While going to school at Maharishi International University getting my PHD in Vedic Science professor Fred Travis taught me that sitting up activates the parasympathetic nervous system making it easier for bliss to fill the physiology, and activates the restful wakefulness. Lying down activates the sympathetic nervous system making us not able to reach and maintain meditation. As far as falling asleep Maharishi said to lay down and put are attention on the simplest form of awareness (Atma).

Hey Jan! Love your videos. My kundalini is trapped in pingala for over two years causing kundalini syndrome and distress. Do you know of anyone in the states that can divert it back into shushumna? Would you be able to help if there is no one in the US?
