The onetime penal colony of #Hobart is located between Mount Wellington and Port Hobart, and features a number of exquisite colonial buildings in breathtaking natural surroundings.
There’s a variety of things to do on #vacation in the city, so chow down on seafood from a waterfront restaurant before stopping by one of the galleries built into old whale oil warehouses. Don’t forget to check out the Hobart Theatre, a must-see on any Hobart tour.
Hobart #sightseeing will no doubt include the Maritime Museum, which celebrates Hobart’s ties to the sea. Go for a sail on the Lady Nelson, a tall ship that makes regular excursions out to the harbor.
Head to MONA, the Museum of Old and New Art. This building descends three floors down into the cliffs surrounding it, and its often dark-natured artwork is featured in vast, cavernous spaces.
For now, we hope you enjoy watching this #travel #guide as much as we enjoyed making it.

I was on holiday in Tasmania in September - early October 2008 and I still often miss being down there. It would have to be the loveliest holiday destination I've ever been to in my life. It's hard to believe that seven years have already gone by since then, as I still remember it like it was yesterday.
200 years ago I would’ve definitely stolen a loaf of bread to get to Australia
U should visit port Arthur then I’m sure you wouldn’t 😂
It wasn’t that great back then, would rather have stayed in Britain but I see what you mean
Australia is really beautiful country. ❤
So far Hobart is my favourite city in Australia. I was only there for a few hours but it was so pretty and chilled, which can tend to be quite the opposite of Sydney.
Of all the places in Australia, I really want to see Tasmania the most!
An accurate portrayal of the best kept secret in Australia. Visited May 2014 and very much taken with the place. It has everything without the problems of a big city.
Does it have a big city feel... Like Brisbane?... I am asking because I intend to move there
@Faqyur Ma'ama Hey... I'm in Hobart now.... studying in the Uni.... Where are you from?
@Faqyur Ma'ama Hey thanks,I think you mean the restaurant, ganges in Elizabeth St. mall probably...Getting more and more used to Hobart...It's clean, quiet, scenic and laid back....Also the people here are very nice.
@@rajkishore95 - there are chronic traffic congestion problems and crisis housing problems....nothing like a country town...this is a sanitised, tourism driven portrayal of the city
@@roycediamond6461 I see, I live in the cbd so Idk much about any housing crisis
I was just gonna make a Siivagunner joke, but I actually really like this guy's voice.
I've been there just a week ago. Tasmania is so beautiful, filled with amazing people, food, wineries, landscapes. Really great place to retire or just live forever happy :)
Jucaso Latino it's like New Zealand, Scotland or Canada! More than Australia!
I have been here 6 years, and this is such a good condensed overview of Hobart!
I spent more than half a year in 2011 in a town called Berridale. Suburbs of Hobart, right near Mona, It was the most peaceful time of my life and I still want to feel peace there.
This is the pure gem of Australia
Thank, for beautiful Hobart it is great!!!
Also visit the rugged West Coast and stunning beaches of the North East 😊
Well preserved city. I'd like it for the weather. I like cool places
I agree
Do some travel guides for Tasmania, and New Zealand national parks because they are simply stunning!
Incredible Hobart..
The climate is quite similar to Wales, Ireland, Scotland, New Zealand, Chiloe Island, Patagonia or Vancouver Island, Canada.
If it has vineyard I would think it is quite a bit hotter than Scotland and ireland
@@Asdfghjkl-zk4jteven though it is closer to the equator than the British Isles, but it has a similar climate because there is a significant lack of land in the roaring 40’s, so it has a temperate maritime climate unlike locations at the equivalent latitudes in the Northern Hemisphere.
missing home :(( moved to the mainland a few years ago to the mainland, and while it was depressing down there at time, still feels like home to me, i only get to go down maybe once a year :((
Sooooooo beautiful place. I love it

glad you went to Richmond, it's underrated, did you do the maze and see Doo Town and Devil's Kitchen? If you're in that area you should have gone to Port Arthur!
Beautiful nature
nice video as always .Thanks.
My favorite destination next to Vancouver, CA.
Going to spend Christmas here this year with my family, I hope it’s as good as it looks :)
How the video scale getting smaller ? what software ? anyone
Bellissimo video, grazie per la traduzione in italiano 😍❤️
I visited here in 1991. Nice people and beautiful landscapes. Love it.
Stopalac Like Newfoundland
things have changed significantly since 1991 - soul ripped out of the place -2019 - it's a tourism zoo
I’m in Tasmania right now while this video plays
Thanks so much for the information
I love this place
When I hear hobart think about the commercial dishwasher and the kitchen equipment

Is that you Hugh Jackman?
Job well done Expedia - what a beautiful clip, very brief yet so detailed...the soundtrack really compliments the video - mind if I ask what the track is called??
I would love to live in Tasmania
Beautiful video! Would you ever do Maldives and Mauritius though? Both are beautiful island countries located in the Indian Ocean.
thank you so much
Hobart
Nice tour
Lovely
beautiful city ,i love there,
Any chance of doing Townsville, QLD?
How Lovely 😊
you have made a video on almost every city but Canberra and I am cross because I live there
Expedia! you might like to try having the captions properly transcribed. Have a look at 5.03
I thought Tasmania was its own country, not an Australian state - I guess you learn something new every day!
Hahaha
lots of people think that...I've had people refuse my ID because it's "not Australian" :\
I live in Tassie 😃, It isn't a very big place. You can drive from the top of Tasmania to as far down as you can go in about 5-6 hours. You can travel across (also as far as you can go) the middle of Tasmania in 3-4 hours. The whole western side of tassie is wilderness which is why you can get from one beach too another when crossing it sideways. Hobart isn't very big at all from the other cities I have seen but just don't blink and you won't miss it😂😂😂
i did not know this too its interesting
Aditya Narayanan you cant be chinese when you only has less then 50% of chinese dna
Well yeah, that's what we expected
Australia beautiful country ❤👍👌
1830's.. a pub for every 200 people!! If only we could time travel!
how too visit that magnificent place
Australia is my Dream,
Tasmania is one of the visited states in Australia
I want to go there
Looks like Scotland, Canada, or New Zealand
Does Australia have world class wine everywhere? 😍 🍷
No
not in perth
In Tasmania everything is wow
Looks like there's not much going on here. I'll be there soon and I hope that I don't get bored.
please do christchurch new zealand
In Christchurch there are many hoes.
Looks like New Zealand but smaller, and not as high in elevation.
Cool
"Tall ships unloaded their wretched cargo at the docks"?
I was born in Hobart never heard it referred to with this term, hardly enticing eh? lol
Best time to visit during the year?
D J summer if you like the hot and may or June if you like winter
Considering moving to Hobart in 2-3 years. In terms of cost of living,
how does it compare to Townsville, Gold Coast, Melbourne and lastly
Brisbane?
I live in Hobart, and even though the houses can be expensive our quality of life is very high. I'm not kidding when I say everything is twenty minutes away, from most suburbs here anywhere you would need to go is a 15-25 minute drive. Traffics only a problem in the rush hour of if there has been an accidentt. Most of our suburbs are very safe, and we have a lot of parks, shops or other facilities. You can drive like half an hour out of the centre of the city and you're in beautiful bushland. I would definitely recommend moving here as I love living here and everyone else seems to enjoy it as well.
@@Jaydenloa2003 Hiya! I would say most of this is still absolutely true. And I firmly believe that Hobart can be an amazing place to come, especially to visit. I would love to know whereabouts you are from for some more context. But as a tourist here are some must visit places: Salamanca and the Harbour (beautiful old warehouses and modern bars and restaurants), Battery Point (a charming neighbourhood that is like stepping back in time), Mt Wellington for panoramic views of the city, MONA (must see!), Richmond (a charming little town outside of hobart), and tbh Hobart has great restaurants and cafes so depending on how long you are here for, taking it easy and just enjoying the food and scenic views is always a safe bet. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Nice
Bello🎉❤

Have you ever heard of the small Tasmanian town of Lunawanna?
Nope?
Just as I suspected.
We can change all this.
Using the Franz Ferdinand hit Do You Wanna?
Yes.
You heard right.
Use this song - change the catchy chorus from do you wanna to Lunawanna.
Then your answer to the original question would be different.
Please also Kyoto and Tokyo version!

We are looking at doing a southern NSW video and we might be able to include Wollongong in that shoot.
Woolongong is a suburb of Sydney. A big suburb, granted, but a suburb nonetheless.
You can't examine the joys of wollongong without noticing the rest of Sydney.

please make videos on india. This will also give boost to the tourism and please start with udaipur (rajasthan)
Please do Launceston, Tasmania.
The nature is nice, people are friendly, but...oh, there is no insulation on the houses, and winters are chilly, so it is frickin cold then, and in summers it is frickin hot. No heating in living rooms, you are freezing cold. I hated that. I still do not understand how to live like this?
I live in Hobart. I don't know why you say this as it isn't true.
Okm
0:51 has been pulled apart for "maintaince" for god knows how long.
1:05 Also known as stale. This is mostly because of Federal under investment in the State for Generations.
1:18 Stroll, because even in a Capital with less people than most Victorian Rural towns, traffic is as bad as Port Melb.
1:20 Just one meal though it will cost you the soul of your first born child, there are cheaper and better places to eat.
1:24 Overpriced like you would not believe.
2:28 Operates every Saturday only from 8.30am till about 12-1pm (official close is 3 but its fairly dead hours before this)
Mostly only full of toursit nick nack trash at tourist gouging prices.
The rest of this video is not too misleading and gives a farily accurate portrayal of Hobart, though it is missing a large amount of its litter and Graffiti. (why they used so few close angles of Hobart City itself)
74KU - finally an accurate and hoest set of comments
In Hobart, many of the parents ignore traffic laws with their children. Many of these parents are civil servants. Youth in Tasmania deserve law-abiding, ethical and conscientious civil servants. Their future depends upon it. Let's double traffic fines in capital cities and watch law-abiding streets and adults appear, in Hobart!!
what the hell are you talking about, have you seen the way people drive in Melbourne? Hobart drivers are pretty relaxed and courteous, it has one of the lowest car accident rates in the country - they don't call it Slowbart for nothing!
@@NumberNeverLie -now the most congested traffic in Australia - fact
One of the strangest comments I've ever seen about Hobart.
@@carokat1111 Hobart is where ethics and civic duty are less important than rugby and cricket, Cupcake. A poop fest with pretty ribbons and tourism. Yawn!
@@martinkent333 I have no idea what you are talking about, but that's OK. Your'e entitled to your opinion. I'm just glad to live in this beautiful city.
how about some major cities Kolkata, Mumbai or Bangalore huh? They're not ENTIRELY poverty stricken. They have ample of well connected and wide roads . Please look into this Expedia
+Soumik Banerjee - We would love to do some more Indian destinations but unfortunately it's been difficult to acquire the correct permits to shoot each destination. We will keep trying though.
How is it for a Black person to live here?
Wesley Jean-Pierre why does it matter what skin colour you are? Incidentally, My ancestor was sent to Hobart as a convict by the British in the 1850s. His grandmother was a slave from Tobago in the West Indies.
Poor souls? They were criminals
lildecable so black and white...idiot.
they weren't criminals as we know today.. they were sent to tasmania for doing petty things like stealing bread and sent to jail and to work for such stupid reasons.
Fuck u
most racist & worst state in Australia...
I don't think so.
Although I don't know your story... Were people racist to you?
