Good question! The reason is that the Hamas use pieces of pipes meant to build rockets instead of water infrastructure for the citizens of Gaza. Pipe pieces which we, Israel supplied for them, mind you. I hope it helps! Love from Israel!

About the question at around 10:46. At the time everything was shut down even where I live. I live in a green area meaning it's relatively safe, there aren't many alarms here. Yet, since this nightmare started, for about a month and a half we had online school like in the COVID-19 days, the school day was only 4 hours and we mainly volunteered and tried to help as much as we could. I'm truly lucky to be living far from where the horrors of October 7th happened.
I remember that Saturday morning vividly. My parents were up north on vacation, which was the first time they had one since I was born (I'm the first born out of 5 kids). At 6:33AM I was woken up by my little brother who was screaming at me that there's a rocket alarm and we must run to the shelter. We left the shelter after 10 minutes and turned on the news. The reporter was talking about where there were alarms but he kept looking at his phone and looked very worried. I remember my aunt, who was with us, saying she felt like something was going on far worse than just rockets. Throughout the day we slowly realised what was really going on. We didn't leave the house the entire day, and by evening my parents called saying they were on their way back home. My 3 youngest siblings were at our grandparents, who do not have a shelter, a safe room, or even a safe space in their house, in a town near Jerusalem. Sunday morning my dad and grandfather were called for duty. I didn't see my dad for a whole month and barely had any contact with him.
My little 5-year-old sister refuses to be left "alone" with no one in sight, she won't go to the bathroom alone, and she doesn't want to be in any room in the house alone.
And we're considered lucky, what we experienced wasn't even slightly as bad as what the people in the south went through and are still going through.

I went to Israel on a trip organized by my Temple in the summer of 1976. I lived on Kibbutz Urim and worked picking pears in the 'Matah'. I was there when the hostages were rescued from Entebbe, it was an amazing thing to see this great nation celebrating life! I didn't want to go back home after 2 months.
