The main difference between NZ & Oz is Australia is further down the path of going to hell in a hand basket. In some ways going to NZ for an Australian is like stepping back in time and I mean that in the best possible way. Back when numerous, (now long gone) local bakeries all competed to supply the best pies, pasties and sausage rolls to the area. But it doesn't end with pies.... Hold onto your culture NZ, don't let them sell you out, because they're going to try.

My regular bakery, although it's not the best pies I've ever had , is the best bakery I've ever been to. It's owned by an Asian couple, and they're always so nice and often give me free extras and always ask how my life has been. Yatala Pies on the goldcoast were my go to bro they done doggie bags which were 2 or 3 day old pies in a bag for free meant to be for dogs. We lived off those bad boys for a whole year straight pie sammys or pies on rice 😂
In my opinion, best pies in Sydney are from The Upper Crust in Collaroy. I live in the Blue Mountains now, and I get pies from Mountain High Pies in Wentworth Falls. Also, the Yellow Deli does the best chilli con carne and jalapeno bread.
Ivan's Pies in Braeside Melbourne/Vic if you ever come back, think you can even order them on line. They have like chilli cheese pies and stuff, you'd love it.
Come to Mackay brother Byrnes pie Mackay are pretty good and the one in pinnacle was well, no doubt all round Australia as well not gonna find the best in and round cities my boy 🙏🏽💪🏽
