Wow! I love your work! Your work has inspired me to finally build my own (although very simple) wooden clock. Your clocks are so much more than just wooden clocks! I am fascinated by the way you have integrated modern design with the old look of wood, and that you have used elements that you found to make each clock unique. Thank you for taking the time to make such excellent videos explaining your clocks. The videos have greatly helped me make some decisions regarding my own clock design.
Such an amazing and unique Rube Goldberg clock mechanism where it appears that Navy meets Steampunk. The back of this clock is as unique and beautiful as the front! What a brilliant masterpiece of wires, weights, gears, bells and even a Geneva driven odometer. Beautifully done!
Fabulous Creation John,Masterful use of the geneva wheel as part of the odometer....I could go on and on!!..... always enjoy viewing Your Clocks..... Brialiant concepts and Design Engineering ..Congrats ..thanks for posting Your Clock designs for all to view ..Tim
God you're a genius! This work is an inspiration. I hope you are able to download these bits of your brain to your grand-daughter for humanity's sake! You must be an awesomely fun granddad as well. Congratulations!
To all of you who have taken the time to post these kind comments, thank you. If this contraption has given you a moment of enjoyment, it has been worth the effort to build it. You are able to appreciate the Striker because you understand it, and that means that you are gifted with open and inquisitive minds. Regards, John
Thanks, all you guys. I never thought of it as "folk art," but if some folk art consists of "found objects" stuck together, this one was "found ideas" from different times that finally decided to clump together: the display, the winder, and the striker. And then the coffee table showed up looking as if it had been sitting in the attic all these years waiting to become a clock.
You are right, Antonio, not a clock to keep in the bedroom. More like a kinetic sculpture, she is a display item in our "clock room," running when we have visitors, or when I am working in there to create a cheerful atmosphere. That said, she is surrisingly accurate.
Have you ever considered a blog? I would truly enjoy seeing your clock design and building process as you go through all the steps. Please, please, please invite me over for a cup of coffee and let's talk!
Oh, no, strictly liberal arts and a plain vanilla business career. Building a couple of Clayton Boyer's clock designs after retirement and remembering some high school geometry was enough to get started.
