@Canadian Prepper: regarding the sign you stated you liked the most @17:00...If you proclaimed on the sign that you are apart of a "Loyal Community": wouldn't that be inviting to the desperate individuals/groups of all types (those who in turn would be looting for that very reason: per being desperate given the apocalypse...in which I mean: being that's how they found the sign in the first place (that to a person salvaging (scavenging) what they could find: percieved regarding the sign maker as a "looter": as opposed to seeing said person as a potential asset like you stated earlier in the video: and then too: would have to also consider that the person ("looter") could be like someone like Rick Grimes: the very person who merely wanted to infiltrate into said community: to "loot" by "permission" once granted entrance (for remember the community with the nice houses: he stated: if they (the people who let him into their community) didn't comply to HIS demands: then he would take everything they had: thus no different from Negan)? So basically what I am asking, is how would you know that you weren't giving your Pearls (Provisions) to the supposed "Swine" (the labeled criminal "looter": to be able to tell the two types apart: those who were desperate but an asset verses those who were desperate but a lethal detriment)? Also given the apocalypse, wouldn't "Loyalty" be percieved as a fraudulent facade: a concept like Terminus? Lastly, how could such a sign deal with a community of detrimental (lethal) looters, who if denied inclusion, would start 'shootin'...and thus (as mentioned above) saw the sign as an invitation (as the sign unintentionally invited unwanted conflict) since I am sure if someone like Negan (or Rick) and his (their) crew saw such a sign, would want to pay his (their) "respects" and say "Hi" (as a challenger to the sign maker's claim to their supposed loyalty/community)?
Given the above statement/questions:
Is it then better not to have a sign, and just have someone on various shifts per Watch/Guard Duty (as an element of suprise)?
For thousands of years severed heads on spikes have been the internationally agreed upon signage for "please go away".

No, this signs is asinine. A stranger or danger human has to actually cross property line to be a trespasser and then cause damage or attack another human first before you can shoot him or her.

The biggest problem with the "House Looted meet at Aunt Mary's" sign is that it implies the property is vacant. If I think the property is vacant, then, what the hell, why NOT have a look around? It actually invites people in. I don't think you want to ever imply a vacant property.
The sign asking to meet at aunt Mary's might be the worst. It says nobody is home and the residence can be occupied with no resistance. I don't think it would dissuade potential looters, and people looking for shelter may be attracted to the sight and inadvertantly start a confrontation that would not have occured if they thought the site was occupied.
Years ago a man’s car was stolen; they announced over the radio that he didn’t care about his old car but please don’t hurt his pet rattlesnake that lives under the seat, they found the car abandon with both doors open .

You really nailed all the things that make a video great while teaching us all the things that make a SHTF sign great. Great job Prepper Sir, I have been recommending this great channel to those who I think would be interested.
In my city a whole neighborhood had to move in days because iminent ground colapse and a few people wrote interesting stuff in their walls, like "Broken dreams, we were happy in here", "Here lived a family" or "Victims of Braskem "(the mining company behind it). They aren't good for stfh but may keep people away during a local and temporary disaster.
Best sign you could have: no sign at all. Why? #1 a threatening sign is a dead giveaway that you have something worth protecting. #2 a sign works as a landmark and can give away your position that may have otherwise been missed. #3 with a sign you lose the element of surprise, which is very bad if you're trying to remain concealed and observe.
You're damn right, i think more subconscious "signs" are better, for instance a broken window, dead body idk
II agree, If I stumbled onto a property and they had corpses impaled on sticks in the front yard like Dracula's castle then I'd be running away as fast as I can

Probably the best sign would be something vague and yet menacing. Like, "I see you". "I'm watching" or "I'm not in the house" Placed so they come on it unexpectedly. (in place of a welcome mat?) The surprise, plus the creep factor, plus being informed you're under observation will get the message across. Especially if you really did have a weapon trained on the bad men.
"House looted, they took everything, meet at aunt Mary's"
Tells me nobody is home and it may be a good spot to set up camp for the night.
that was my first thought and yes I am going to check it out.
Also here a twist, it's also a good way to get an intruder to drop their guard. You can observe from a distance and determine if They may have something that YOU could use. They'll have to sleep at some point, and if they're alone or just 2-3 people, they might not worry about a watch rotation.
@@malk67 That is true, if the "intruder" has no training.

Of course, this only makes sense in open prairie type land
Good one!
I love this one, it let's them know there's a"Bad Mother" on these grounds.👀
I like this one but instead of 5 minutes I would say "...you have been in range for "x" yards/meters" going out to the outer fence line
@Loaded Libertarian And given that they're talking about a SHTF scenario, who exactly is going to arrest her and put her on trial when there's no society or law left?
@Loaded Libertarian Look up. Way up. That thing way up there. That's the point you missed.

Or worse yet. A preditor goes in to find information on where Aunt Mary lives.

The last sign shown about they took everything kids meet at Aunt Mary. I would worry that if someone needed shelter and saw that they might assume the house was empty and try to enter. My favorites were hungry. thirsty and sick please help and the community stands together one.
Eventhough this is older it still has messages. Even Glenn from Walking Dead says "Rule number 1 to scavenging, there's nothing left in this world that's not hidden", so no matter how long it's been or how down bad a place looke, someone may eventually try to get into your spot. Whether it be for shelter or loot.
Signs about 'Neighborhood banding together ' Implies there is always someone on guard duty and many people working as a group to defend .
Reminds me of the old farmer joke: Farmer was tired of the neighborhood kids stealing his watermelons so he put up a sign "No Trespassing, one of these melons is poisoned!" so the kids wrote on the bottom of the sign "now there are TWO melons poisoned!" Be cautious with signage, there are those who want you to prove the words written on the sign.

Long comment: back when this whole pandemic tp shortage started in 2020.I was on the east coast preparing to drive back west with the last of my things. I was 7 months pregnant and started to notice the food shortages. I would try to keep up on current events when I would find a hotel room for the night. When I called home my husband would update me on the shortages and lootings and shootings that were taking place. We live in small town USA. Seems some not so local people thought it would be a good idea to go door to door with a very big gun and scare grannies into giving them some food money or what ever they had. That kept up for sometime until our community started fighting back. If anyone is wondering where the crimes took place Reno nv and tahoe for one. A lady came up with one of the best signs yet . It basically says if you enter this property you will disappear! Cops will NOT be called , your parents will not be called . You will not be given a warning you will disappear! I've always been partial to... "Trespassers will be shot on sight, survivors will be shot again"😊
I work in retail, I can say for certain that the majority of people ignore most signage unless they're physically prohibited.
Because the law restrains people from using physical force against them. In a more lawless situation things will change.
@Paul Tilley yep, but still would get locked up for killing them or assaulting them within an inch of their life if done so. The hypothetical situation on topic is for when there are no more laws or authority
I too work in retail. Many but not all people are fucked up. They steal all kinds of shit and think they are entitled to all of it. They don't read anything on the packages and want to rip them open and handle the product and then grab the unopened one. They are belligerent, rude and abusive. If your responses to them hint at any intelligence, they get offended and want to get their revenge by escalating it to a manager - who has put up with all kinds of this crap before and wants to keep their employees - so the shithead gets the retail brushoff with a variety of platitudes... . Don't get me wrong - there are good people out there who read and think and put the effort into their purchases themselves. They are decent and restore my faith in human nature. But it is the ignorant ones who don't read written words and act with stupidity that really burn me out and make retail a drag. These are the ones who you would need to take defensive measures against in SHTF situations.
Because they're used to the coddling of the liberal modern world. They will fail their Darwin tests quickly in a true shtf scenario.

Great Video, thank you! I liked the one about "We are a community and watch each other's backs"! I'm going to get a bunch of short wave walkie-talkie's and distribute throughout the neighborhood. We have all been talking about the coming collapse but no one has really put a plan together and I would imagine a care package of walkie-talkies and a neighborhood dinner to explain how we are going to survive by working together is a great first start. If Danny at the beginning of the cul de sac/subdivision is under attack and calls on the neighborhood, we can quickly respond. Same for all others in the community and together we can last longer, hopefully by scrounging off the looters that are trying to hit our neighborhood, although I doubt they will be carrying much. Near my remote parcel I put those old fashioned plastic dolls up, hanging from tree branches. A little over a foot long, they are in rough shape, some have been 'hung,' some have their heads decapitated, others have their arms or legs missing, most the hair has been shorn off, in some spots just the arm or leg is hanging from a tree limb. Just my two cents.
Long term, signs are advertising "I'm home come and smoke me out" stealth mode and a strong tiered defensive posture from fortification, strong fallback positions, lure aggressor into booby trap positions as you retreat. Adapt and survive. Just an opinion.

“House looted/meet at aunt Mary’s” is the absolute worst sign and I don’t think there would ever be a good use for it. That would be actually be a draw IN for scavengers looking for something missed and it tells them they won’t be met with force as the place is abandoned.

Regarding the unexploded mines sign, it would be a great deal more effective if there were a couple of visible holes in the ground from a previous explosion.
The UXO minefield sign implies a 24/7 defense grid. Shot on sight signs might welcome night activity if the defenders cannot prove the use of FLIR or thermal. Plus those are actions done conscientiously versus a minefield which manages itself.
A sign stating UXO is better than stating minefield because it's more ambiguous. Thieves might eventually use equipment to overcome a minefield. UXO doesn't give them enough information to deliberate on how to surmount the obstacle. Militaries use specialized equipment on UXO versus minefields because UXO can have a much higher explosive yield than mines. Even if they don't understand UXO, the symbol for explosion and a skull and crossbones along with "death and/or dismemberment" is sufficient.
Which can be done with tannerite
And an old boot laying close by
And one morning you see a sign tacked to your front door, there are now 10 more unexploded mines out here.
That sign towards the end "We stand as a community" was my favorite as well, also the biohazard sign was very good. Some of them were badly thought out and almost dangerous, I'm glad you showed those too and highlighted what not to do as to not make yourself a target. Again, wonderful video and topic!👍🏼
Using a biological-hazard sign could also give credence,...
I liked that one too but my only problem with that one is that my closest neighbor is over 2 miles away....
Prayers work best. Why do we assume that every migrant can understand English?
Visual observations 24/7 your insight of scope, watch steps boom 💥
You are trying so hard and it is not unrecognized. I salute you sir.
"Rob my place 3 tried and 3 died" This was on a small country store when I was a kid, maybe late 70s or early 80s.
Dude. I love your simulated events. Thank you for making me feel like I'm not crazy for doing what I do.
Check out Lee Morisson his channel has plenty of that stuff and overall great self protection information
Your not, history proves this, and you are not alone
This was a great video CP
Thanks!
Best sign I saw on a barn: Beware of Bob
Really made ya think.
Im imagining Bob is a cute Llama.
Missed it but here's a sign: "come in, you look delicious" with a drawing of a camera
Nice one!
“Come on in…food storage is important…”
Thank you i enjoy this video , i love the signs about , Bubbie Traps , ill actually be doing that trapping to the property.
Right now I'm thinking about the beginning of the classic movie Swiss Family Robinson when the pirates where going to attack the wrecked ship and they flew a flag stating there was bubonic plague on board and warded them off albeit temporarily.
“Hungry and Sick” is one of the best lol
Misleading or tricking the Agressors...thank you so much for sharing a very important video.
“Fuck around and find out” would be my sign
Leave a body bag at the base of any sign with a tag that says “trespasser” and “please bring with you if entering this area”
'House looted... meet at Aunt Mary's' suggests an empty house - in other words, a safe place for travelers to stay. You're actually inviting people in.
You just became one of heroes, sir . good show of mind
Thank you Sir!
Good footage for a post apocolypse movie right there.
Agree...
Now that you mention it, Col. Kurtz in Apocalypse Now had a very terse nonverbal message for intruders -- but the necessary resources for this may not be available at the outset of most shtf situations . . .
Lots of spare auto parts. 😄
it's secretly a S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 advert..
Putting bloody sheets out of windows
No sign is the best sign. Signs only draw attention, especially is you're signaling you have firearms and ammo to steal.
Good point.
I still think a sign in a foreign language like Russian would be good. They won't know what a different alphabet says: "Loose snakes" or "Free coffee."
I sign that says "I'm armed" is better than "I'm weak". Maybe write the sign in blood, just to enforce your strength in the sign
man, this has the same production quality of a full length motion picture, wow!! nice work
Excellent information. 🎉
You loot we shoot tells people there is something to loot and they have to shoot first.
These signs will repell no real evil guy.
Keep it invisble ,put traps on the entire property and take down intruders without a warning.
yep. be the reaper
"While you're reading this, I'm deciding on head or chest" would be more effective if "I'm" is changed to "we're"...and if there were some bullet holes through a target on the sign...and the sign was a body target...
punk kids were jumping my fence to cut across from an apartment area to the convenience store. I hung the 24x36 firing range target with many heartzone shots' holes with a glow in the dark 'no trespassing' sign below it. I haven't heard or seen anymore signs of them jumping over anymore.
Snipers won't aim for your head...
Love the bullet holes idea...sends the message home
Don't Piss Ms Off
My backyard is full already!
.....make the bullet holes from the back of the sign!.... "OO" shotguns work well!!!....
There are few videos that deal with this topic. No matter how much one can prepare or store it can be taken away just as fast.
Someone's always watching and ready!
The "House looted, they took everything, kids, meet at Aunt Mary's love you" sign also implies that whoever wrote the sign isn't there anymore. As they went to Aunt Mary's. So might be an invitation instead of a deterrent. Just my thoughts on that one sign.
It also tells me they have kids.
Or--- If I'm not here, meet at --- Be careful of new booby traps at grid 2, 6 and 7 and the snake
Agree, as a looter who is just looking for supplies left behind I now think someone is not there. I see this sign as an invitation.
Yep, plus, you're advertising free housing. Someone might decide to move in and settle down. Now you have another problem.
I am knitting with my crafting supplies as I watch this. And yes I really love cats. 😸
Regarding projectile weapons in such a dystopic situation, I suppose that .22 RF, slingshot, compressed gas, archery & perhaps black powder guns could have advantages after CF cartridge ammo runs out.
Thank you
