Yes! I agree with u guys, the "doomed" word is not right word for our country's geography, I think our geography is kinda special and unique, even we have separated islands we still feel connected, and from the storms and earthquakes, from droughts and wet season we're all learned and adapted from it.After all those unfortunate situations,we still get to enjoy our life,we eat a lot of filipino foods and go to beautiful beaches. We feel blessed and proud after all. By the way guys I'm from TABLAS,ROMBLON, in the Southern part part of Luzon 🤓 🇵🇭

As a Filipino, I can say that most of us can speak Tagalog and English because its literally taught in school for more than 15 years and the 180+ dialects still share a lot of similarities with Tagalog

Filipino is the Language that is being taught in schools, not Tagalog. Filipino and Tagalog are two different languages, Filipino is based of Tagalog, but they are both different languages. Most of us can speak Filipino, not Tagalog, there is a significant difference between the two.

The Philippines has 180+ languages with each major language having a different number of regional and social-class dialects.
Filipino is the name of the official and national language that is based on Tagalog. The Filipino language taught in schools is based mostly on standardized Manileño Tagalog which differs greatly from the Tagalog in the surrounding southern Luzon provinces and nearby islands.

I have a Filipino wife and lived the last 4yrs there before moving to Kuala Lumpur for work. We always wanted to retire in the Philippines but after waking up many time to earthquakes, a volcano eruption and many typhoons plus the crazy traffic we think the Thailand would be a better option. The people are so friendly and welcoming but unfortunately that's not enough for us to retire there but we will always visit as it's a special place to us.

I had to believe that black eye real one typhoon evening during my grade school year when we suddenly woke up because the roof of our house was suddenly blown away by wind. I had to carry a tv to my granma’s house when a tree branch hit my eye as I try to run to avoid getting the tv wet. The next morning, wow, black eye it was. Indeed, it made us more resilient and more accepting because we got used to it and maybe believed that it just is. So we just rebuild or for the others, find a life outside of the Philippines. More power!!! Thanks for the reaction ❤️❤️❤️

Thank you to both of you for sharing your reactions on this video.
Like you, I feel that this video is very negative and under estimate the human ability.
As you mentioned the example of the native Americans thought without much nature barrels, they choose to keep their relationships apart.
In ancient times, Romem and the Chinese even knew about each other even they were thousands miles far apart.
There are many still think that the enforcement of one national language is the only way of unification in nation building. However, the diversity of languages, religions, and couture do not hinder the unity of a country people. Given time, patient, natural interactions and acceptance of each other from various groups, we will become one.
The video has also under estimated the capabilities of modern technology and its availability to locals.
It is greed, envy, bullying, oppression and smearing that keep each other away.

I understand, these two Americans are trying to be kind. But I strongly agree with the video they’re reacting to. I grew up in southern Leyte. I joined the USMC and went to many other countries and all across the US. The Philippines is a very rough country to live in when it comes to natural disasters. We have had 2 massive typhoons and a massive landslide just in Leyte alone. Look up the 2006 southern Leyte landslide. It happened only 15 minutes away from where I live. Lost many friends. Typhoon Yolanda made landfall just north of my island. Tacloban was wasted.

12:57 i think you are underestimating How difficult and Especially Expensive such a project would be to connect all the islands like that or not thinking about it, not every country can do that, has the resources or at least not quickly and whitout problems and that's WHITOUT the often Natural Disasters that would destroy all of it while it's still being build.

I have worked in many places of the globe, and the Philippines is still the best place to be despite that it is situated at the pacific ring of fire and the west pacific typhoon belt. Fresh air from the east comes from the largest body of water, the soil is rich and surrounded by aquatic resources. I would never have chosen to retire in africa, india, china, arab countries, south america, eastern europe or near the poles where it is too cold. I love the Philippines.

You're right that the American Indians developed separately without being islands but I think that also has to do with geography in a way. The American Indians didn't have horses because those (along with pigs, cows, and chickens) only existed in the old world so they had no way to maintain control over huge amounts of territory.

Not sure how y’all took this as a slight against the Filipino people, he’s merely listing all the challenges a developing country faces and every single thing he said is well documented and every Filipino has experienced. This safeguarding Filipinos’ feelings is going to do nothing to help further development of the country esp the parts of the country that are still massively underdeveloped outside of the capital Manila. Development which should be able to improve people’s lives and put the Philippines in a more economically secure position

Filipinos are resilient because we get 20-30 typhoons per year, several minor and a few major earthquakes every quarter, a volcanic eruption every 2-5 years, and concurrent flooding and landslides with every rainy season. Fortunately, tsunamis are rare but storm surges occur with every typhoon. As for climate change, it doesn't really mean inevitable global warming or sea level rise because the frequent vulcanism and tectonic plate activity keeps the land rising even as water and wind erode the mountains and coasts.

Hoser is quite wrong on this one , when it comes to connectivity , filipinos were well connected to each other and to other countries , japanese traders and filipino traders went to each others countries , same with india , china , and the middle east (which is how Islam made its way to South East Asia) Indonesia , Malaysia , Brunei etc... , we were all well connected becuz of the oceans , we set sail and made contact with other filipinos and nations , the philippines is Mountainous , but it has an abundance of water , of oceans , oceans that you can sail boats and ships on which is much better transport when your country is an archipelago and mountainous and very forested etc , Also Marcos wasnt a dictator , he declared martial law becuz of the growing communist threat of the CPP-NPA-NDF that was very active at the time.

TO HOSER WHO MADE THAT VIDEO YOU ARE REVIEWING: I do a bit agree with you at a certain point but you've got the wrong research. Believe me as I am a true and full blooded Filipino that was born and raised in Cebu (Central Visayas Region), then worked, got married and retired in Southern Luzon and (most of/in my entire life) roamed around almost all of the provinces in the Philippines working for my country before I retired. To tell you, the Philippines is composed of three group of islands namely Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao. On the other hand, Bisaya/Binisaya is not a certian dialect but a language which is a conglomerate of so many dialects found or spoken throghout the Visayas and spread or shared with Mindanao namely Cebuano, Waray, Hiligaynon which is different from Ilonggo and many more. You've got badly the wrong language/dialect map representation most especially that of the Ilocano. Research religiously and conscientously.

You can't just say 'from what we've seen' because you have no idea how ethnolinguistic and religious tensions effect a country. You can say the united states is united, but doea that that mean there's no constant tension between blacks whites and asians. Take note of the friction between the southern muslim Filipinos and the Christians ones, also there are many ethnic groups in the Philipines across the Islands, they have to deal with that. That's not 'nothing' dudes.

Read the Bible, it was there. Says... The land in the east facing the rising sun will be the land of salvation in the last day of judgement. One example that the Philippines is not a "DOOMED" was during the time of Hitler, the Philippines is the only country in the east that saved thousands Jews from Israel. Not only that, during the American-Vietnam war in 1970's only Philippines saved another refugees from Vietnam. Now we do have Vietnam Village in Palawan, Southern part of the Philippines. So our country which is the Philippines, shows only that one day in the last day of judgement, only Philippines will be saved. It was in the description in the Bible. Read the Bible

The person whom made the video is ill-informed and lacking thorough research. It's good that you still made a reaction.

Oh my gosh, who made that video. It's disappointing. It makes me feel like it's our fault we have a lot of natural disasters here in the Ph when those are the reason why we are strong as one. Those 180+ dialects won't hinder us to become one when someone's in need of help. He literally said we're doomed lmao.
