Does it take talent? Sure a little. It mostly just takes having the right tools and patience to achieve this not skill.

Really nice butterfly! Beefy and badass! You'll need to add a latch at the butt of the handles to lock it both open and closed or it would be hazardous to manipulate. I collect balisongs and would live to add this. My favourite is from the Philippines with a blade made from a truck bearing. I can stab through a quarter. Also I'd recommend some method of licking the screws at the blade, without it the screws WILL loosen and fall out when manipulating which is why most, but not all, are held with pressed pins. I'd rather have the speed screws as the pins loosen in time and you have to use a punch and hammer to tighten them. This is a very very nice start!!
Not gonna lie, when you started making this gorgeous piece by whacking scrap metal over a broken hammer I was psyched to learn how to make something cool with tools on par with what I have in my garage. By the end when you revealed that you had precisely machined your own binding post screws, I actually laughed out loud at my initial dream of trying this.
That is one of the most beautiful knives of its kind that I have ever seen and the love of good craftsmanship shows in the care taken to make it. Thank you for sharing your creation with us.

Not gonna lie, when you started making this gorgeous piece by whacking scrap metal over a broken hammer I was psyched to learn how to make something cool with tools on par with what I have in my garage. By the end when you revealed that you had precisely machined your own binding post screws, I actually laughed out loud at my initial dream of trying this.
