- After completing our Gibraltar to Canary Islands passage, then Canary Islands to Cape Verde crossing, we are now on our FINAL STAGE of the Atlantic Crossing which is the big one!
This week we leave Cape Verde for a 2 week sail across the Atlantic Ocean from Cape Verde to the Caribbean with our dog, Jackson. We show you our life at sea for the first week, how we check the weather, how Jackson handles the passage and more.
Don't forget to SUBSCRIBE to tune in with us next week as we hit a massive storm in the middle of the ocean on our second week!

Wow those pillows look comfy!! Nice weather man skills Ryan!! Britt how do you look so pretty on passage??
Hello I am from Turkey, seyirlerinizi izliyorum çok güzel oluyor izlemesi rast gelsin kazasız belasız..
ha, now i remember where i saw this SV, i met you guys in Gibraltar. We proposed you help with docking, but you was fine without our help :) Glad that i found your channel
B safe...xoxo
Thank you!
Another great show guys
That’s a good book …
I hope Beneteau hears you and hooks you up🤓
Just think....... you're almost halfway there, if not further by the time this was posted. You're getting there..........................
That enclosed cockpit is so great worth every penny
So excited for you all!!!!! Such a Big day! And, REALLY! Hw do you plan for two weeks of pure Blue!!!!!????!!!!!? We be following you across!!!!
You crossing Atlantic Ocean is my dream!!! Only I want to cross from USA to AFRICA!
We are looking at Beneteau 50’ maybe 46’-48’ … lol but prob not smaller. Are you happy with 46’? We too will have pets aboard! Lol 😆
A sailing channel talking about sailing…so refreshing. Great vid guys.
I can think of no better ambassadors for a boat manufacturer. Always great content. How great would it be to see Jackson on a big cruising catamaran?
Thank you, thats so kind to read! We wouldn’t mind a 50’ catamaran for him to run around on 😆😂
Perfect music playing, wing on wing. 👏👏
Awesome! ❤️😊
Did you say Jackson has grass up on the bow? I've been contemplating doing that for my dog Ginger when we get our forever boat.
The perfect Sunday. I really would get a blast seeing Jackson wearing his captains hat... What's really cool, is your friends boats are so familiar to quite a few followers... It really shows the big family of sea seafarers...
He’s the true captain of this boat that’s forsure 😆
Applauding the color correction skills on this channel or you just have amazing cameras, but I’m guess it’s in the editing since the best cameras out there leave a blank canvas to work with. Amazing the difference a little white balance and some basic adjustment make to get rid of the grey. The water maintains a deep rich hue of blue, skin tones pop with warmth. Well done.
That’s really cool to hear, Brittni does all the coloring as I know I’m bad at it…. But we just use a Canon M50 which broke again, GoPro which actually just broke again also and insta360. The insta360 has brilliant colors though and so far outlasted all our other cameras 😆
Thank you all! Little late watching this week, anticipation was at all time high, of course you guys ROCK!
Good choice for the weather window, first week was a breeze
We learned our lesson from the Hib to Canary Islands crossing lol! but there was some strange weather this year, we had a huge storm come through the 2nd week though 😬 which sucked away all the trade winds!
That hat needs to be at a jaunty angle! Jackson did so well, all that training you did in Licata has paid off. Good points made about 35-45 ft boats. 20 Years ago 30 ft boats were regularly crossing both ways. The magazines would have you belive you need a 49+ ft boat with a long keel, skeg hung rudder that's over 18 tons and 30 years old 😁 You guys have again proved that it can be done and technology is your friend. Just don't get in the Bluejuice frame of mind. Them little sailors work out expensive Ryan!!!!!
Haha, oh man I know, my dad reminds me everyday 😂😂😂 Yeah, its pretty awesome to be out here and experiencing it for real, prior to crossing I was still convinced we had a small boat for this crossing judging by what you read or watch, I was a bit shocked that ours was up there with larger size (for the common folk, we did see some 70+ Sunreef catamarans go by and massive super yachts, but that's a different kettle of fish!!! lol)
Your videos are the highlight of my week. Thank you for sharing your adventures. Stay safe.
That’s great to hear! Thanks for your awesome comment! ❤️😊
You guys have me in tears laughing thanks guys for letting us hang around your adventures good weather guy Ryan
Glad to hear you enjoyed! And got a good laugh out of it! 😆 nothing better!!
You guys deserve a bigger boat it would be the Sunday Ark ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you! I think we will have to someday as Jackson gets a bit older, although at the moment we have 3 dogs onboard in St Martin!!! 😬😬😬
I’ve only just discovered your channel and it’s always sweet to come across Australians doing what I wish I should have done when I was your age. It was always on the back of my mind, nevertheless thanks 🙏. How is your “wing keel?” I guess you don’t have anything to compare it with. I noticed in the other episode as you leaving for Turkey.
👍👍👍👍👍
❤️❤️
You can eat flying fish, bit bony though and do not keep well, got to eat em fresh.
I heard that from a few people lol
Interesting to know that there are a lot of 36 and 38 ft boats out there I am still looking for the right one in the Med
Still look forward to Sunday evening
Thank you! Hope you’ve had a great Sunday! It’s 6am over here!!! 🤙🌴
So interesting to follow your journey, Jackson is the star of the show!
New to your channel. Love the content and editing. Does your beautiful GSD have a life vest? I’d be worried sick he’d jump overboard for a fish or dolphin.
How do you plan for 2 weeks weather - Good question ? "Day by Day" - priceless... well done Gang - and Jackson - so cool - not many dogs sail the Atlantic and eat flying fish ... you Mill Falcoln
and STLT.. with ya
Jackson loves the flying fish!! 😆😆 he would never eat them the gentle little soul 😩 haha yes it was so awesome to have a good group of us all out there to keep eachother company!
@@SailingSunday nah I know - he would never hurt them.. gentle soul. loved the scene of him catching ball in the Saloon..
@@SailingSunday have watched your vids and STLT vids of Ionian and Greece - so will be following your wake there - in April/May - thanks for leading the way..
I JUST watched Adam and Kiara fixing their forward furler. For having an unexpected stop in Cape Verde, they lucked out with a good group to cross the Atlantic with. Beginning THIS vid, I thought "Hey! M. Falcon must be in your flotilla!" And then you point them out!
Brittni, are you from Vancouver City itself or some burb around it? I was born in Vancouver myself and lived a few years there off and on besides my early childhood.
Fair winds and looking forward to the rest of your voyages.
Really enjoy the trip, feels like I’m there with you. Be safe! Jackson is great entertainment.
That’s great to hear! Thanks for watching 😊❤️
u guys look like ur having a great 4-day sail! Jackson is having fun w/ those flying fish. God bless everyone crossing over the Atlantic as well as their children(s), pets, and especially their boats, sails, motor, and every electronic(s)
It was a beautiful start to our crossing! So amazing, it was hard to imagine we were heading out into the Atlantic so far away from everything!
Love my sunday videos. Just think going by boat means your accommodation is there. If u don't like the place u just move. Going by plane you spend a year saving up for 2 weeks holiday in the same place. And when someone asks you which hotel u staying you point to the anchorage 🥰😃
Yes it’s definitely a good feeling bringing our home along with us!!! 😆😆
Loved it !!
Thanks!!
Boab , Joel is broken ,Gilligan lost ginger , Maryann is heartbroken from David shih , and the boat lizard needs new crew . Joel I hope he finds happiness .
We just saw Joel the other day in the Bahamas!!!! Woohoo!!! He looks stoked!
@@SailingSunday I wish I was gilligan . He will find Maryann.
Ohhh, what memories you will hav!!
It was so amazing! Can’t wait to share next week, although, that is a memory I didn’t need 🌊⛈🌩😂
I've been following ya'll for s couple years, loved the Med., But got tired and wanted sailing...well ya'll doing it, God Bless fair winds and following sea! 👍💓
Beautiful
Cheers!
Cheer’s Sunday!
Awesome! Thank you ❤️
I adore you guys! 😍😍😍 we have a lab on our sailboat and planning to cross the Atlantic next year. It is a relief and encouraging to see you and Jackson having fun 🙂 Love from Turkey!🤗
Thank you 😊 that’s awesome! We will make a more detailed video with Jackson and the crossing for everyone with bigger dogs soon because a lot of planning went into it for him ❤️🙂
I miss Turkey also!!! Sending our love from St Martin!!!
If the flying fish are dead use them as fishing bait. It kills us that so many through them in the water with no hook.
Nice video
Thank you!!
FFS guys, it’s a sailboat, put some sail up! Every +.5 kt is 12 nm/day *18 days = 204 nm…which at your pace is going to be 2 extra days out there.
You could probably play some indoor cricket as well with Jackson 😊
Can you remember when you checked Jackson out of Turkey and headed into the EU what sort of shots he needed and how long did it take to get his paperwork/ passport sorted….reason is am bringing a mate across for him (Dino) at the end of summer here…Dino watches everything Jackson does 🤣🎈👍
Have fun as always
That’s so awesome!!! It’s just the usual, Rabies up to date and blood titer test up to date always. Vaccinations up to date also then between each country we get a vet check with flea and worming tablets, and a health check. We got his pet passport in Malta which they did there and then. The rabies vaccination needs to be done, then 1 month later the blood test. They take about a month for the results as the blood is usually sent away. We get the 3yr rabies vaccinations.
Hey guys! Just jumping on the Sailing Sunday train and catching up on your episodes. You guys rock!
Hey guys! Thank you that’s awesome to hear 😊❤️
19:20 The smallest sailboat to sail around the world non stop solo was 20ft
Wow that’s awesome! We came across a rowing boat on our Atlantic crossing! 22ft rowing across the Atlantic, now that’s crazy!! Haha
@@SailingSunday Yep crazy lol
Good trip …Regards for Turkey.is your boat Oceanis 50?
Oh man, do I miss Turkey, we spent 7 months there ❤️ somewhere around videos #60 or #70 I think. We have a Oceanis 46, 2 cabin version.
Where abouts were you sailing from and to
Cape Verde to Martinique :)
What happened to the cat guys?
No external antenna for the Iridium Go??
We heard from many people who crossed the ocean in the past that it didnt really make any difference etc, so we saved the $$$... but it worked perfect for us without the external antenna!
What was that wall paper during the iridium GO bit hahahaha. Ryan do you have a undies pic of yourself on your phone hahahaha pissa.
I'm assuming it's not yours but the misses
Haha, it’s so funny you noticed. I always randomly change Brittnis wallpaper to stupid stuff just because I’m an idiot and that was one of those times… but now the jokes on me this time lol 😂
@@SailingSunday Hahahaha classic
Do you have any exorcise workout together or alone that you try to do each day to keep your bodies in somewhat good shape? Stay groovy and stay safe.
Actually no, we put on a lot of weight lol!!! Having Jackson keeps us busy with walks, hikes then we always swim in the summer. Having 2 weeks to cross the ocean was actually kind of relaxing and were excited to just sit down for 2 weeks to take a break!
need to sail in a cat. Much more comfortable.
If the flying fish are dead use them as fishing bait. It kills us that so many through them in the water with no hook.
