    Hey Jon… I just found your company recently. I’m the guy who had a mixup with the .25” risers… I’m pretty new to precision shooting, and I would love to see a “how to” on your dope cards. There’s a few things on them that I am unfamiliar with. Would you do a video of you creating a dope card from scratch? That would be super helpful

      Hey Kacey, thanks for the suggestion. This is a great idea. I'll need a few weeks but can certainly put something together!

    I suspect your gun will show a definite preference for Hornady Black. Seems most videos I watch with 6arc shoot a much tighter group with the 105gr black box ammo.

      I have heard this a bit as well. Kind of hard to swallow since I ordered in 1k 108s for this gun, but we'll give the 105s a try.

      Yes. My gun loves the factory 105s and I use the Hornady 105 BTHP match bullets for reloading also.

      @@rustynut1967 I had the gun out again this weekend and still at roughly 2MOA with the factory 108s. I'll look around and get some 105s on order.

      I don't know yet, still shooting factory ammo(the 108s), but I did manage to get 105 Barnes HPBT from Midway I'm leaning on CFE223 to start.

      @@rustynut1967 How it goes? I got 300 projectiles of 105gr Barnes..... Got CFE223, 8208XBR, Varget, BLC2...... I hear good things about CFE223.

    The clearance between the bolt face and the extractor claw is probably to tight. You can file the edges of the extractor claw to help. Take an used or even a new case and insert it on the bolt (with it removed) and see if it hangs up on the claw. You'll probably notice some gouges (teeth marks) on the rim of the used brass also if this is the case. I noticed a lot of brass chips on the bolt face which is also an indication.

      This is an interesting one. I'll have a look at this as well. Thanks!

    Not to be a pain, but one shooter measured the OAL of the Hornady Match and found them to vary quite a bit. I don't know if you reload, but if you do, it would be easy to put the cartridges in a bullet seating die and seat them to a consistent OAL and try another 100-yard grouping test.

    Yeah, the hornady ammo is good but it is extremely dirty. I use extreme weapons grease on my ARC and have experienced no problems shooting a one day match at 100 rounds. A two day match, yep, at least clean the bolt/bcg and inside of the upper.
    I'm really curious as to why the sd/es is so wide with your rifle. Maybe the temperature? I've noticed that the match ammo will speed up slightly and the sd/es will spread out the warmer the weather gets. The 105 black ammo will speed WAY up in hotter temps. If you handload for it don't waste your time with leverevolution powder. It's about as temp sensitive as it gets. I just loaded some 108's up using VV N540 powder. Hopefully that's more temp stable than leverevolution.

    • @sunandshadow_llc
      @sunandshadow_llc  2 роки тому

      I have heard about the temp sensitivity but haven’t put time into studying it yet. It was 85F when I chrono’ed these. Interested to hear your results.
      I was a little harsh in the vid or didn’t expand on why I was checking the ES/SD while the barrel is brand new; I wanted to see what velocity we started at and where it ends when the barrel is broken in. I’ll revisit on the next episode (should be at 250 rounds by then). Hopefully the velocity will stabilize and offer a better glimpse into the load’s consistency.

    I'm gonna follow what Scott Eisenbraun said, measure and seat if needed. I still have about 120 rounds of 108gr Match. So far, I cant find 6ARC brass, I did find 6.5 Grendel brass so it should be interesting. But yes, reloading is the way to go.

    Is there a chance the gas block fit and placement is off slightly?

    • @sunandshadow_llc
      @sunandshadow_llc  2 роки тому +1

      This is of course a possibility, although I don’t suspect it for two reasons:
      1) I gauged the block at .158” dia and the port at .096” before assembly so there’s good clearance
      2) the Proof barrel came cut with a single gas block dimple for port alignment, and the dimple/set screw is self-centering
      Next time I’m out this will be the primary focus; think carbine spring+H2 buffer will be next and then we’ll work some different buffer weights if necessary.

    I thought 6mm arc used standard ar mags.

    • @sunandshadow_llc
      @sunandshadow_llc  2 роки тому

      6ARC doesn’t fit well into a regular 5.56 mag; instead it uses magazines based on the 6.5 Grendel that have different lips and a more pronounced curve.

    Looks like you got a quality component built rifle groups are terrible. You should be getting a lot better groups you commented about weak ejection and you went for a heavier, buffer and buffer spring. I think you’re going the wrong way I have the same problem with an H2 buffer went for the lightest, one plain Carbine buffer and it ran flawlessly 18 inch proof, research, rifle links, gas system

    • @sunandshadow_llc
      @sunandshadow_llc  2 роки тому

      I haven't seen an 18" Proof barrel with rifle length gas system; mine and the ones I've seen are R+1. I ran through a huge number of spring/buffer/gas block combos with no setting that offered 100% reliability. The best settings I found ended up being carbine spring + H2 buffer, and both the fixed GB and adjustable GB gave similar results. About 1 in 10 rounds would present weak ejection.

      @@sunandshadow_llc barrels from Sanders Armory are 18” rifle length gas system they don’t sound glamorous like proof research I was a bit apprehensive, but after reading everything that goes into manufacturing and quality control. I gave them a try. I’m glad I did. I had weak ejection. Call them on the phone. They advise me to go with a plane carbine buffer, the lightest one they make after trying H1 H2 and H3 he was right change in the buffer made it run flawless, and the thing is so accurate never seen a group over three-quarter MOA
