Great video! I am a pretty nervous flyer in turbulence. I haven't yet made it to Wellington, mainly because I've heard that a calm landing is quite rare!
+Steph Hi Steph - I have flown in & out of Wellington many times even with gale force winds. These winds usually run parallel with the runway & the aircraft always lands/takes off into (facing) the wind direction. Because the aircraft is not being pushed sideways the plane just moves up & down just like being in a lift! I always have my seat belt on - tight when landing/take off & loose during flight. Give it a try! Mike - AirflowNZ.
During my internship in 2014 at Airbus in Hamburg/Germany I worked on the cabin of this A320, its funny to see the exact same plane in a video (I placed the life jackets under the seats for example ) :D
Looked like my landing yesterday at WLG, was strange because I heard cracking sounds coming from the walls whenever we hit forceful gales like you did in that video
Bryan, because it is located on one side of the Cook Straight, which separates the North and South Islands which is notorious for high winds and rough seas, thanks for comment, Mike - AirflowNZ
@@AirflowNZ thanks for the answer! But I was asking when, like which months is wellington notorious for having the worst turbulence...if you could answer that

Love how wellington still has the hobbit stuff and also nice view of the 777-200ER teal livery

Thanks for your interesting comment. The creaking sounds would be from the cabin fittings not the wings or fuselage! Mike - AirflowNZ
What an excellent video, I now know the seat number that I'll be picking when I fly an A320 next time

Jinja, no two flights are ever the same! Mike - AirflowNZ
Interesting how the ailerons were up during boarding, meaning the hydraulics were pressurised. The pilots must have had the elec pump on
