You missed the weirdest. The mascot of Rhode Island School of Design is Scrotie the Scrotum. I kid you not. He attends sporting events. There are images of him online.

Our sport teams also correspond with our mascot. Our hockey team is the Nads, our basketball team is the Balls and our cheerleaders are the Jockstraps.The Jockstraps help support the Nads and Balls during the games.

Well gosh if you're going to mention things as ordinary as squirrels and ducks: Southern Illinois University Carbondale's mascot is the Saluki, a rare breed of hunting dog originally from ancient Egypt/Mesopotamia. Southern Illinois was known as Little Egypt during a famine in which people from the north of the state had to travel to the south of the state to buy its surplus of grain. The situation was very similar to a story from the bible where people traveled to Egypt for surplus grain during a famine. So we have a beautiful ancient Egyptian dog, one of the first breeds of dog, actually, as our mascot.

You've only considered american colleges. Universidad Pontificia Comillas in Madrid, Spain, has a TILE for a mascot.
Harvey Mudd College, in Claremont, CA, has a concrete block named Wally Wart.
(Several of the buildings on campus are decorated with a concrete relief tile which is glued to the underlying cement block. The students have called them Warts for as long as the college has been around)
Pretty sure he mentioned an Australian Collage...Mascot, the Kangaroo. I honestly dont see how thats an "odd mascot" being Australian myself. I mean...its an animal only native to Australia, how much more of a classical representation do you need?
Nezara Actually no. I live in Akron and it's in Ohio. obviously their aren't wild kangaroos in Ohio so yeah its a bit odd
fair to say. I couldnt find anything on the contrary. My only defence would be to say there could be a few different universities under the name of Akron.

I was beginning to worry when The UCSC banana slugs took so long to get too... But you did alright by me in the end by bringing back around to my local area's FIGHTING GEODUCKS! If you knew anything about The Evergreen State College, the mascot would likely be the most normal thing you'd come up with.
"Live free or die" is the state motto of New Hampshire, not Montana.

Hey John! if you want to look at a strange (unofficial) mascot, look up rhode island school of design's (RISD) mascot... His name is scrotie the scrotum and the team are called the Nads. I found this doing a college research paper and it still throws me off. Anyway, sorry to cause displeasure! Happy hunting on facts!!

Not a college and they don't exist anymore, but a really good one was a minor league hockey team from Macon, GA called the Macon Whoopee. Their mascot was Willy the Whooping Crane. Classic. XD

Kept waiting to hear about the one college mascot I know of that's named after a classical element: The Prairie Fire of Knox College in Illinois.
Even more interesting is the fact that this mascot (which doesn't actually have a material form or costume associated with it) came about after the previous mascot was ousted because it turns out that using a derogatory name for local people (i.e. like the former mascot did) was a bad idea.....

I go to Muhlenberg College, and our mascot was originally the Cardinals, so our colors are red and silver, but the local newspaper kept referring to us as the Mules because of the name, so it was changed.
These are amazing. xD The mascot for the high school I went to is a rocket.
A few years ago, the Ramblin Wreck from Georgia Tech was parked outside the stadium and received a . . . parking ticket!!! Yep. The first and only parking ticket ever issued to their mascot. And every year at home coming, GA Tech has a Rambing Wreck parade with all sorts of conveyance contraptions designed by students. There was even a hover craft many years ago that did great until it got to a hill. It couldn't go up the hill because it kept bumping into the hill.
Okay seriously though look up a picture of UNCSA's fighting pickle...so fabulous.

My high school's mascot was ice. Yep... Ice... There was a giant mural on the wall of our gym and it said, "Home of the Ice"

My high school's mascot is a clock. The electric clock was invented here, but nothing else has ever happened in this town aside from a chemical dump in the 80s. But yeah, it's this alarm clock with a face and, like, flames coming out.
UPDATE: MY FRIEND IS NOW OUR SCHOOL MASCOT. THIS HAS LED TO CONVERSATIONS ABOUT FURRIES WITH MY HISTORY TEACHER.

Seeing the school president lecture us about being a serious academic institution after he gleefully sings that is one of the most entertaining things about my school.

I used to coach at a school where the mascot was a fighting sea horse. Talk about a lack of intimidation!

Aww I was half expecting my own college to pop up at any point in that list. I attend a school called Friends University. Its a private Quaker school. We're now called the falcon (I believe) but we used to be called the Quackers, and our mascot was a duck. But that's only half of it. Before that, we were nicknamed the "Fighting Quakers" which if you know what a quaker is.. is hilarious.
My English teacher was the Syracuse orange mascot :) he is quite proud of it

No mention of the Nebraska Cornhuskers?? 1) Nebraska is crazy about their Huskers team because we have no pro team and no other competing college team and 2) We were almost the Bugeaters and Mankilling Mastadons 3) We have two official maskotts: Herbie Husker - the embodiment of the midwest stereotype and Lil' Red - overalls and sideways cap 4) _Huskers_

Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, TN used to have the fighting parsons as a mascot. This was eventually changed to the Eagles, presumably out of embarrassment.
The Community College I attended in Dallas had the Thunder Ducks as their mascot.
That's because it's the most badass mascot ever!

Lehigh University used to be the engineers. They randomly changed it to a train a while back, and then they decided that neither of those were terrifying enough, so they changed it to a Mountain Hawk, which doesn't actually exist. I love this video, but I think they deserve a mention.
Though I'm not from Louisiana, I can attest to the fact that an *actual* Raging Cajun *is* something to fear when provoked. My uncle barely escaped a prison sentence more than once, so the stories go.
In Canada one of our oldest schools is St Francis Xavier University and one of its old mascots was a giant letter X named X-cellent Ernie. Now they have a super hero named Captain X.

I feel a major opportunity was missed by not pointing out that the Oregon Ducks mascot is actually Donald Duck, the only college mascot that is a Disney character.. We also get to use Huey Dewey and Louie ;)
They definitely should have included Pomona College's sagehens. They used to be the huns, but after WWI and WWII, huns were derogatory, so they became the hens. The sagehen is a bird that sticks its head in the ground when it feel threatened.
I attended ULofL in 2001,the year they switched to the pepper. Before when the college was known as USL they were the bulldogs. The Raging Cajun comes from a coach who would get so upset on the sidelines the announcers would go "There goes that raging cajun again.
I went to McDaniel College in MD and our mascot is the Green Terror. The name was the Warriors for a long time, but during one football game a guy from the opposing team described the team coming down the hill looking "like a bunch of Green Terrors". No one knows exactly what a Green Terror looks like but the guy who runs around at the games looks like a green mutated wolf with red eyes.
Let's not forget that Vanderbilt has the Commodores because that is what Cornelius Vanderbilt called himself (and as my tour guide said, "Nobody questioned him because he was rich.").
Gettysburg College's mascot is a bullet. Gets a bit strange when sports teams wear shirts that say "nobody's bulletproof."
I enjoy imagining what would happen in two mascots fought. For example, in a battle between the buckeyes and the banana slugs, who would win?
Evergreen Geoducks are in my hometown! We call the kids that go there "Greeners" and they're all potheads. Yay Washington? Also you missed RPI - we're the "Engineers" but our mascot is a giant hockey puck named "Puckman."
What's weird about Mountaineers? The school is in the mountains. Mountaineers are pretty tough people . . . makes sense.
HEY JOHN. I am a SLUdent (aka a Saint Louis University student) which means that, in turn, I am a Billiken! A Billiken is a Buddha-like statue that was invented in 1908. It was good luck to receive and give a Billiken statue. If you need luck, you rub the Billiken and it's supposed to give you good luck. :)

I'm from St. Louis, and the Billiken is a mythical creature said to give good luck that was popular in the early 1900's. The only other area it has any popularity in today other than St. Louis is Japan.
I also have a Gorlok squeeze toy. :P
University of Ottawa are the GeeGees which I didn't even know what it was till my English grandmother gave me a lecture on the fact that it means the first horse out of the gate in a race... rivetting

My high school mascot is the Hilltopper. A guy just runs around in a morph suit with a cape. Like the Hilltoppers in the video, our school is also located on top of a hill.
