I've been wanting to buy a Stylophone for years and I still haven't. They look fun, though, and this was probably the most thorough demo I've watched. Great sounds with the Multistomp added at the end! If you don't mind, what hardware and software are you using to film these videos? I'd like to film a couple like this but I'm not sure how. Camtasia?
Thanks a lot. I'm glad you found the vid useful. The Stylophone is definitely worth picking up... Since it's so cheap and since it's controlled with a stylus, it kinda makes you play differently from normal keyboard synths. I use a Fuji Xt3 and Panasonic S5ii to record my vids (sometimes a C920 webcam when I'm lazy or just livestreaming). Then I edit it in Adobe Premiere. Though if you want something free and super powerful, so that you can grow with it. Then download Davinci Resolve.
This is such a fun little device to play around with and really my introduction to hardware synths. Bought one about a year or so ago, really fun incorporating some of the noises and effects it can make into some of my own music. Are you planning on using this within your lofi ambient sets? Great video ✨
It's a great way into hardware synth. Wish I'd got it years ago. Yeah, i might integrate it into my LoFi ambient sets. But mostly i was gonna use it to make songs and for fx noises on my 9 Odd sounds video series.
Hey, I was thinking about buying a Stylophone but I don't have any knowledge in sound and music, which one would you recommend for a beginner ? The S-1 or the Gen X-1 ?
I wouldn't recommend a beginner to buy hardware. I'd say go for free software like VCVRack. Which is a great way to get into modular synthesis. Or Reaper and free VSTs like Helm
@@karlc9773 aha! I had no idea there were tabs.... then again, I've not really been interested in doing covers on the Stylophone. But kinda wild that there are lots of people doing that
I'm wondering same thing. It's before the multistomp, hard to understand what you said, but it's labeled "daytripper". Great sound ideas.@@MartinYamMoller
But nobody seem to be bothered by the very crappy intonation of this instrument. It's too much out of tune for a professional use. Too bad, cause it can produce some nice sounds.
@MonsieurC64 doesn't matter the model. They're built by the same company and ALL of their products sound great. You should stop being an arrogant prick... but you can't cut you're French.
Ok guys... Easy now.... It's just a 100usd synth. So, yeah, it's not gonna be played in symphonies... and yet via Bowie, it's been used on some of the greatest recordings ever made. Only the Sith deal in absolutes! Right?
@@MartinYamMoller it does, yeah! I found that the NTS-1 (especially the Cathedral reverb by hammondeggs) and the Gen X-1 are a perfect team if you wanna make lofi ambient stuff
Mine is staticy as hell can’t record anything without hearing a huge buzzing noise is this normal? I know it’s not my cord bc when I plug in my stylophone beat it records clean

Hi, nobody mentions you can't easily play tabs on the gen x-1 as the numbers are different kids is 1 2 3.5 5 6.5 7.5 6.5 5 3.5 2 ?

I just can't stand arrogant comments made about art, ESPECIALLY from the French.
Too bad you can't get a PAIA Gnome kit anymore. I had one of those in the 1970s
Just bought one and cannot wait to get into all the sounds. Amazing little device.

Nah, that doesn't sound normal. Might be a faulty unit
It sounds good and looked fun, but does it have a sequencer or recorder or anyway to save your patches?
Nope... Nothing of the sort. Best to just record the audio
nice video, thank you
That was brilliant, thank you Martin.
Glad you liked it
