" I need you more than you need you" My favorite line. Its sooo true. I've had friends that have tried to kill themselves and they just don't understand that I need them. I love this song and Meg and Dia!!!
Regardless of what they wrote the song about, it can be related to in many different ways, which is the beauty of art. It seems to be about a romantic relationship, but even with that said I still find it relates to me in a very personal way. My older brother killed himself and I don't think he knew how much I needed him or that I never gave up on him. I have to survive without him, but I am always wishing he was here.
Come on people I know you don't like that person's comment, but really don't use such harsh words. It all seems pointless to argue. yes we all have different opinions but if we don't agree don't argue about it it seems better. even if there making rude comments. Just listen to the music and ignore it. Meg and Dia have such beautiful lyrics and have talent. This song is beautiful and I love it, just my thoughts.
i think the reason everyone hears 'seven nineteen' is because maybe she might be saying " 'cuz i've got nineteen stars " pretty cool song but Monster is by far my fav of their songs. their songs are so awesome. their songs actually mean something and are mentally stimulating.
@MrGinsburg Excuse me, but i listen to nickleback, and ICP AND Meg and Dia. Each group has meaning behind their songs, Meg and Dia's song Yellow Butterfly is about a mother who loses her daughter. In ICP their song 'Let's go all the way" (if you actuallly watch the video) shows that you dont have to be like everyone else, you dont have to be exactly the same you dont have to be perfect and to just be you and go all the way with being you. So before you insult, Know what your gonna insult first.
hi. yeah the song you hear is nineteen stars, not monster, not fighting for nothing, not roses, ect. comment on this song, if monster is your favorite song, go comment on a the video in which that song is being played. okay that is all. thank you. by the way- I love this song, it is amazing. Meg and Dia write such beautiful songs.
i'm crying right now while i am listening to this because my best friend told me he's killing himself tonight and i don't know know if he will. i'm terrified. :'(
i just don't get it. my english isnt't so bad, but it doesn't matter how often i listen to this song, they i NEVER understand them singing " i've got nineteen stars tonight" ! i always understand "seven nineteen stars"! what doesn't make sense -.- but i love the song ^^
@WinterTopaz well, if you are trying to keep your friend alive, don't you think you love that friend. Maybe not romantically but you still love them. Sorry, I am not trying to sound rude.
@sarahLOSTTHEGAME That seems a little harsh for someone speaking their mind, even if it was a little crass of them to immediately turn away someone else's opinion.
@sirMEGAawesome No, they don't write the same "shit" as everyone else. Haven't you ever heard Monster? It's based on a novel called East of Eden where a boy abuses and rapes a girl, then lights his bathtub on fire with kerosene and commits suicide. Yellow Butterfly is about a mother whose child falls into a river and drowns. Meg & Dia's songs are a lot more meaningful and deep than you're giving them credit for. They definitely don't write about the same things as everyone else.
@lolalina1451 good job btw don't suicide because this may sound chessy but there are many people who love you but you may not know it =) have a good life
I can really relate 2 this song i really wanted 2 die and my friends really hit 4 home plate and tried 2 show me i care and i heard this song and cryed soooo hard because i relized life isnt about popularity and guys its about how i want 2 live MY life not anybody elses so 4 all u that feel the same way i did and still kinda do remember your important and there is someone out there who loves you more then you can imagine. ;-}{-;
Stay Awake, Stay Awake, Survive That Reminds Me Of My Friends that want to commit suicide, I Sing This To Myself Everytime I hear This....I Even Try To Show Them This Song But The Don't Listen I'll Try My Best To Keep Them Alive....
I don't like how they are compared to Tegan and Sara, I don't like how when I type in 'nineteen' a song by them comes up, Instead of Meg and Dia, just saying.
@MrGinsburg Maybe to you but thats becasue you dont know what they stand for. All you hear is music, you dont hear the words beyond the lyrics, and you dont feel the passion the artist worked into their work. You're just another person who looks at a song, hears it and says they dont like it. All you do is hear it. You just hear it and critisize, instead of listening and feeling it.
Actually, I thought the book was terrible, which was one of the many reason why I decided not to watch the movie. This song has NOTHING to do with Twilight.
... listen to the song. I'm pretty sure if you're not a five year old you can figure out the meaning. Immature poser? That insult doesn't even make sense as a reply to what I said.
her voice is AMAZING!!!
im crying. I went through this so many times. ilove meg and dia
damn her voice is awesome
" I need you more than you need you"

Dia's voice and the way she sings has changed a lot. She doesn't sound strained now like she sounds here.
this song is so awesome!
I love this song so much !

is this the version of this song that appeared on their first unofficial album when they were just a duo not a band?
@Denny1ist Sorry I should've made myself clearer. I meant it's not a romantic song. It's definatly about love, but the way you love your best friend.
@WinterTopaz I interpreted it that way too, it reminds me of my friend who is suicidal.
@PhiBoiz um, wow. i called him like a thousand times before that and he wasn't answering. besides, that was over a month ago.
is this the original from their first cd?
i'm crying right now while i am listening to this because my best friend told me he's killing himself tonight and i don't know know if he will. i'm terrified. :'(
oh come on, you can't blame me for not knowing this had a bad quality :P. this is the only vid/ song on meg and dia i've heard first :P
i just don't get it. my english isnt't so bad, but it doesn't matter how often i listen to this song, they i NEVER understand them singing " i've got nineteen stars tonight" ! i always understand "seven nineteen stars"! what doesn't make sense -.-
but i love the song ^^
this is actaully a great song i have the cd and it sounds waaay better
@WinterTopaz Yeah, I understand what you mean now. :)
what is this song bout?
@jon62796 That was a compliment. I love Karen Savoca. And that was an immature comeback. I hear the same thing from fourth graders.
@balletprincess598 Yeah, you're right. Chopping people up and smoking blunts just isn't my thing I guess.
shut up! and enjoy this amazing song
This version sounds alot different then the version on iTunes.
onto air
... this song is NOT about love. it's about trying to keep a friend alive because they want to die.
@WinterTopaz well, if you are trying to keep your friend alive, don't you think you love that friend. Maybe not romantically but you still love them. Sorry, I am not trying to sound rude.
the background is "the lion king" It still sayin "sex"..
@sarahLOSTTHEGAME That seems a little harsh for someone speaking their mind, even if it was a little crass of them to immediately turn away someone else's opinion.

@balletprincess598 You mad? I'll catch you around, have a good day.
@jon62796 Nah, my younger brother is a fourth grader. Sorry for being snappy xD
Stay Awake, Stay Awake, Survive
That Reminds Me Of My Friends that want to commit suicide, I Sing This To Myself Everytime I hear This....I Even Try To Show Them This Song But The Don't Listen I'll Try My Best To Keep Them Alive....
How come her voice reminds me of Karen Savoca?
I don't like how they are compared to Tegan and Sara,

So what? Half the music out there doesn't change the world, it doesn't mean it's bad.
Go listen to something enjoyable.
this song has absaloutly nothing to do with twilight. how do you figure that?
You watched him die? You just 'WATCHED' him die? You didn't even do anything about it?
Actually, I thought the book was terrible, which was one of the many reason why I decided not to watch the movie. This song has NOTHING to do with Twilight.
@balletprincess598 ICP blows.
... listen to the song. I'm pretty sure if you're not a five year old you can figure out the meaning. Immature poser? That insult doesn't even make sense as a reply to what I said.
not really
Coming from someone who listens to Nickelback, this song is horrible. This is borderline ICP. Terrible.
