The whole vogue thing is a very big theme in the comeback, there's a dance style called vogueing and a lot of elements from that can be found in the choreo
ASH I thought no one would talk about it. When I watched it, I thought of Tiffany’s song “Magnetic Moon” immediately. I’m wondering if it’s produced by the same people?
BEG and then AOA made is popular in Korea
Voguing and wacking are two different styles of dance
@@frasercook5823 I am not all that familiar with their discographies apart from listening to some of the title tracks every once in a while, which songs are you specifically talking about?
@@kuumih0 sorry, not all that familiar with either, I honestly based the waacking thing on another reaction
if this is the pre release.... then what’s the comeback gonna be like?? marty im scared
IKR!?
honestly i feel like everyone is gonna get their hopes really high and then chungha just exceeds our expectations, which i hope she will because i mean- her company is amazing
What
SAME
Janet?! Marty?! Who are you people?!
this grew on me big time
This song grew on me the moment I heard it, she’s such a queen
I was underwhelmed at first but its also been steadily growing on me with every listen
Same
neo at first I was like “eh this is okay” then I keep listening to it and now I’m in love
Exactly. 3-4th listen did it. This is a bop
"oops I turned on Roller Coaster, well that's never a bad thing"
LMAO such a mood
we are definitely witnessing a pop diva come into herself before our eyes. there are so many parallels to what madonna did w her background dancers and even showcasing vogueing and waacking into the dance! its so cool to see lgbt dance culture being brought into mainstream music in korea and internationally.
Perfectly said!
I'm in love with the concept, the choreography etc but what really gets me with this song is its pre-chorus and really long chorus. the build-up and the DROP... gosh it's just perfect
ITS SO LONG AND PERFECT
@@SUNSANDCATS THIS EXACTLY (please don't take out of context)
I don't like It because It's so yelly and long, yikes. I only like the drop, I hate constant repetitivness of Stay Tonight Jeeezuz
@@leo-ou7hw why would your comment be taken out of context ?
@@everythingsfinett3903 hmmm *tasteless*
Chung ha knows for sure that she has an amazing hands. Sounds weird but she really knows how to use her hands 😅
Her hands has always been part of her dance style. It's just so captivating, so elegant
I think cuz her genre is waacking so her hands just so flexable
@@phuonglinh6513 agree, she's the waacking queen
@@phuonglinh6513 i think its voguing rather than waacking tbh
Dao Khoa i think they just meant she was used to waacking thats why she’s so good with her hands but yeah shes clearly voguing here
pd, i really have to say this...
*THE NEW THUMBNAIL IS SO LIT*
Agreed
Came here just to comment this, the new thumbnail looks amazing
Agreed
Right now, my wig is doing a world tour, thanks to this song.
mines doing a space tour😌
chungha said we’re voguing this year with this single and that’s the energy we needed in 2020
honestly, chungha didn’t lie when she said that this is the most spectacular performance (?) she had done. the choreography is reaaaaally good. what i loved the most about it is chungha giving the spotlight to the dancers. it melts my heart uwu
I feel like since Stay Tonight is a pre-release track there's a good chance her future release will be a full length album, but fingers crossed
Seventeen Mamamoo she already announced that she’s going to release an album. they’re almost done with it. also chungha said herself that there might be another pre release single or more before the actual title track with the full length album. she also mentioned that her album includes different colors meaning that she has songs from different genres and concepts to show how broad her capabilities are.
That's not the title song?
@@cassie8844 No, it's just a pre-release single.
@@lilaclunateaparty She also recently signed with a US talent management firm that represents several entertainment heavyweights. They wouldn't have signed her if they didn't feel she had real potential to advance in Western markets. Unfortunately Coronavirus is going to make that more difficult for now as touring and overseas in person media will be impossible until there is a vaccine, but I get a feeling this is an album that is a first step towards being more than just a star in Korea and East Asia.
Kent Vesser she’s definitely about to be worldwide and I’m so here for it!!👏🏽🙌🏽
I don't think it's her best song but it's definitely her best video and choreography. And it's not even the title track!
Agree. The choreography is very detailed for a non-title track. Previous MV releases I could learn the dance but now I'm never gonna learn Stay Tonight it's so detailed 😭
Shes going to be the biggest artist out of Korea in the next few years. I mean internationally. Isn't she? Its her destiny (and talent+hardwork).
She deserves to be.
@@AngelaSealana 1000%!
She's a goddess, I know you want a more elaborate thought but that's all I can think about. Also the 2° part of the chorus (where chungha and the dancers are moving their hips back and forth) makes me think of Madonna. Maybe because of the vougeing too haha.
Matt S the dance and even some of the music is very inspired by vougeing. The vibe of the video gives me very LGTBQ-Madonna vibes also
ew she's disgusting and steals from desi and black culture 。what a culture vulture
@@diva3713 stay pressed luv xx
@@diva3713 no one is forcing you to watch her, if you don't like it just leave
@@Mateo271095 i'm watching this to check up on pd,idc about her anymore 。but i'm not gonna stand for that culture vulture 。
she went so hard and it was just a pre-release? I CAN'T HANDLE HER, she is killing me.
Lol she has a song called killing me now😭
She didn't come to play...SHE CAME TO GET THAT THRONE SHE DESERVES
Her team is amazing. Her CEO, the Dancers, her producer, composer, video editor, the people who make video sets, the director, her stylist, makeup artist, the choreographers, her vocal coach. AMAZING!!
11:40 “yeah looks like they put a lot of money on this, this hand.”
Yeah, they did. They put Chungha. That queen is esspensive
chungha looks absolutely stunning in every shot BUT CAN WE TALK ABOUT HOW GORGEOUS THE BACKUP DANCERS ARE? BOTH MALE AND FEMALE PRESENTING ARE SO BEAUTIFUL
im gay so i mainly noticed the masculine dancers, especially bottom right at 3:05... we stan chungha giving the gays what we want 🤤😩
Please call them dancers! Chungha said she wants to call them dancers instead of backup dancers which is cool
The song and the mv together give me tingles every time I watch it... I don’t really understand why so many people don’t like it but I guess we all have different ears
really? i can't stop watching her video on choom studio. the more I watch, the more i love it.
I think its not the regular kpop sound. Esp when the infamous beat drop
Diaa I agree! People aren’t used to this kind of arrangement. I think it’s cool though. Keeps you on your toes
that's a great depiction. It also gives me tingles every time I watch it. Hearing the song on its own just doesn't cut it, I HAVE to watch the video for the ultimate maximum pleasure.
Raven Llya I understand that completely. I’m a very visual person. The choreography, the way Chungha and the dancers move in the video along with the lights and the camera work just... elevates the song. The song itself was MADE for a choreography like that. It would be tragic if Chungha released the song as a b side without a video. Everything together makes a special sensory experience
i’ve heard some stuff about chungha’s comeback and apparently she’s putting out a single once a month and the 12th song will be revealed with the full album. so stay tonight actually will be a b-side along with 10 others she comes out with.
DISCLAIMER: i am not saying that this is true. i did not get this from a statement by her company or herself. i simply heard rumors about her comeback on instagram and shared what i found.
Thats crazy,,,, she is working real hard nonstop! I hope shes gonna stay healthy throughout all
Mai Siddiqi it gets me excited because it could be a visual album if she’s doing that. It would be ground breaking in the KPOP world because no one buy Beyoncé have done something like that. I’m excited either way
@@stephaniesantiago92 omg a visial album, pleaz let it be real
wait this reminds me of a group doing that too but idk which one
day6 i think i mean others did it probably too but idk bout them anyway i loved it when day6 did that bcs every month a new song is a blessing so i really hope thats the way chungha does it too
I agree that this never could've been the actual promoted title track but for a different reason ; she put out two choreography videos already and a third one is coming (if you ever wanna react on Patreon 👀), and yeah this just can't be promoted on music shows, it simply isn't imaginable :') maybe we'll get an awesome stage at the end of the year awards show tho!
EDIT: oh also the director of this MV is the same who directed Snapping MV that you liked too :) !
i agree with this, the performance video she's releasing were edited. the dancers were changing so this can't be shot in music shows unless its prerecorded
Rigendfilm ftw! I really like their music video directing and editing. So aesthetic and mesmerizing
There’s also going to be another pre release and then the comeback so she might promote those instead and leave this masterpiece for end of year award shows
John Louie Zate it’s edited for the effect. There is definitely a full choreography and you can even see the dancers switching out.
@@sammorales8152 yeah i was wondering if she'll promote the upcoming second pre-release or if she'll just promote the title track of the actual comeback!
The first name that popped in my mind when I heard the song was dua lipa. She's been recently using this kind of 80s dance sound that reminded me of this and I honestly admire chungha's team for catching the trend so fast
Luna Digioia completely agree!! I loved Dua Lipa’s future nostalgia album. I’ve been listening to break my heart, don’t start now and physical constantly and as soon as this was released i knew i was gonna like it because it reminded me of Dua Lipa’s current sound!
It really reminds me of Tiffany Young's 'Magnetic Moon' and 'Run For Your Life.'
I think this is the first time I've seen you speechless for pretty much the entire first watch through. I actually watched this video about 5 times in a row when it first came out and my jaw NEVER left the floor.
When PD said this reminded them of Tiffany Young I audibly gasped! It's exactly what I said in my reaction too! Honestly such a BOP! I'm already singing it and that breakdown! Chungha has been one of my favorite solo artists and I was anticipating PDs reaction to it! Thanks for giving a Queen some spotlight!
Jinn's Pandora
Don't open the gifts.
There must be
something in the gift.
This is what the bottle says
i like how the camera motions compliments her unique hand movements. a big part of chungha's choreography's specialty is how her hands move elaborately and a lot of the times the camera just follows them along. it's truly a masterpiece.
I'm a sucker for 80's inspired themes and songs. I adore Chungha. I am ready to die with this album
Love what you mentioned about the power of a rotating camera. Kim Lip's "Elipse" does the same where the video is relatively simple in it's dressing, but a lot of the energy comes from the camera's circular movement (and the edits). I don't think I noticed it until I started watching your channel.
I remember hearing 5 seconds 4 weeks ago and I had to search it .I first find chungha like .. and then really my queen didn't disappoint
Finally someone said it, I've been talking about how much this resembles to Tifanny's style and I'm happy that PD also got the same feeling💜💜
It is really one of the best sings I’ve heard and best from ChungHa in my humble opinion hshshshs this is so amazing
This is SUCH an amazing release, from the song itself, the MV, the performance, the visuals. EVERYTHING. This voguing concept fits chungha SO well and she CAME THROUGH. I’m honestly so impressed of how much she’s grown musically, and the team she has is really invested in her. I LOVE this so much and I’m loving Vincenzo as a producer, I’m so so satisfied by this! Thank you PD for reacting, your insights are always amazing, keep up the good work!
I loved loved this song and mv especially having vogueing in the choreography and men wearing lipstick and heels, I appreciate her for showing this to her audience. And what you said I agree this couldn't have been a title track but if she went off with this pre release i cant imagine what the title track is going to be like
This chung ha song sounds a bit English pop and I LIKE IT SO MUCH😍
Muhammad ezlan Chairul anwar yea like redvelvet’s bsixe i forgot if the title is look or view
@@ninni7917 kpop is evolving😁😁
I really love that she choreographed a part for her dancers to really shine 🥺 she really has such an amazing relationship with them
When Chungha came out with those bangs I really thought I was looking at Bom for a second.
What an MV.
Vogue is EXACTLY what I thought of, and NO one else has mentioned in.
A lot of things have been said about this video, and what I want to add is that those high notes absolutely killed me, I have been slayed every time I watched this mv, and that bass when the chorus hits is perfect!! overall I love it TT
...when the MV director is the same one from (G)i-dle's Oh My God, Chungha's Snapping & Taemin's Want
5:00 This part O_O save me
I'm usually very critic of electronic music, which is my preferred genre, but I can't believe how good this song actually is.
I feel like they're using the same trick they used in Snapping with bringing the teal into that white set, it was more gray there but similar effect!
This song is too good im worried I'll be too hyped and be disappointed
A vogue queen 👑 The duckwalk and hands and everything
from what you're told the music video is incredibly beautiful... yes Chungha is in it... beautiful is at the max setting
this song took me a couple of days to fall in love with. i think since the song takes a very long time to get to the chorus i found it exhausting but now i really love the feeling of when the chorus finally DOES hit. Chungha is a true performer.
The amazing thing is that the song isn’t title track! It's just a pre-released song. She will comeback in may collaboration with Zion.T
she came back and she DELIVERED!!
loved the song from the first listen. the pre chorus and the bridge are my favorite parts
MNH know how to make her shine. She always looks like a sophisticated dance princess but not over the top. Everything compliments her, I love it, it fits her capabilities and style so much. Her music too, the songs always fit her and make her voice stand out. I’m glad she’s releasing singles, it’s her first full album and I think a longer promotion for it is a good thing. She worked so hard for so long and deserves it.
You know how they advertise jewlery on displays with glamorous hands and glamorous lighting? All these rotation shots, the lighting, the hand she sits on, it's as if she's being displayed as a piece of jewlery.
hungha is the most beautifull women in the world like it's insane...just insane how breathtaking she is
Omg she's BoA for our generation and the next. The look, the sound. THE solo queen of Kpop. Change my mind.
I didn't knew previously that it had vogue inspirations, so when I was watching the MV I was like "wait, am I crazy or it has some vogue vibes?", knowing that it was the main theme made me love it even more
Well as for me, it reminds me of LADYGAGA and MADONA in her and i love it..
watching this definitely made me feel like chungha stood on me multiple times
this should lowkey have been a title track wf a mini album instead of a pre-release! its too amazing to be a prerelease song but chungha slayyeddd
PD, watching your reactions really made my abilities of judging and reacting much better, and im so happy I got the lighting thing in the beginning correctly because that was my thought the first time I saw it too!!
This video gives me Uhm Jung Hwa vibes (80’s to 90’s) I agree with him
Yeah, I learned who Uhm Jung Hwa is from the cover Sunmi did of Invitation back in 2009.
You vibing during the chorus is honestly a mood
I can tell this mv is one of the bests mvs I ever watched in my life
The one I've been patiently waiting for.
This song got me into CHUNG HA and back into kpop in 2020, it’s very close to my heart bc after the hype of kpop in 2018 I fell off of the love for the genre, but now I love it because of her. Phenomenal pre release
this woman ate this. she had this for breakfast, lunch and dinner. ugh I love this
This MV just OOZES sexiness and overall female smoothness, Chungha is just insanely talented, she literally never disappoints.
Hoping to get a GWSN reaction next PD, you would LOVE the album of it as well.
Chungha is a goddess. Period
This isn't a music video, it's a high fashion art piece. MNH deserves a ton of credit for giving Chungha this kind of promo material on top of her regular comeback, just to show off how versatile and distinctive she is.
Am I the only one who realized in the beginning of music video the box of Pandora has been opened? 3:38 PD, I feel you
I’m absolutely in love with this. I can’t believe this is just a pre-single because it’s a fucking bop and the music video is gorgeous.
Thank you for this breakdown you always make me look at the music video in ways I didn’t initially! They really did a BANG UP job from the production team, the editors, stylists, back up dancers - everything was amazing.
I’m absolutely livingggg for the male dancers in black lipstick and heels. It’s just a fucking vogue dream that I never want to wake up from.
Idk if anyone has mentioned this, but I just wanted to point out the opening shot when the male dancers were surrounding her it was supposed to represent a dress and I think that really fits the “vogue” culture so well
These are really my favourite kind of videos; I love how PD dissects/debunks the set of the MV's, it's honestly so fascinating to watch! Great video as always, PD! Keep it up
Wow! That's high praise comparing Chungha to Uhm Jung Hwa!
It was Sunmi's cover of Invitation back in 2009 that introduced me to Uhm Jung Hwa 🌟😍
chungha and taemin really are the best soloists in kpop right now like I no one does it like them and every performance I see of them I’m speechless afterwards
everything chungha does it’s FRIKIN tittle track material.
PERIODT
The more I listen to it the more I love it
Omg you literally describe this cheap but lit video like Valkyrie... My god, I’m hooked by same instruments... ONEUS and ChungHa literally slay
This is my fav track from Chungha I love it everything about it (the synthwave part that drops in the chorus it’s amazing)
As a dancer, you make this kid happy when you manage to point out that beautiful kick.
I'm a geek when it comes to technicalities and i geek hard when an artist does it right. A leg kick to most untrained eyes would be meh easy peasy i can do it but to get that angle, that line and that height she's kicking at, you have no idea how many times it will take to practice to get it down.
Even in standard classes, a lot of dancers would half-ass on a full on kick (myself included at times) cos it's a class and for many so long as it looks good on the gram, it passes.
But god imagine doing it right in one take. It's perfection.
I used to do martial arts so I appreciate kicks and high straight kicks. It’s just CHEF’S KISS
you can describe this song with just three letters. _Art_
Totally chungha gonna slay the best solo female and female dance performance of the year👍stan chungha 💓
I think the word/singer PD nim is trying to recall during the 90s Synthesizer Pop is the Mother of Vogue MADONNA. Like the Gays said, this song is for the Gays. Chungha is Amazing, making another impressive BOP after another and without a doubt the 4th generations Queen.
I love how you break down the video production. The powerful use of lighting seems to be something their team has been doing with Chungha for a few videos now. Gotta Go and Snapping were also videos, where it was the use of light and shadow, that created very impactful visuals.
Another interesting thing, more about song structure... there seems to be this very strong drive for control there. Gotta Go also had this feeling of not giving up things easily, how you didn't got for a simple Verse - Pre-Chorus - Chorus structure, but there was more there. We're so conditioned to anticipate that typical pattern, that when something breaks it, it creates tension, so when you finally get that release, it feels earned, more so than if the song would've carried on the normal pattern.
What makes all that even more interesting is, that Chungha works with a lot of different writers and producers, yet her singles and title tracks feel very much like her product, there is this distinctive style, that comes from so many different sources, yet it all feels cohesive as a discography. I'm just guessing, but something very interesting must be happening during recording, for so many different people to go into the same direction when producing and directing the songs, and so far, seems like Chungha herself is the only factor always present there.
IMO this is her best song, dance, styling, and MV lol. She captured my attention and wouldn't let it go. The same type of song structure in Kpop gets really repetitive so Stay Tonight was such a breath of fresh air.
Queen Chungha never disappoints 😤
Chungha always delivers, END OF !
Always waited for your detailed breakdown PD, esp for the queen chungha 🙌
Chungha is QUEEN!
One thing I also noticed was that the white on white part of the video where they used a teal to add the contrast but still make it look white on white was done in her Snapping music video too!
Every aspect of the song is amazing but what really impressed me were the artistic visuals and formations.💜
I was just passing by but when I listened to Stay Tonight I was DEAD
O.O I knew it. It is much like Tiffany!! Everytime I watch the MV, that's what only in my mind.
hell yeah i love this song and the dance videos are absolutely ethereal
Can we talk about the amazing male dancers rocking high heels?? They did such a great job! Leave it to chungha to add something unique to her dances
The new thumbnail looks amaazzziinnggg
YES IVE BEEN WAITING FOR YOUR REACTION
This is a pre release and ooo boi i cant wait till her single
The song and video are so pleasing. They definitely used creativity to make a simple yet captivating video. I'm interested to see what you think of the be original choreography version
