I know this is an older video, but man. All the info you shared just made my day. Super in depth and very informative. Thanks for putting this together!
Thanks! Yeah if you’re looking to get a longer ratio then full 350z diff is the right way to go. I run a 4.6 with a stock SR which is why I kept the s14 r200 lol
yo. this is EXACTLY what I needed (provided S13 is the same) I've never wrenched on an S chassis before and we just blew both 240 axles yesterday and started looking at Z33 axle conversion. You've hit all the points I need to know before deciding to make the switch. THANK YOU!
Mans talks to the camera like we’re his homies hanging out with him in his garage giving him a hand and he’s just rambling on about all the information he stayed up on endless amounts of nights figuring out how to do this. Makes me feel good in some way somehow
Its really interesting how different parts are called different things even across english speaking countries. We dont call them axels here in the uk. We'd call that the diff and shafts. An axel would be on a truck and is live. I figure people know about bonnet/hood and boot/trunk but this is new to me :)
It is! We actually call truck live axles the same thing but we also use the term for shafts. It was originally called axle shafts here then over time it became just axles. Thanks for bringing that up, it’s pretty interesting lol
Thanks for the video. Can you explain how you blew the metal backing place from the axle? It was because you drove the car with the axle compressed? Looks like the the measurement for 350z axles from the back of the axle to the back of the hub has to 21" for driver side and 22.5 for passenger side. My car is not on the road yet but my axles are 1" compressed due to using the 350z to 240sx axle adapter. I bought this adapter a long time ago from maverick motorsports. The problem with them is that it increases the width an inch. So I'm wondering if the same thing will happen to my axles if I use the car as it is. Thanks!
Yeah unfortunately z33 axles are slightly longer than s-chassis axles and because of that, they compress more than they are allowed and the backing plate blows off. I haven’t looked into the adapter ones you mentioned but if it is in fact an adapter than unless you extend your lowers, it should also overly compress :(
@@AimlessJP I tried to extend the arms but there is so much that the coilover can go because the far you push it forward the more angle it sits. Good that I found your video so I can go with the villains route.
Villians, I sent them my cores and they converted them to accept the z33 axles. They do have an option to buy cores from them so you don’t have to send yours in but I don’t recommend it. That is what I did originally and they sent me the wrong cores and after they told me they didn’t have any cores in stock. To avoid a long wait and risking not getting the exact cores for your diff (because there are many different kinds) I recommend sending your own cores in. Hope this helps!

Thank you :)
Quality of this video is next level
Oh kuya 🥲
Great video i need to get a longer gear ratio that 4.0x is way too short. Thinking about swapping the full 350z diff & axles

Gained a new follower. Loved this style of video and how informative it was. Keep it up!

Question? Was wondering where you got the stubs from?
