Jack Benny was actually very well liked in real life Unlike his character on the radio and on television

Grape-nuts Flakes was the sponsor between Jello and Lucky Strike. Canada Dry Ginger Ale was his first sponsor.

The Lucky ads are prime examples of Hard Sell commercials.

Yeah...they really just hit you over the head with it. Not even a little bit clever or anything.

Nine days after this show, Harry Truman beat Dewey in a major upset-as the pundits saw it.

When I was 14 I smoked a Lucky Strike cig and got sick. Now I switched to Winton because, Winton tastes good like a cigerette should.

I usually listen to the commercials on old-time radio, but these Lucky Strike ones are really annoying. His previous sponsor (Jello-O?) was okay, though.

Same for me. The Jello ones were at least kind of clever when they worked them into the script somehow. LS would not let them do that, apparently, and those get REALLY annoying.
