As Eid approaches, the price of chicken has skyrocketed, reaching 700 rupees per kilogram for meat and 450 rupees for live chickens in Karachi. The surge in prices has left many households wondering why this increase wasn’t curbed. Chicken, a staple in Pakistani cuisine, is not only essential for taste but also plays a crucial role in enhancing the quantity of dishes. In the midst of soaring inflation, where the cost of premium meat exceeds 800 rupees per kilogram, using chicken to enhance the volume of soups or gravies has proven to be a tried-and-tested remedy for many average households. Interestingly, in Pakistani kitchens, almost every recipe begins with onions, which are now priced between 220 to 250 rupees per kilogram. The rising onion costs have led to tears not only during chopping but also at the time of purchase, forcing consumers to shed emotional tears along with their hard-earned money. Across different provinces in Pakistan, onion rates vary. In Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, onions are currently the most expensive, priced at 250 to 260 rupees per kilogram. Similarly, in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the price ranges from 230 to 250 rupees. In Karachi, small onions are available for 230 rupees, while large onions cost 240 rupees per kilogram. In Lahore, Punjab, onion prices hover between 220 and 240 rupees. The question remains: How can we stop buying onions? A laborer from Peshawar, Ghulam Khan, reminisces about the days when a single onion was enough to accompany a day’s meal. However, now, even a mere 200 grams of onions can cost up to 40 to 50 rupees. The essential vegetable has become unaffordable for many, and the authorities’ negligence in controlling its price is a matter of concern. As the onion saga continues, Pakistan awaits the arrival of the new crop, expected within a month, which may bring some relief. Additionally, imported onions from Tajikistan and Iran are also available, priced approximately 20 rupees per kilogram less than local onions. Despite the challenges, onions remain an indispensable part of Pakistani households, adding flavor and emotion to every meal.

assalam o alaikum .... sara ka sara case goverment pr mat dalo chand ratt ko or eid k 3 din shopkeepers ny apni marzi ka rate laga kr becha hy . me khud chicken ka kam krta hu . for example chand rat ko 750 eid k first day 700 2nd day 730 or 3rd day 750 rupay rate tha inka . ab dukandar kehty hy k ham kya kry mandi tez thi farm ka rate tez tha . chand ratt ko mandi me zinda mal 470 rupy zinda bika jiska meat dukandar ko 632 ' eid waly din 460 zinda meat rate 621. 2nd day meat rate 615 or 3rd day bhi same tha ap difrence dekhlo khud hi . masla yeh hy k in ko poochny wala koi nahi . price control magistrate aata hy sala me 2 ya 3 bar inko chalan krta hy vo bhi in sy rishwat le kr chalan ko cancle kr deta hy. jesi awam vesy hukmaran. bhai jis ko moka milta hy voh khul kr krta hy.
