    I'm a Muslim from🇬🇧 and I think non Muslims not being able to eat or drink is not fair during ramadan.
    Also they should have thought of crossings for pedestrians

    • @UltimateBucketList
      @UltimateBucketList  Рік тому

      Yeah that's true. Crossings for pedestrians would have made sense.
      Non muslims can eat and drink during Ramadan, but they have to be hidden away from public view, which I think is a reasonable compromise.

      Trust me, there ISNT a SINGLE country that doesn't have "dark side" rules. Many Western countries had massive amounts of crime & homeless problems & large amounts of uncultured women who breed out of wedlock births. Japan has a low birth rate problem but no crime. No shootings in London but a lot of stabbings.

    It might not be your area of expertise but is it realistic to establish a small business (like barbershop or a small store etc.) in Dubai for let's say 50k dirham? Including all visas and licenses? I think it is doable but then you would need to lock your rent 6 months or o year (because they dont pay rent monthly in Dubai as far as I know), then all the deposits then all the food for the first months etc so 100k AED would be more safe, but still... what would be your take.

No one is shouting in the streets, few or maybe no scammers.. And cheaper than here in Canada and any other western countries. Well, weather is harsh for maybe 3-4months but the rest, paradise.

    Dubai is a amazing city. It's worth visiting it once.
    But the biggest regret is that when the Ruler/Government can spend so much money on buildings/infrastructure/personal wealth/ functions/events/beautifying it's cities then why can't they not spend on upliftment/improvement of living/working standards of workers/labourers who have worked so hard n sweat their energy to build these cities/concrete jungles.... When you visit any labour camp or industrial area of of Dubai or any Gulf city, the living conditions there of labourers/workers is inhumane n pathetic. What use is this extravaganza n concrete jungle when you don't care for people who have sweat their blood to build them. Their own citizens with no work are paid luxuriously while these people are deprived of their minimum wages... It's very saddening. They say" all that shine is not gold "...😟

      Hi Julio.
      Rather annoyingly, there is no train or metro between the two cities, otherwise that would be easy. Taxi is expensive, so you're better off going on the Dubai Transit website and figuring out the best bus for you to take depending on where you are.
      I personally have taken the E101 bus from IBN Battuta Bus Station to Abu Dhabi Central and it took two hours. Price wasn't bad either. Take the early morning bus if possible, it's a lot less crowded.

      That is 97 degrees and that is really hot for me. I live in San Francisco. It is rarely hot. How is Dubai in January/February? Also, if it is so hot there, why have I seen numerous videos with folks wearing suits (real estate agents, Piers Morgan and others walking outside). I also saw another video with people wearing sweatpants and sweaters.

      Unfortunately not.
      You might be able to get away with it on the tourist public beaches etc.
      And inside shopping malls behind the curtains is fine too.
      But walking the streets drinking water during Ramadan isn't a good idea.

      I suppose it's the same with most countries that you visit. Some of them have laws that you wouldn't think they have.
      For example: it's illegal to walk in public in Hungary without some form of ID. If you are stopped and you don't have ID, they take you to a police station straight away.

  • @harryf1ashman
    @harryf1ashman Рік тому

    "cars have the right of way" - the irony is that the drivers in next door sharja are some of the most respectful towards pedestrians I have come across anywhere in the world. As for Dubai being expensive it very much depends on what part of town you are in. For instance, in Daira you can eat very cheaply and far more cheaply than in Europe. For a place that sells itself as a first-world tourist destination, I thought it was good value especially compared to a complete rip of like London.

    • @UltimateBucketList
      @UltimateBucketList  Рік тому

      I'm not disputing that there are cheap places around Dubai, just like there are many cheap places around London.
      But in general, Dubai is expensive.

    • @harryf1ashman
      @harryf1ashman Рік тому

      @@UltimateBucketList I disagree. I think in general it’s good value for a first world destination. I generally use it as a 2 or 3 day stopover to break up longer flights and the cost of food and hotels is a lot cheaper than in Europe. I have also looked at other stopover destinations in the region and they are generally more expensive. My biggest complaint is that it’s completely soulless and lacking in any regional charm but I can handle that for a few days. Worth pointing out that despite the fact that it’s a Muslim country their attitudes to such things as duty free are very liberal. As you point out in your video however always abide by the rules.

      I say to people that ask me about Dubai that it's an interesting mix of Arabic culture mixed with Western super-modernism.
      But it comes with conditions: a caveat of rules, some of which people don't like.
