to sound good but they are slowly and surely succumbing to their inner desires and flaws instead of building up a resistance through moderate indulgence to placate the beast within in the end all paths in the warhammer and 40k worlds lead to the powers of chaos it's all about resisting and fighting against the inevitable end or a new beginning depending on the view point
I like how each of the successor chapters of the Blood Angels all have different gene seed mutations and deal with the Black Rage and the Red Thirst in different ways. It gives them all an interesting twist. The Devastation of Baal has this in spades.
What they did is wrong, but that's their business. I rest easy knowing the Angels Encarmine are Dante's favorites.

As far as the rest of their chapter, whatever remains of the hundred, I can't remember if any of them remained after the battle, should be held aside and the remainder of the primaris and normal Blood Angels successor chapters should be led in a scouring of the main host of the Angels Vermillion.
