Gerry, so sorry, I hadn't heard about Larry. I was brought up listening to The Tinkers, and saw them many times, including concerts arranged by my Mum as Rochdale Labour Party fundraisers in the Seventies. I was then taught by you at Bishop Henshaws, but, by then education and I had become very reluctant bedfellows, and, as a pupil, I was a complete arsehole! However, I still love the music, and have always particularly liked "The Owl of Oldham" and "A Piecers Tale". Great to see you still at it. Today, I purchased a banjo, and the first tunes that I will try to learn will be Tinkers ones. Thanks for the music and some great nights out.
I grew up listening to the Tinkers! They were instrumental, amongst others, in teaching me about my heritage and they made me titter a great deal. I love the Annie Kenney song; we need to remember those that made a difference. Thank you lads, so sorry to hear about Larry. xx
Oh good grief. I remember these lads from Harry Boardman's club at the Crown and Anchor (though I never can remember which is Gerry and which is Larry!) As a roughyed mysen', though long since moved away, I was so pleased to find this. I recently tracked down a copy of Harry and Lesley's song book. More happy memories
I too remember these lads from as way back as the 60,s, as I am old enough, Maybe it's my befuddled memory, but I seem to remember that in the early days they had a regular spot at The Oldham Hotel at Rhodes Bank,
Fabulous
A unique and distinct sound in the folk world, these fellas! Keep going lads 👏

Wonderful!
Absolutely brilliant, reminds me of the folk club at the Oldham Hotel at Mumps every Sunday.

Gerry is in the video, Larry has sadly left us. x
So sad to hear about the death of LARRY. A friend of mine in the Highfield for many years.
Very sad to hear that news indeed! 😥
