Amazing---your Tutorials make things so clear (including the gemstones! LOL!) Thank you--'tho it's been eight years after you completed this!Lynn in NYC
I have to tell you, you are amazing at tutorials. You have a wonderful enunciation, pace, your voice is pleasant. You are calm but not boring. The background music is perfect in style and in volume. You can tell it's there, but it's just barely audible, so that it's not overbearing and distracting. Oh, and of course, you have incredible talent! I love how in this tutorial, you actually had props to show how the light catches gemstones! Perfect visual!
I'm so glad you covered both faceted AND cabochon gems! I'm an absolute non-artist and the other videos I've seen were confusing to me. Your videos are always so clear and easy to understand. Thanks so much!
Thank you PETA. I'm learning so much! I only just found your website and UA-cam channel. What a difference your tutorials make to my colouring. Best way to deal with stress and so enjoyable.💐
Hi Peta, I have not watched this video yet but when I saw the thumbnail I feeaked out! I have been waiting for this tutorial since you showed us the dagdrommar book. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
Once again I sit here ... totally hypnotized by your gorgeous tutorial. I have just about finished my first picture in my Dagrommer book. THANK YOU!!! Now to put pencil to paper the Peta way!
Peta, I have recently become aware of adult coloring books. A little late to the game, but I live in Mexico where it is not a trend....yet! I just wanted to thank you for all the wonderful videos and tutorials that introduced me to this lovely pastime. Your expertise has encouraged me to try my hand and I might not have if it were not for your excellent demonstrations. Thank you so very much for sharing your considerable skills.
Hi Peta. Thank you so much for this informative tutorial. Your tutorials are always so helpful. I really improved my colouring skills befasse of you. If you have some time, a colouring tutorial of how to colour golden colours would be great.
FABULOUS AND AMAZING LOVE THIS INFORMATION Again thank you soooo much for your tips!!! I ordered the book daydreamer and I just received my polychromeos 120 crayons and bought your favorite uni-ball white it definitely is the whitest gell pen and love it. Thank you for your time again, I know it takes up a lot of your time and time with your hubby so thank him to!!! From Canada
This was such a help for me as I am relatively new to colouring and have many pics with gem stones that I need to colour so now I know how to approach it. Thank you so much, your videos are awesome and you explain everything so clearly, very much appreciated 💖
Such perfect timing! I've been eyeing the page in Dagdrommar with the kitty with the gemstones and wasn't sure how to go about coloring them. Your videos are such a blessing! Thank you!
Thank you so much of this great tutorial. I have watched so many different ones using regular pencils and inktense pencils. Honestly I was becoming very frustrated. You turning off your lights and shining a flashlight on the stones was so helpful. I understand the concept. Now it is practice time for me! Excellent tutorial.
Thank you for this lovely, clear and easy to follow tutorial. I just recently got my Dagrommer and have been looking forward to having a play and now I will be able to color my gemstones nicely following your advice!
Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful tutorials Peta. I learn so much from each one. Hope all is well with you. I do miss your videos. Blessings. 😊
Thanks again for another amazing tutorial. I have wanted to know how this is done and now I know. I know it will never be as good as yours but I do my best. Thanks again from Canada.
Thank you Peta again for wonderful video. Could you please do a tutorial about shadows? Shapes and colors of shadows. A lot of people are struggling with this and it would be great if you could make an easy to follow tutorial about this. I find your tutorials always so easy to follow, and it would be great if you could do this.
Thank you so much! I was one of those that requested this video, and you made my day. Just did the inktense color along yesterday. I love all your videos!
Paula thanks for your information about the color books from Amazon. I already have them on order and they will be shipped the day they become available so I will just wait. It's not as if I don't have anything else to color. It does cost more to get things from the U.K. but I still order from there merely because I can get things that we do not have here in the U S. They have a wider range of Derwent products than here as they have the company there. Amazon does a good job of providing art supplies but it is surprising what they sometimes don't have except through their contacts in the U.K. I look forward to receiving these books.
oh my gosh, perfect timing!! I'm just woking on an image that has multiple gemstones in it and it's the only part of the image I haven't colored yet :D As always, wonderful tutorial ^^
Thank you Peta! :) Perfect timing as I just have some gems to finish on a page I am doing in Lost Ocean. I am a nurse too (colouring is the best way to spend days off!), and have that same flashlight!
i really miss your videos! you are an icon/inspiration to me! the original pioneer of the adult coloring movement 😉 thanks so much for this video because I am working on a Hannah Karlzon book and have never colored gems before so I was a bit leary; however you have made it look effortless! hope you are well! many blessings! 😊💞
Thank you very much Peta. I enjoy your videos and I've learned so much from you. The colors you pick are always so amazing and this one is no exception. What colors did you use for the crown?
This is a great tutorial. I love the trick of using the white Prismacolor on the dark lines to give the gem a bit of glow. Prismacolor pencils are what I use. Now, I have to ask, do you have any tutorials on how to color a faceted gem when looking from the side, or is it the same method?
+Peta Hewitt Every time I use my white gel pen it starts out white then turns to whatever color is underneath it. I wonder what is wrong? I've used the Uniball & Sakura gellyroll. Maybe it's the colored pencils I use which are prismacolor. What can I do?
Hi Peta! Loved the tutorial. I was really needing it, since Dagdrommar and Sommarnat both have so many gems... Could you tell me the colors of the pencils that you used to color the crown? Thank you so much!
Thanks for your tutorial on Gemstones. Dagdromar is coming out from Amazon in June as "Daydreams". The other one I think is "Winter Dreams" is coming in June also. I have ordered both of them. Appreciate your walk through on them. They are lovely books. Did I hear you say you were a nurse? I am a retired nurse and really enjoying coloring as a hobby.
Another great tutorial. I love how you explain things and they reasons why you should not or should do something. Thank you once again. LoLs.....I did not fall asleep!
Hi Peta.....if I wanted a sapphire, would I just use darker hues of blues? Also...i have a request....(like you dont already have a gazillion) .....if you ever find yourself in need of a tutorial idea, i have a good one!!.....i have a picture in lost ocean that i would LOVE to do a thunderstorm background on but jist cant figure out how to do it. Its the image beside the skull that you did with the wood background. It is just screaming for a "bad weather" theme......i just cant figure out where to start.
+Michele Johnson-Utter My best advice if you want a specific coloured gem is to google it and find one with the colours you like and match them up with your pencils. :) I would choose darker, brighter more neutral toned blues The ultra marines in Polychromos are particularly cold icy ones, you may want a brighter one such as the phthalo blue for the main mid range colour. As for a stormy looking sky tutorial... interesting idea. I'll have to have a play with that.
Quick question. Did you do a tutorial of the beautiful crown itself? It is so pretty.....outside of the gem tutorial, of course. I simply love your videos.
That was a good tutorial. I'm not sure what I did or didn't do but the one I did along with you just doesn't look right. I don't have the white gel pen so I know that's different. I don't seem to know what I'm doing when I try to use a blending pencil. It always muddies the picture instead of making the colors pop.
Hi peta a lovely tutorial:-) thanks for showing this. One question thats slightly of topic, do you know any good paper for coloring with the polychromos? I got lots of stamps that i want to color with polychromos but I dont have any idea for a good paper? I am new to this with coloring. I have a few coloring books but I want to make some cards and now I am rambling.....
Jenny, I am not Peta, but I also stamp and do card making and I use the Polychromos, so if you would like my two cents I have found that the Neehah solar white (80 or 110lb.) does a lovely job. I use it because I like to use Copic markers with my stamps and have found it works best for blending them, but have also used it with my colored pencils and been very pleased. I hope this helps.
Black is your last, last, last layer, just before highlights, and you only use it in tiny bits, if don't have very dark brown or darker Blues\purples eds\greens. If your black is turning things to mud, it means what you have is more of a very dark brown, because pure black should make things grayish, not muddy.
+Miranda Van Grinsven I can. I'll add that to the list of videos. In the mean time check around UA-cam, I have seen a couple videos for this but I'm afraid i haven't kept a record of them.
+MegaAnezia I'm afraid I don't know. My in-laws gave it to me for a birthday present some years ago. It came in a gorgeous stained wooden case that looks just as pretty as the bottle itself.
Amazing---your Tutorials make things so clear (including the gemstones! LOL!) Thank you--'tho it's been eight years after you completed this!Lynn in NYC

Whenever I want to learn how to color something well, I come straight to your channel. Thanks so much! Your videos are priceless!
Peta! Thank you so much for this video. Finally, I'm not confused how to color gemstones... which I've been trying to accomplish for YEARS! tyfs
Thank you Peta i have looked for a tutorial aout gem stones in a long time. Love you

I came here to learn how to color gemstones, but Peta's voice (and watching her color) was so relaxing, I took a nap instead! Love your videos. :)
LOL! Thank you. :)
Once again I sit here ... totally hypnotized by your gorgeous tutorial. I have just about finished my first picture in my Dagrommer book. THANK YOU!!! Now to put pencil to paper the Peta way!
Thank you! I really learned something. Watching you color is really therapeutic.

You made this look so easy. If I can do even half as good on mine, I'll consider it an accomplishment. I could watch and listen to you all day.
sweetnightingale1973 i agree! she has such a calming voice doesn't she?
Thanks again for another amazing tutorial. I have wanted to know how this is done and now I know.

Thank you so much! I was one of those that requested this video, and you made my day. Just did the inktense color along yesterday. I love all your videos!

Fantastic. Thanks so much!
Fantastic tutorial. Thanx for sharing.
Thank you so much PETA that was so helpful and informative x
Awesome video. Thanks for sharing.
Very helpful.
Tfs & take care 🌹
Love your tutorials!! Do the uniball white pens work better then the Gelly Roll pens? I find the sakura one slides off the colored imaged:( Thanks
Thank you, great tutorial.
I always learn so much from your videos! Thank you for sharing your knowledge. FYI, an unfaceted gemstone is called a cabachon. :)
Quick question. Did you do a tutorial of the beautiful crown itself? It is so pretty.....outside of the gem tutorial, of course. I simply love your videos.
No, I'm sorry, Delores. I coloured the rest of the crown off camera using Micador ColouRush pencils.
Thank you, very helpful
You can also use a Sacura Star Rust pen .Thank you ,ouy're fantastic !!
+Elizabeth de Roock I've not heard of them. I'm going to go look them up.
She means the Sakura-jelly roll-star dust pens.
Thanks for this!
That was a good tutorial. I'm not sure what I did or didn't do but the one I did along with you just doesn't look right. I don't have the white gel pen so I know that's different. I don't seem to know what I'm doing when I try to use a blending pencil. It always muddies the picture instead of making the colors pop.
That perfume bottle is amazing, I've never seen one quite like it.
Hi peta a lovely tutorial:-) thanks for showing this. One question thats slightly of topic, do you know any good paper for coloring with the polychromos? does the uni ball pen handle differently than the sakura?
wauw peta this is so beautiful 😍 I have a question, can you draw a waterdrop on a leaf in anchented forrest?
+Miranda Van Grinsven I can. I'll add that to the list of videos. In the mean time check around UA-cam, I have seen a couple videos for this but I'm afraid i haven't kept a record of them.
Miranda Van Grinsven chris cheng has a video on waterdrops on leaves
thank you so much for posting this! I think I asked this question. :-)
+Dee Dee I think you were one of them. You're welcome. :)
+Peta Hewitt we're all learning so much from you!
Look lovely 🥰 xx ❤😊x
I loooove crystal perfume bottle, please, where I can buy that?
she always seems to have the prettiest containers for things
+MegaAnezia I'm afraid I don't know. My in-laws gave it to me for a birthday present some years ago. It came in a gorgeous stained wooden case that looks just as pretty as the bottle itself.
Love it :))
