Based on ingredients alone, definitely. In some cases the cost could be partially explained by the R&D that goes into formulation - you don't simply just slap ingredients together and end up with an effective, stable product with a nice user experience. Duping brands have a guideline from the ingredients list to work off, so they save R&D time because they aren't starting from zero. The Ordinary can be cheap because the ingredients aren't that expensive - and their ethos (at least in the beginning) was to give stripped back formulas focusing on a star ingredient. And we could see how this led to some product not having the best user experience - pilling when used with other products, sticky residue, etc. They didn't spend so much time refining the formulations. Many people are happy to deal with these issues due to the low price, but other people would prefer to pay more to get a product with more cosmetic elegance. But some companies are definitely phoning it in and increasing the price because they can.
Just because some ingredients are the same, does not mean they are of the same quality. The best example I can think of is basic white petrolatum: store brands (Equate, CVS, Dollar Tree, etc.) are inferior to the higher quality of Vaseline.
I am on team no fragrance and you’re right It is a challenge at times to find fragrance free products but I believe they’re getting better at it. More brands I’ve noticed are not adding fragrance to their skincare.

Doc your channel has helped spread the word about the value of fragrance free skincare. It's not nearly as difficult to find FF skincare as it was even 4 or 5 yrs ago ❤
Whatever Doc Dray used last night and this morning has given her a nice facial glow and a plumper look on her cheeks. Does anyone else notice this today?
I watched another person try some of these products. She didn’t like a number of them, including the lip mask, and said a lot of them are not bad products but they aren’t dupes. I’m curious about the Kiels moisturizer dupe-it’s pleasant to use, but it’s expensive for a simple moisturizer.
Thank you for showing us what is at Walgreens. I never go there, but now I will, to buy the dupe BumBum cream ( which is too expensive now for me to continue buying).
@@mribabyTrader Joe’s daily sunscreen is a great dupe of it. I don’t know if that is the dupe this commenter’s post is referring to, but I have tried That and the expensive Super Goop and they are the same. It’s under $10!
Yes, it looks very similar, that's what caught my eye in my store. I've never tried the Supergoop version, but the Walgreens version is SO *HIGHLY* FRAGRANCED that just applying a drop to the back of my hand [as a patch test] made my eyes water, and it was impossible to wash off! I spent at least five minutes using every cleanser in my home - including dish soap - trying to remove the scent from my hand. It was horrible.
I always like a good dupe. Thanks for the heads up about these Walgreens ones. Happy Friday, Dr Dray! I hope you, your sweet momma and little Tybee have a wonderful weekend! 💗

Thanks Dr. Dray. Always love dupes. I tried Walgreens dupe for Panoxils benzoyl peroxide. I had to throw it away as the smell/ fragrance was terrible. I will stick with Panoxil.
You can return Walgreen’s products if you don’t like them. I used to work there, just show your receipt or they can look it by your phone number if you entered it. No need to lose money by tossing the product.

Yes to more dose-response curves for niacinamide! I strongly suspect its inclusion at high percentages is driving a lot of the sensitization people are experiencing.
There's a Hydro Boost Water Gel dupe by Equate to for $12 but it's terrible, it's got fragrance and it started burning my entire face as soon as i was aplying it, threw down the drain that same night but kept the jar to recycle
I started using Revolution products. (They were right next to the walgreens serums at the beginning) I'm trying their vitamin c every morning. I'm trying their glycolic acid toner on my non-tretenoin nights and then their hyaluronic acid serum also on my non-tret nights. I do use walgreens version of cerave's night cream on my tret nights. I love and swear by The Ordinary's Multi peptide plus Copper peptides serum. When my face had fallen after losing 80lb. , this helped lift my jowels! I haven't stopped using it!Hope that helps💗
I swear by the Laneige lip mask. I’ve probably gone through 10 containers of it. I really don’t think the fragrance is strong either. I recommend this to everyone. I always look forward to using it.
The Lanaige and Sigma lip masks are my least favorite lip masks. NuLips RX, nurse jamie, is my must have. It lasts forever and no scent. ❤ Hapoy weekend

In 2016 I was working for Clinique and they launched a stable vitamin c serum that you break open and every day there is a powder pack that you mix with it and apply to your face. That vitamin c serum is only stable for a few days. How is that different than other vitamin c? I really want to understand. Clinique also has the .0 line that has no alcohol in it. Doesn’t that just make everything dry faster? Now that I don’t work there anymore, I really want to understand better. Thank you!
I bought and tried the Kiehl’s one. It has less squalane the original and definitely feels a lot less moisturizing too. I had to put two layers on and my skin still felt dry.
