  • I wanted to share some of the things I learned about these vehicles. I don't see many people talk about these fun facts. This video is mainly for members of the Jurassic Park Motor Pool.

All the flaws in the cars makes sense canonically. Eddie Carr even says, "You can't shave 3 days off my deadline and expect everything to be ready." All of his employess were working on the cars the day that Ian decided the Gatherer Expedition was going to leave. I imagine Eddie just told his mechanics to do whatever they could to get them as ready as they could. In film, movie cars are also rushed, kinda funny how that worked out.
Also thanks for pointing out these details, looking to aquire an ML-320 of my own in order to do a replica of Eddies. Slight alterations may be made to make it more offroad worthy.

This video was incredible, it was well explained, all the details were described, the video is easy to understand, basically it is perfect, it's a shame that this video doesn't have so many views.

Thank you! And to be fair I feel like Lost World and the Mercedes vehicles aren't as iconic as the original Jurassic Park and the Jeep Wranglers and Ford Explorers. Nonetheless growing up Lost World was and still is my favorite classic JP movie to this day ❤🖤🦖

    I had just gotten a ML320 1998. It's a decent vehicle.

Thank you shedding light on these underrated vehicles. I often struggle to remember which name goes to which car. My mnemonic for the pickup is ‘Santana = sans = having less’. ‘Montana = something mounted on it’.

@@arko09 funny enough after this video was posted we finally got a clear look at the Mattel ML. I was wrong and it's just a fusion of Santana and Fontana, the bubble dome is there and you can flip it open!

Nice video, Hugo! Thanks for the credits in the beginning. Great you did a video! I hope it inspires more ML builds. I agree they aren't mentioned enough.
The first badges of ML's had an option called "Sky View" roofs. It was a lamella system which turned out to be a problem for nearly all owners sooner or later. They are pretty rare to find in good condition. Basically the structure of the car was good enough for the complete roof to be cut off. This ML still uses the ladder-chassis instead of a self-supporting body. My guess is that they used a body with a Skyview roof (you can see on the picture of the production process of the movie cars in your video) as the basis and cut it open further to install the bubble roof and have an even bigger opening. The roof lining then was custom made (you can see it in our photo's in your video).
The thing in the middle, on top, of the dashboard is indeed GPS. A combination of Mercedes own system and some aftermarket GPS from that time. The Mercedes GPS is very hard to get. We didn't find one so far. The other parts pop up on eBay every once in a while.
The wheel wells are indeed cut open (I have pictures/videos for you, if you like) to give the impression the ML is lifted.

I like this car coming out to a lost world. A structure is different from two depending on a use.
However, I do not know the role of the parts of the car each.🤔✨

So the interiors are some what luxury. Ahhh its reall a sub luxury suv and made for the middleclass family. Not really made to be rugged. But its a solid drivetrain.

The ML500 didn't come out until 2000. All the Mercedes used were preproduction prototype models of the 320

Why does the “hero car” not have functional rear doors, but the other Santana model has functional rear doors?

    • @Hugolovesyou17
      @Hugolovesyou17  9 місяців тому

They have both have functioning doors, only on the front. The rear ones are only have the seem of what was supposed to be a rear door but is sealed. Don't know if it was cause they're prototype bodies or to add structural integrity to the rear. Fontana has the same non functioning rear door from what some of the members of the Jurassic Park Motor Pool saw when it was on display in Universal Hollywood for the 25th Anniversary of Jurassic Park. So I'm assuming ALL variants have non functional rear doors, but they do have functioning ones in the front.

Eddie Carr drove The Pick Up Version ML320.
