It's almost comical how out of touch with the market they are. It's like a buffet wondering why no one is eating there when the main ingredient in all their food is actual shit.
Back when Xdefiant came out I considered playing it, but thought "this isn't gonna last a year." People could tell it was a sinking ship before it even left the port
Them, Sony and other companies who do this, really should reconsider continuing to push obligatory account creation for their launchers on people who are buying their games through Steam (and already have an account there). Unfortunately, Sony's recent refusal to do so, even when it meant preventing gamers from 100+ countries access to their game, is a clear sign they are making a lot of money selling user info to data brokers.
@@Spuzle2 you haven't checked their recently released games, have you? Because they walked it back in a single case where they wanted to add the requirement post release but since then their newly released games do have a PSN login requirement.
I’ve been cursing Ubi since the fk fest of crap with The Division and Division 2. I haven’t given them a penny since then and am pleased to sit and watch them and their incompetence burn 🔥 ❤
Reason why Ubisoft hasnt laid off more people is that French labor laws are worlds tightest. They propably cant. (Also reason why young unemployment is Sky high companies dont dare to recruit)
It truly is like watching the final throes of something fatally wounded, just thrashing about with a failure of a new game here and a closure of a studio there.

Why are there still people voluntarily giving Ubisoft their money? Must be Stockholm Syndrome at this point 😂
You are wrong about their Star Wars release. Its failure has little to do with how long they had to work on it. This issue lies solely with the decisions made and the people working on it. Period.
they have been the worst for years now, pure slop overly aggressively monetised, i wish i'd boycotted them sooner and saved myself a fair bit of cash on games i never finished
It was only like, 2 months ago, they swore the game would still be supported after season 4..... they're not even launching a season 4 before shutting it down. Absolute clown show.
xDefiant is the definition of a 'fine' game. It's aggressively mediocre - like if you asked AI to replicate CoD and then added expensive generic microtransactions. I had some fun with it but with the bad netcode and other rampant issues they didnt address, how they thought it would succeed is incredible.
none of the people who made the games you love are working or have any saying in new games being made. this is true for all companies, even and specially for nintendo
The fact that ubi said that star wars outlaw will be on the same level of quality of detail as RDR2 was sus as soon as i heard that. Those are some mighty big shoes to fill, and as we know now they where simply lying.
Ubisoft was so worried about the litigation for the shutdown of that racing game they decided to tank their entire company. "That's a bold strategy Cotton, let's see it if pays off."
marketing for this was non existent, only trailer I remember seeing looked like an arena shooter with neon paint splashed around like splatoon and tom clansy's name was still on the title.
If you go by the phrase "you are as good as your last performance" (or videogame)... (to) Ubisoft: "When was the last time you made a good game?" I mean, it's gotten to the point gamers(tm) of this generation have gotten *used* to not owning any of their games. Compared to the likes of Fortnite to Elden Ring...
I will say Kira, allowing other platforms to undercut steam while sold in steam wont bring more money to devs and reduce the pressure on consumers. Say 70 dolars price, 20 to steam, 35 to publisher, 15 to devs. With less "steam tax" you get 70 dolars price, 10 dolars to the platform, 42 to the publisher and 19 to the devs.
Nice timing, Kira! Steam has just been accused of holding a monopoly in PC games' sales market in the US, and the judge allowed it (the lawsuit) to proceed as a class action. So they are being forced to change their current business model, and to do it quickly, or potentially face paying billions of $$$ in fines if they lose (which, according to your own words, is a possibility). Hopefully Valve will be proactive, come up with and propose some satisfactory solution(s) for everyone (publishers, developers and themselves), thus preventing this lawsuit from going any further. If they don't, I'm afraid it won't end well for Valve.
Steam remains a dominant force in terms of market share due to the fact that its interface is very good, and does a lot of consumer friendly practices. The reason they can't compete is not because it's a Monopoly, but the other stores just suck.
@@AnBlackhall I know Steam is really good, but watch the video from channel Bellular News "The Judge Ruled Against Valve." I am just relaying the information that they are open to a class action lawsuit.
Not even close to being as bad as Activision, which is saying something.

Unfortunately it's not entirely true that the consumer always wins from competition. I definitely don't feel like that was the case woth streaming services at least 😅 Yeah, some competition would be good, unfortunately the Epic launcher still sucks. Last time I checked they still had no game reviews in the store, and the friend system was broken. It's one thing to not launch with those features, but after several years they need to get it together.
I loved Child of Light/Valiant Hearts and really did like the first Watchdogs even if it felt unfinished. Most of the things they've pushed out since then get just ok public reviews so I avoid them. Seeing people describe Watchdogs as following the ubisoft open world formula made me cautious of the open world games they have since while I enjoyed it for one game I don't like repetition that much.
Honestly, imo Star Wars was that bad purely as it didn't have the grit or gameplay for an Outlaw game (such as Cyberpunk); the core gameplay loop looked focused on "stealth" mechanics akin to Assassin's Creed and it was Ubisofts own showcase that put me off it. I understand this may not have been purely their decision and Disney had a hand in making it too PG for the setting but they agreed to it.
I think they are playing long game and waiting for current gamer playerbase to die out in like 30-40-50 years, as sadly new generation accepts loot boxes, always online repetitive gameplay and microtransactions easy
AC: Origins was a brilliant game in terms of world-building, it was the apex of the AC series. They had it. It's the leadership's fault that they lost it.
I enjoy Ubisofts recent games. And by that I mean... I enjoyed Origins, Odyssey and Valhalla. And by that I mean, I give them a good 6/10, 5 being meh, 4 being ick. XD Really, Ubisoft should've just kept re-releasing black flag and people would be buying it for the fridge and forgiving them. (Cough, bethesda...) Triple A is a joke, and they're not even a very good joke. I do... look forward to future AC games... but I most certainly will not be buying them at launch. Because let's be honest, you're paying more for a game that isn't even guaranteed to work, let alone work well. Wait for their games to get nice and cheap, and ideally, run properly.
skull and bones has a good foundation in its movement and the ship combat is okay, i just found that it was devoid of activities to to, and whos idea was it to make it drug empire simulator and not about being a actual pirate... and they wonder why it tanked... and i did give it a fair go, granted i didnt pay for the game because i was gifted it as part of their creator program.
Say what you will about Hoyoverse/mihoyo but their little botw rip off exploration/open world rpg has warped my perception to such a degree that i actually cannot imagine myself playing a ubisoft-quality sandbox let alone *pay* for one

As the late great TB said - "buying a game at launch grants you the worst experience for the most money"
It's only outdone by preordering, which is the choice of madmen.
It's almost comical how out of touch with the market they are. It's like a buffet wondering why no one is eating there when the main ingredient in all their food is actual shit.
What’s buffet
All the dishes are marmite-based, even the drinks.
Sums it up pretty well 😂
At this rate, Ubisoft's constant slop, is indifferent from the endless/eventual death, of Adobe's Flash.
Back when Xdefiant came out I considered playing it, but thought "this isn't gonna last a year." People could tell it was a sinking ship before it even left the port
Thing was, you didn't have to invest anything to enjoy it. It was fun for a few months but I stopped playing in September
Those who bought that Outlaws for $100 had to be mad as hell when they saw it on sale for $5 on black friday. Hail Sithis!
You couldn't pay me $100 to play that slop.
xdefiant died because it asked me to sign into ubisoft connent

Why is EA the worst game company in America?
Because Ubisoft is in France!
No wonder Ubisoft gave up years ago lol
I'm still hold on from buying their games until they promise us that they won't pull their games off and remove their launcher from Steam.
Could have just said "Never will buy Ubisoft games".
Much shorter, but seriously they will likely go bankrupt before they do either of those.
It is morally acceptable to pirate ubisoft games
They will promise you and then break the promise. Literally happened with XDefiant.
Assassins Creed Shadows doesn't have a release date it's an execution date.
You are wrong about their Star Wars release. Its failure has little to do with how long they had to work on it. This issue lies solely with the decisions made and the people working on it. Period.
Friendo! Ubisoft and EA are companies I boycott.
Ubisoft has a mix of the best devs and the worst managers/executives I ever worked with.
All of their woes are self-inflicted
I'm really conflicted about this. I want ubisoft to make great games, but I'm British so I also want to see French people having a bad time.
lol
I'm not British, but this is relatable.
I laughed wayyyy too hard at this comment.
Mostly cause as a fellow Brit, I feel this in my soul too ^.^

When Ubisoft thought that "Tom Clancy" and "PvP arena battler" were a good combination they were destined for the trash heap.
marketing for this was non existent, only trailer I remember seeing looked like an arena shooter with neon paint splashed around like splatoon and tom clansy's name was still on the title.
I’ll be honest, I hadn’t even heard of X Defiant until very recently.

Ubisoft has latched on to every bad practice the Western Triple A market has implemented, I'm glad they're tanking.
I prioritize GOG over Steam and if it is on another launcher I have already I get it there to avoid the double launcher effect lol.

übelsoft.
Star Wars Outlaws didnt fail cause of the bugs, it failed caue it was an open world walking simulator
