Ellie was definitely giving you guys the stink eye! It’s nice to see that somewhat aggressive motherly instinct to a certain point, but not to where she’ll run you down. You know she’ll protect her calves from predators when they go out to pasture.
You folks have a good looking herd . Cows look deep lots of room and they look like they milk well. Calves look good coming off the cows. Hope you don't loose to much sleep.
I love watching calves being born. I grew up on a farm in Saskatchewan near Saskatoon and so farming is in my blood. Plus I worked on a ranch in Alberta for a while and they had 400 cows that all had babies starting the last week in January till about May or June.
They had fresh straw when we put them in that pen... mom was digging at the straw and that makes a mess. They went out to the pen in the morning with lots of room
Hey Kendal, I may have mentioned this before. A stud bull sale I attended several years ago, a Studmaster, gave the opening address to those at the sale. One of the interesting facts he mentioned was continually selecting low birth weight bulls to use in a breeder herd. This he felt could lead to undesirable resuts creeping into the breeder herd. Your crop of calves and the condition of your cows again this year look great. I dont think Elly was very serious when you picked up her twin calves, she was though not happy post calving. I envy you with such quality cows and excellent temperament. Keep up the successful calving.
No i haven't heard that from you before. We don't mind "heavier" weights. I like our heifer bull too have a lower birth weight, after that i like 100 pounders.
Well, we got a beautiful weather right now here too. I only hit 30° last week. It was 20 below here in Michigan. I give you farmers a lot of credit to work in the cold like you have to. I used to be a dairy farmer in Wisconsin. I know what it’s like
I’ve been rolled a time or two by protective cows. Went to a calf catcher on the side of my quad to move calves now. Keeps me out of the danger zone now, plus I can process the calves in peace and safety. Especially since I do a lot of that work by myself now since dad retired.
I love your videos. If a cow has twin heifers, are both sterile and if not how do you decide which one is sterile? I love looking at baby calves they are so cute.
Did you guys look into Canarms poly water bowls at all? I’m hoping to replace my old rusty Canarm this coming summer and trying to decide if I should go with poly or stick with the metal one..
@TwinElmFarms she never used her horns. My brother seen that cow go through a four wire fence like wasn't there. She was a big beefmaster cow always raised a great calf
That Momma with the twins was really protective. Good job Mom! Thanks for the explanations. Enjoyed the video.
Dylan also seems to have the same gentle manner with the animals. So nice to hear

Totally agree it's nice if they are protective... to a point. Eloise will calm down in a couple days
You are having a beautiful crop of calves and they all appear to have been easy. Hope it continues for you all.

Hahahaha good ole rotary straw bales hey. I always have a bugger of a time to get the net off without getting buried lol
Only bonus, it mixes easy in the tmr
Good job! Please give the twins fresh straw. Beautiful calves ❤

Great video such cute calves love it.
Love the video, I found Peter kind of rough with the twins😮
Ya, that's not typical. We were all on our toes with momma upset.
Peter was worried about mama cow , that why he drop the calf , he be fine
I like the whiteboard Idea. Always good to see others Ideas

Warm but windy today
Awe she's protecting her babies 😮 How many pregnancys for ellouise? The calves are so darn cute.
Love the videos ❤
This is her 7th pregnancy. 3rd set of twins. 1st set was 2 bull calves, 2nd set was one of each, now 3rd set both heifers.
@TwinElmFarms Awe was she always protective crouchy like that?
Well done, fellas, from Ireland!
Ireland... cool and thanks
Hello there, I usually don't comment but.... Holly cow Kendel. 😥

We don't have to many cows that act like this, she caught me unexpectedly
@ I don’t either, but I’m tired of the risk and dragging the calf sled. Lol 😂

Twin heifers, they should both be fertile. It's when you get one heifer and one bull. The heifer than is sterile, called a free marten
Like the videos, what kind of waters did you put in the video
Canarm. We've had pretty good luck with them. Not a Ritchie but they seem to work.
Thank you for the information
Like the video. Another bonus one, the mother was very protective.
How many set of twins did you get last year? ❤️🇨🇦
Last year we had 8 sets
Did you guys look into Canarms poly water bowls at all? I’m hoping to replace my old rusty Canarm this coming summer and trying to decide if I should go with poly or stick with the metal one..
Honestly, I had no idea canarm made a poly drinker.
Ouch! I can't blame him though. I would be afraid of her attacking too.
You won’t loose your job them will just have you do it by yourself so you can get good at it.
Have a cow that big and two foot banana horns and she leavten a round bale 1500 pound and the wagon and trying to doc the calf
Another reason we like to dehorn
