if i ever get up there im definitely checking this place out
I enjoy your videos primarily because you not only know the facts about "The Beatles," and stick to them, but also provide information about them known to you in the UK that we in the US don't know. Also enjoy your mini-tours of sights of interest -- not something most in the US will be able to do for ourselves.
I'm like you, a new record store opening is a positive thing. Buying online is good but there's nothing like visiting a record store!!
I agree!
O wow great I do think you have found a new store for you :"). I sure do like the place and it dose have a lot there as well !!!! I do think you did well on the first time out there :). And I do like your new way of the video too . Take care and enjoy the CD's and the vinyl as well .
Thanks Brad 🙂👍
:).
I do look forward to seeing :) more from there !!!
Great to see all the LPs by Paul
This shop brings me jjoy I will be paying a visit to this shop as I go to Yorkshire a lot you chose welll
That`s a fantastic video Andrew! Loved everything about it. So many happy hours spent years ago in record shops. Need to make an effort and seek out some local-ish stores.
The blue album was also my introduction to Beatles, and owned by my father
I feel very lucky in the amount of Quality record stores in my area..i live in Rochester N.Y..home of the Legendary House of Guitars...The Bop shop and The Record Archive..been going to the " "HOG" since the early Seventies..At one time it was billed as the biggest supply of guitars in the world..( not sure if thats still true".. Most of the albums that have since become " classic" were bought here..The Beatles., The Who..The Stones..Cat Stevens , The Moody Blues..Pink Floyd ect. 3 great shops all in same area makes me a very happy guy.
Sounds like a great area to be!
@@AndrewDixonMusic i know them all for years and thats a huge help...thanks for review..keep up the work!
I'll have to call in next time I pass through
Hi,
Man ........ you're all lucky with record shops in your neighboorhood.
In the little village where I live ........ nothing.
The Beatles Blue album was my first Beatles vinyl lp I bought back in 1975.
Enjoy listening.
Cheers Pe!
Great to see that you got the Flash Gordon Soundtrack, QUEEN is my favourite band besides The Beatles. I`ve loved the Flash Gordon movie since I was a kid and I`ve seen it countless times. It was also my introduction to QUEEN, my older brother bought the "Flash" 45 single back and I still have it. I met Sam Jones (Flash) and Melody Anderson (Dale) a couple of years ago at the German Comic Con, I had the movie poster signed by both and had my photo taken with them, it was a great experience for me as a fan.
It was one of the first films I recorded on video in the early 80s first time it was on TV, watched it dozens of time growing up.
Queen sure did know how to make film music, Highlander also being great.
This album felt a bit of a mess when I played it, though I mean that in terms of mastering and varying volume levels throughout. I'd be interested in seeing if there's a remaster that fixes any of that.
Andrew - well edited video! Just checked - Revolution is 45 mins away from me - when I pass Selby I will bear it in mind, looks a great shop. P.S You would like Loafers Vinyl and Coffee at the Piece Hall - nice small vinyl outlet, you could spend hours in there!
Thanks Chris. In Halifax? Will have to get over there some time!
I might pop there one day, I live in Doncaster so not too far. What does a vinyl go for there?
Like most places really there's a big difference in price depending on what the item is. Prices seem genrally good and fair to me.
Was The Doors record still there when you made a return trip?
No, was sold soon after. Still haven't got it....
Andrew. Where are people getting all these old records that look like brand new? Even the record covers and bindings are new. I have a record store near me where they have lots of the same kind of stuff. I'm thinking someone or someone's are making new pressings of older ones.
I think there's just plenty of people who take care of their records! I'm confident mine will all still be in great condition if I'm lucky to be around for another 30 years.
Flowers In The Dirt will obviously be on the list.
LISTEN ANDY D SEE IF YOU COULD FIND THE FIREBIRDS THE PLUMMER BROS A GREAT COVER BAND FROM THE UK
I don't have anything like this near me. I have to make about an hours bus journey to go to my nearest HMV. The only places I can buy cds or records are charity shops. I hope this record store lasts for you and the guy running it.
Oops! You'll have to buy that CD now that you've dropped it.
That’s awesome, I live down the road from Selby, I’ll see you there.👍🏻
Is that were the Yorkshire Pudding Shops are at? Just kidding......nice video, 39 pounds for RAM????That is $69 Canadian insane.
Not far away in York you can get a full Sunday dinner in a Yorkshire Pudding wrap!
no answer,no subscribe
Ask me something and I'll answer! 👍
I've used Revolution in Stevenage lots, so now there's a franchise near enough for me to actually visit I'll be there. Thanks for the heads-up Andrew!
You’re a generous man Andrew. You publicized the new record shop and you became a patron of the shop.👍🏻
Andrew, that was some SWEET editing DURING the interview!
Well Done Mate!
Looks a great store Andrew and I liked the owners ELO t shirt great taste . If I ever get to selby il certainly check it out . Take care joe
Whenever i go away for a weekend, the first thing i do is check out local record stores - it's become part of the weekend away experience. By the Way (RHCP) is an absolute belter - enjoy
Yorkshire Yorkshire Yorkshire

So is the vynal new reissues?
Should I ever make it to Selby, this record shop will be a must-visit.
Hey Andrew,
Glad you're doing well. And love the video, talking us along 'Somewhere in England'- a Norh Yorkshire record store, that is! I say'Hey Everybody, let's all Get Back to Let it Be'now. May u & all at your channel enjoy the new movie,in just one day. M.
Always a pleasure to learn of a new record shop opening. I am a sucker for record stores and book shops, looking at those prices I must get online to Revolution records in Selby... Thanks for this Andrew..
Best of luck to Michael on the new shop! Always good to see a new record store opening - hope it does well for him.
Great stuff! My Sis-In-Law lives in Barlby so must pay a visit next time we're visiting.
Love the ELO shirt
We need a British version of a Mr mayo record shop visits bet there's a few donns hanging round Yorkshire ✌ 🇬🇧
It's not going to be a new series, just a one off! 🙂👍
Fantastic place and well worth a visit. The importance of physical stores can't be underrestimated, even though I also buy things online. I recently bought the colored vinyl of Abba's Voyage and got into a very nice conversation with another customer. It made my made day, besides purchasing the album. You never know what surprise awaits when walking into a record store.
We have one independent record store here in Richmond, Va Plan 9 Records. It’s been in business for 40 years. I have spent thousands of dollars in this store. It still has the original owners for the most part. Lately they are really heavy on vinyl. Lots of used records and CD’s also.
Excellent, looked like his prices were pretty good as well to be honest. I've paid a lot more for some of those records he was selling.
Yorkshire... god's own county. Of course it'll have great record shops!
You rejected "Ram" because it wasn't the half-speed version?
I don't need any more copies!
@@AndrewDixonMusic fair enough too!
How many copies do you have anyway?
I love your taste! That RHCP album is great too probably my 3rd favorite from them!
Hi mate great to see another record shop opening up ! looks like a great shop. Another reason to get back over there!
looks like a fun shopping trip, record stores are a total dying breed!
Great to see new record stores opening instead of usually closing
Looks great
Why are you avoiding the lennon acetate
There's a big difference between ignoring something and simply not doing a video on something.
@@AndrewDixonMusic ohh someone's annoyed haha I get it dude that acetate means your collection will be forever incomplete. I'm like that with nirvana's love buzz 7 inch
@@onceuponatimeinscotland7036 No, not annoyed with anything. My collection is far from complete, even on recent releases. I've always picked and choosed what to buy, and the acetate was never an option anyway.
@@AndrewDixonMusic you have explained well good sir, keep up the good work
Greetings from Pune, India. Nice video, Andrew. Did I hear you say that you now live near Selby? Never been there, but I do see the signs when I’m driving to Pocklington to visit some close friends. I’ll have to make a detour and visit his shop.
Yes not too far from Pocklington!
By the Way is one of the best Chili Peppers' records and I think that "Stadium Arcadium" is the best one!
I was already familiar with Stadium Arcadium, and very familiar with Blood Sugar Sex Magik before playing this, it's certainly very different to those two!! 🙂
did you get the doors album Andrew ? have all the doors on Vinyl.
I didn't in the end. I may go back and see if they still have it but I've never quite wrapped my head around which is the right pressing to get of that!
Thanks for another entertaining video and it's nice to see you supporting a local business.
Do you mind if I ask - what camera/phone you used to record it? I'm impressed with its stability on the walking shots (even if it didn't do so well with the fluorescent lighting).
Thanks, yeah that florescent lighting caused me some editing fun! 😄
I use a GoPro 7 Hero to record, with an external Rode mic.
@@AndrewDixonMusic Thanks Andrew. From previous experience I think you need to adjust the shutter speed to match the fluorescent light's frequency (usually 50 or 60fps will work). It's not always possible to get rid of it though. Your multi-screen edit worked fine to distract from it by the way.
Record shops hold huge nostalgia for me. Would spend hours as a kid in record shops. It’s always better to have a physical copy of a favourite album but these days it’s tricky with vinyl prices so high and Hi Resolution streaming on decent systems such an easy alternative. I’m going down both roads!
Same here! There's plenty of things I want that I don't need on vinyl, and plenty that I do...
@@AndrewDixonMusic I also still buy CDs as another alternative as they’re so much cheaper. Reserving my dough for my favourite artists on vinyl and the occasional deluxe box set of course!
Gary Byrd the crown absolutely classic I still have the original 12 inch from (top of my head) 82 you would hear it playing everywhere in South London back in the day excellent find. Great to see a new record shop open wishing them all the best
Yes I was really happy and surprised to find it, can't believe the full version isn't available digitally (Well it is now cos I've done a needle drop rip of it!)

Great to see the business expanding. I pop into the original Stevenage shop when I go back to my home town. That started off in a small shop about 6 years ago, but is now in a large place. They had a copy of Let It Be Naked vinyl, bit too expensive for me though. Long live the physical media shops!
I spotted a copy of Let it Be naked at a record fair a few week ago and it blew my mind. The guy wanted £130 for it. I wish they would reissue it like they have done with the Love album
@@lewisreading47 They wanted £140 for this copy. They also had a first pressing of Bob Dylan's Time Out of Mind for £115. Two nice items. And yes, a reissue of LIB Naked would be great!
@@MrH77 its mad money but i bet someone out there would be willing to pay it, not me though lol
This is great to see! Reminds me of the record stores of my youth in the early 80’s, browsing the big album sleeves in the racks. I went over to CD when the second generation players came out in around 1986 and it’s amusing seeing the current resurgence in popularity of vinyl. All mine are stored and not played for years sadly. Maybe one day they should go to an appreciative owner (ie; somebody who actually owns a turntable!).... nice choice of purchases there Andrew - reminds me that Flash Gordon is the only Queen album I don’t have!
I've still got a few of theirs that I need to get proper copies of (mainly late 70s and early 80s). I've mostly got their early and late career sorted now.
@@AndrewDixonMusic yes The Game, Works etc are great (I have The Game and Night at the Opera on DTS surround which is incredible). My collection actually ends at The Miracle - not sure if there is much to collect after that though.
@@stevena9305 I have The Works, bought it about a week before Freddie died weirdly. Innuendo is an interesting one. A bit grand and pompous in places but enough good stuff to make it worthwhile.
@@AndrewDixonMusic love The Works! After you got that copy of FG at the shop the other day I ordered one which arrived this morning - it’s interesting! Sounds a bit like the BBC Radiophonic workshop in parts but I enjoyed most of it - thanks for the inspiration!
It's a fantastic video Andrew. The Red Hot Chilli Peppers album is very good.
Record Shops have made a real comeback in recent years, great to see.
What a coincidence! My local record shop in Rawmarsh is called Revolution Records, lovely staff and stock
Not so "revolutionary"": there are record stores in the US that have existed for decades with the name "revolution". :)
Enjoyed the video. Beautiful new store! Wish him well. Thank you.
